This was a good one. You could kind of tell the opponents were not ready for how long the smaller armies were staying in the fights. That protoss especially was definitely perplexed at how hard the army was tanking the colossus.
Definitely not perplexed given that you can see your opponents upgrades.
@@henningbreede6428 but most opponents just dont check at all. They kind of just assume that at certain time intervals each race should have either 1/1 or 2/2 or 3/3 based on DOPE

Quick note: you can start ebay at 24 gas so there is no delay.
Best build so far i got is 3-2 upgrades in about 8:15 - you got 3 evacs with fully upgraded marines at that time. Also you can add tank as well for defense.
You need to start second gas asap after rax so you can get your armory right in time to get +2 attack. Add second ebay when its possible.
Yes - your CC is super delayed but its fun build, right? Works great in 2v2 or 3v3 probably. 1v1 you gonna die in leagues above diamond 3 i think

There are 2 timings for a gas first build. You're doing the standard gas first timing at 29 sec. Try the gas first build, but build the gas at about 41 secs. It very subtlety, opens up a different tech tree. It works a lot better.
Start +1 vehicles for tanks, before you get your +2 armor. Get the Second E-bay, after you finish +2 infantry weapons.

broodlords benefit from melee upg too, so its possible to be up 12 upgrades

@@sakesaurus The broodling fling is its own attack that deals 20 damage and gets +2 with every air attack upgrade.
Harstem, you should add some flavor at the 2 min mark just say "Proxy Rax?, Proxy Gates?" to see how your opponents respond xD

I completely agree with the thing about limitations vs viable off-beat strategies that are supposed to help in a weird way and not just supposed to make it harder.
also agreed. Further, i think it enhances the experience more when the strategies exemplify a principle of the game. Taking a principle to the extreme, such as upgrade importance, shows its value in a new light and is good practice at imploying it and furthering understanding imo, even if its certainly not optimal in terms of effectiveness.
Revisiting this strat with Protoss would be very entertaining again 🙂👍

You could be up 8 upgrades if you made some Ravens and put the Anti-Armor Missile on your opponent's army ;)

I tried the build in the first video with my offrace. I hate TvT tankbattles, and I met a terran a lot better than me. The build worked great! I stimmed and won, then I doomdropped, stimmed and won harder. After multiple brutal fights of marines killing everything, my opponenet GG'd saying that my strategy was absurd.

Whenever you make upgrades, or more bases, etc., make sure you get a lot of army. You've lost the first game because you went easy on reconstituting your army. Always create a powerful force, unless you know for a fact that the opponent already has less.

With three forges the cost is 71 seconds base for all three then 138 seconds for level 3 I don't remember level 2 so let's split the difference and say 104 seconds. Before chrono boost which makes things 1.2 times faster i believe so 313 seconds base speed. So assuming constant chrono boost 251 seconds from start assuming perfect run
So by min 7 you can be up by 9 upgrades
Running into the composition in the game which cares the least about upgrade differences, mass seige tank, in your first game seems like the game punishing you for your hubris.

I miss when this was using Quicket's theoretical upgrades strategy, but I guess getting the Quickest possible upgrades makes sense.
Isn't being up 6 upgrades the max difference incorrect?
I mean TECHNICALLY for the matchup 6 upgrades is correct..
However, the MOST you can be up as a PROTOSS player you should know would be 9(3/3/3 vs 0/0)?
Or does everyone collectively disregard shields as a valid upgrade?
Fast upgrades isn't really stupid stuff imo. It's always a good strategy to make your opponent think they can take a fight when they actually cant
The problem is that often they just can take the fight because upgrade rush isn't optimal so you just trick yourself.
Of course it's stupid stuff since it will be very hard to win with this at the highest level, which is how harstem judges things as stupid. Also people at this level all click on the opponents units to see the upgrades, so the point doesn't really make sense.

Great build. But it seems you were lacking tanks in second game. A few long range shots would force your opponent to react, instead of you attacking against batteries.

Deffo felt like alot of the fights wouldve gone better if you had just a few more units, which I guess is the downside in you delaying your production for upgrades.

Still, as it turns out, when you do 40 odd damage in AoE a shot, and a marine has about 55HP, it doesn't matter how much armour they have, they die in 2 shots regardless, and it doesn't matter how much attack they have, either they die before getting in range or you can't shoot them a second time regardless.

please someone i need help. so i suck and am only silver and i main protoss and for the life of me i cant beat terrans. I know my major downfall is im not quick enough and i need to work on basics. im still new-ish so im working on my speed and build orders. But down in silver every single terran just insta turtles. they dont even do it as a response to aggression. EVERY single one just builds turrets, tanks and bunkers and just sit as their first and only go to strat. itll be 5 mins into a game and ill see 2 sensor towers already. ill move my army across the map and get to his base and its nothing but walls of tanks, turrets and bunkers. i mean its insane. obviously once i get quicker itll be easier but right now its LITERALLLy impossible for me to beat them. Like no joke its INSTA turtle right off the bat like they are playing the "survive for 30 mins" mission and i can never break their defense. like what do i do? i build observers to get vision of the tanks but i swear to god its just a wall of bunkers, turrets and tanks so my observers die. i use oracles to get vision and that starts to work but my micro isnt good enough yet to do anything about it. just to test i played a game and turtled as well after seeing them turtle........ nothing happened for 45 mins..... this terran literally sat at his base for 45 straight minutes until i FF'd. didnt send a single unit across the map all game. he had absolutely no intention of anything but isnta turtle.... like its so pathetic. please other than just "get faster/get gud" how can i break a terrans defense when its insta turtle from the start.
i don't play this game anymore, but conventional wisdom against turtling is to just play extremely greedy. so you just emphasize economy at the expense of units. eventually you could start building tempests to out range and siege, or just crash into him and take losses but win with superior economy (like zerg does). take this advice with a grain of salt though, i only ever reached like plat years ago.
As someone else said, you could go greedy and double or triple expand and just mass Gateway units to overwhelm them. Would be good for macro practice though with your stated mechanics you might not win consistently.
For a reasonably consistent way to beat turtle Terran: If they play lame, and I mean not sending a unit across the map for 45 minutes lame, play even lamer. Go 3 base Skytoss and turtle even harder, then move out with 150 supply of fully upgraded carriers and tempest (with a few observers or oracles just in case you need detection).
