      Aw thanks! I’m really excited too (and a little nervous about driving a bigger car!) but hopefully lots of fun adventures to be had!

Plus whatever else i ask her to do.... for everyday she doesnt do her chores i take away $5.00. 😊

      That sounds like a great set up for pocket money. I really would like my kids to take on a few more responsibilities like that. 💙

    Great video I love your planning videos. Yay for the new car, how exciting. My 16yo gets $40 a week and my 11yo gets $10. My 16 yo has had a PT job for the last 2 years that I encouraged her to step away from during her senior years. (we live 30mins out of town and has 90mins a day travel to and from school, it was putting alot of pressure on her travelling so many hrs a day then so much school work). In turn, she does a couple of hours a week work for me to earn that $40.

      That’s such a great thing to do for your 16yr old, there is more than enough stress and pressure in the senior years of school to have to worry about other things!

    Great Video lovely. 😊 I follow the barefoot investors family book for my son’s pocket money. We started just after he turned five and have been doing it for almost 12 months. it’s been a great way to teach him that money is not endless and he has to prioritise whether he wants to save or spend on the little things like the ride at the shopping centre or a doughnut etc.
    My daughter is 3 and gets coins because her brother does but she doesn’t really understand. We will do it properly when she is about 4&1/2.

      I really like his method of teaching them that they have to budget without it really being a budget. I never got pocket money as a kid and I think would have been helpful for me to learn that a bit younger.

    My kids are 7,8 and 10 there happy with $5 a week each. They have there own personal binders set up with there catergories. And they do there challenge books and when they reach $50 they divide between catergories.

      I love that idea to build up at $50 and then split it up. Would help them really feel like they are making good progress towards their goals xx

    My son is 8 and I give him $8 per week.
    But I’ve started adding $10 per week to that and he is now cash stuffing to buy things that he wants more rather than me just buying things. 😊

    • @budgiebudgets
      @budgiebudgets  7 днів тому

      That was part of why I started giving pocket money too. Felt like I was just buying things they wanted and wanted them to be able to save and make some choices to prioritise what they really want.

    Congrats on the new car! I love cars - former tomboy. When my sons weren't teens they got $10 per week. When they went to high school they got $20 each p/w.

    My step sons are 11 and 9 get 50 cents per chore for regular chore and bigger chores like washing Dishes etc they get more.
    They average about 5 to 15 bucks a week

    • @budgiebudgets
      @budgiebudgets  12 днів тому

      That’s a great way to do it.
      We did try chores but I got so sick of having to ask them to do it (or them getting upset when I did something before they had a chance to 😂)
      But I would prefer if their pocket money was tied to some regular chores.

      @budgiebudgets it took a while but because we are taking them on a cruise and they want spending money, it's amazing the level of motivation 🤣🤣🤣

    I have 3 children 6,9 and 13.5. My younger two get $10 fortnight and my oldest $20 a fortnight. They can decided if they want to save, spend and what they want to save. Only started this year same with my binders it works. My oldest is saving for a certain branded jumper she is fine with me doing certain thing but certain things she wants to buy herself. And fortnightly my dad gives them money and they save give mum half and they keep the other.

    • @budgiebudgets
      @budgiebudgets  12 днів тому

      I feel like it’s easier for the younger kids in a way as they don’t want as much (like branded clothes or outings) so they’re just excited to save for a toy or whatever.
      That sounds like a great system, thanks for sharing 😊

    Congrats on the new car. If you don’t mind me asking, what car did you purchase. I’m in the same situation with the 5 seater getting a little too cramped

      Thank you!
      It’s a Toyota Kluger, I also liked the Nissan pathfinder.
