    The meaning of this song isn't really limited to HIV/AIDS. It could be any disease that one may pick up on the way especially out of carelessness.❤❤ I love the song

      It’s talking about the HIV/AIDs epidemic that hit the country/continent in the 80s/90s. Matenda is illness. They referring to attending people’s funerals due to them dying from it and etc.

    One September afternoon while I was in Grade 9 [Circa 2000],I got home very hungry after a long day at school and opened the kitchen door.Found my mother dancing and groving to this song. She had serious moves. RIP Mum

    This song came out at the peak of the AIDS Pandemic which affected the whole world. This was a very sad era to humanity. There was hopeless as the disease had no cure. Now we've also faced another pandemic, covid. It's only by the mercies of God .

      Indeed this was a very sad period in the history of humanity. Hiv/AIDS hopelessly took so many lives. And then we had Covid. It's sad to experience these pandemics in a lifetime. We're alive today not because we're clever, it's only the mercies of God. May the souls of the departed RIP
