"Roseanne" is the story of a working-class family struggling with life's essential problems - marriage, children, money, and parents-in-law. A now-classic sitcom, the story circles around the Connor family, a family of five that includes the parents, Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) and Dan (John Goodman), and the children, Becky (Alicia Goranson), Darlene (Sara Gilbert), and D.J. (Michael Fishman). Roseanne is helped in her challenge to keep the family moving along by her single sister, Jackie (Laurie Metcalf), and various friends.

I watched this show. Some of the character's interactions didn't sit well with me, maybe cuz they hit close to home. That thought takes me to a Wovenhand song, Whistling Girl where the singer sings something to the effect, 'inside the home the folk pine grow- where hearts are fire sparks are thrown': there were a lot of sparks flying in Rosanne as I recall. I wondered, what is a folk pine?, So I googled to find the Norfolk island pine. I learned it's the plant people buy around Christmas.. it's not a pine at all, but related to the orchid.. itsa tropical plant which is not easy to maintain, needing special care to thrive.
