Where in the files were you able to locate the entire list of game-rules? I am struggling to find them, thank you!

Furry spotted lmao
Mojang dropping some of the most ambitious, wild things only for it to be for an April Fool's joke
remember, colored glass was in a April fools snapshot before being added to the main game, if anything these snapshots just give you a peak at some of the behind the scenes experimental stuff they are working on
I want so much of that stuff :/
@@brine_909 the last big 3 ones really look like some tests. New generations, block physics and now this.
/ride, which was added recently, looks like the stuff from previous year's april fools. This year they used new block entities and their animation for a structure.
@@brine_909 that sort of makes sense. they should keep all of this in the experiments tab like the 1.20 features in 1.19.4, so we can keep this with updated versions
@@brine_909 sure hope so, if movable tile entites aren't added soon I feel like there's going to be a large line of protestors from the technical community outside of Mojang Studios, armed with guillotines.
I legitimately want to see an SMP taking place in this update. The opportunities for shenanigans would be immense.

Bro I just came from a limenade episode with this in it
My brain is thinking about the Coordinate of Ymir....
I thought that's what it was. I miss that screensaver.
some of these things would be amazing to have in normal minecraft as "operator utilities" like the small and big potions, the scale command and transformations.
i really hope they seriously add place blocks, mine blocks, copper spleaves and cheese someday
I rearly hope they keep the voting and transforming commands, aswell as the blocks(maybe only command-obtainable?)
Spleaves are very cool but place and mine would take 90% of the fun from making intricate farms.
I was thinking this too. Surely moveable tile entities will be added to the real game? And yeah the piston push limit should be a game rule
@@repeater64 if they make barrels pushable I'll be so pissed i made a whole ass 4x4 seamless elevator
Agreed. maybe they might stick
Some of the stuff added in the April fools snapshot will genuinely be great additions to the base game like the vertical slabs and customisable entities in-game
The joke is that it’s stuff they think are terrible ideas
Sometimes the april fools thing is just something theyre working on but turned up to 11. The portals april fools was a precursor to being able to add custom dimensions with datapacks for example.
@@oberonpanopticon some of them I think are great ideas, even if they’re just for creative mode
@@oberonpanopticon Mojang thinks adding *anything* to the game is a terrible idea. Their ideology is "less is more", because they think adding things to the game makes it harder for kids to be creative. I feel bad for the children of the devs, because instead of Lego they get basic square unpainted wooden blocks to play with. No, no triangles, rectangles or half-circles, it's all just square blocks, because *creativity!*
The big and small effects and attributes would be amazing!
Stained glass was originally a April fools feature, maybe some of the stuff will be added, un-jokeified of course like pushable tiles or modifiable piston push limit, I can also imagine the transform feature could be very fun for a new set of potions.
I’d like it if they made the push limit feature into a new piston variant crafted using a gold ingot or something. Perhaps it could have an 18-block push limit, and netherite for 24?
A lot of these old mods reworked.
i was thinking about this. the stained glass and coal blocks were both blocks in the minecraft 2.0 joke. so yeah honestly a lot of the features could eventually become real
They will probably make a lot of this possible with data packs.
The transform potions would need to be an endgame thing for sure, but it could give use to the thick/mundane/etc potions
I quite like "Zombie Apocalypse" mode, where zombies will attack other mobs and turn them into zombies too, before swarming the player.
Definite potential as a new hardcore variant
An interesting way for them to test how players will react to things, without getting their hopes up for some of it being anything more than a prank.
I really hope you're right about this
I just realised.. those copper "spleaves" are named that as a reference to Spleef, where the ground breaks under you! Mind you in spleef other people break it, but still! So cool!
Also that structrue is a tree! Thats why they are called sp*leaves*.
@@demirkeskin2264 Oh my god lmaoo
@@demirkeskin2264 Not to mention that they have the same texture as Mob Spawners! Triple meaning behind the name!
@@SP1D3YMC And their a reference to Steve, the creator of the aged copper texture.
It's crystal clear that gnembon is in the team. I'm super happy this snapshot has a "built-in carpet mod" and I had a blast playing it w/my friend and seeing all the quirks
& an equivalent of the Morph Mod.
The chain physics are cool too
The copper sink is likely a play on the word "sink" also meaning an expensive thing that requires lots of a specific resource (albeit probably only in gaming I don't think it's used in many other places), as copper doesn't have much use but is an extremely common and abundant ore. And so they added a copper sink, in the form of a copper sink. It's expensive, and your lava farms are going to look positively outrageous.
I've heard some things being called a "time sink" which tbh just makes me think of a bunch of little clocks falling out of a faucet
heatsink made from copper
"Carbon sink" is a term used in environmental science in regards to carbon sequestration.
The minecart transformation definitely has some trolling potential, like you could just watch your friend watch a minecart(you) and then immediately jump off the track and chase them
I can't believe that it's already been 3 years since the April fools prank by Mojang making books change the dimension a nether portal takes you
still one of the coolest things minecraft has done
Wait fr
I wish all (or at least these more interesting one) April fools snapshots gets combined all into one big April fools snapshot
@@princesslemmy yeah in 2020
It's been 12y since first beta
I hope the transform command makes it into official versions. I also really like the grappling hook. I think if they made it a bit weaker and gave it limited durability it could actually be a lot of fun in vanilla.
An actual grappling hook would be a so cool to have and use in the "new" caves as an early game method of getting around.
Could have a cooldown to not make them too op.
@@TheBloopers30 You'd have to have feather falling to use the grappling hook.
I'm really hoping the transform command stays, albeit with some polishing, it's so cool.
Why adding cool things when you can do a mob vote to add phantoms and glow squids. Your point is literal no sense
Transform would be amazing, if they had to then they could remove the aspect of being able to use other players' skins, but it would be so cool
I really do hope some of this stuff makes it into vanilla; particularly a couple of the easter eggs and the /transform command. I can even see the pickaxe block/place block having a place with some tweaking (and rebalancing; within the context of base Minecraft, I'd definitely have the former in particular be gated behind diamonds and possibly also the End), I'm sure redstone folks would be quite happy to have them.
I believe you can host Java servers on any version. I think some smart MC players should be making some servers that run on these snapshots 😶
Some of the technical feats achieved in this snapshot are honestly mindblowing. Not in the sense where it seemed impossible, but none of this stuff has ever touched the base game before. I wonder if they'll ever incorporate some of the technical abilities at some point in the future.
copper spleaves are a really nice building block in my opinion, would love it if it was formally added to minecraft in some way
I thought it was copper bars and got so excited.
Especially if it’s available in the other variants
A block made out of sticks? Just like 2x2 in the crafting menu of sticks gives a block that breaks when you step on it (like the spleaves). It would be cheap and on brand that a block made of sticks would fall apart haha.
@@Glucenaphene I was thinking that this functionality would be added to Termite infested wood (once they're added)
@@Glucenapheneit would be cool if it was like the dripleaf where it can be stood on for a little bit but once stood on it would start a timer to break would be cool for one way paths parkour courses traps even aesthetics if you place them in ways they won't be stood on. Can even see it interacting with redstone where you can prevent it from breaking by powering the block and so on I'm sure there is further implications. I think a wooden, iron and copper variant would be interesting if only for the different textures to use in builds.
Can we keep some of these? The size potion, the polymorph potions, and the transform command are really fun and potentially useful.
movable tile entities too
The morph potions are really cool!
The place and pick block are also pretty useful. Brings back memories of autonomous activator.
Yea as long as they have a way to get rid of the transform effect because I dont wanna stay a moon cow forever
@@uzumakimadeit /kill
I hope a lot of these new things become part of future updates. Grappling hook concept is great, auto-mining block is cool, I think they're hinting at a new dimension coming soon, and there's so many others in forgetting
Even if it's just for an April Fools update it's really amazing that they put an easter egg of the Aether dimension in the game
Imagine if it somehow was a teaser for 1.21
21 really sounds like a aether number
@@banned2911 it should be update 1.42 for the aether is the meaning of life
@@Granolora see ya in 2045!
I believe the guy who made the aether mod now works for mojang as a developer!
The new portal is part of a rule and can be found w/o commands by creating the Aether portal
The transform command could be REALLY cool for map making! Would make something like a prop hunt game mode way more easy to implement.
12:41 When the April fools update has better parity than normal updates XD
The april fools updates are honestly more impressive than the actual official game updates themselves
No rules... well rules!!
Yeah I swear they spend more time on the April fools update than the actual updates
I think it's because they can add everything regardless how stupid or game-breaking it is.
Mojang : Ouch
they don't have to test every feature for months to make sure they are perfect
One thing I found that seemingly nobody has mentioned is that in the world settings, you can select "minecraft: the moon" as the single biome, which is similarly cratered to the cheese moon but is covered in water and dark grass and mountains, regular gravity and no cows... but you can still find the self-assembling moon base there.
You used to be able to do that kind of thing with the hell biome. It generated as a plains biome, but nether mobs spawned.
There’s a vote called “Buff fishing” that makes a ton of fishing results come out at once as long as the rod is in the water. There’s another one called “Polluted oceans” that makes any item fishable. This combination makes an infinite stream of random items come out, including bedrock and netherite armour.
it amazes me how much inspiration must have been taken from the hermits for this snapshot
seriously, I mean, they made moon big!
the 1/8 blocks are so big i can’t believe no one is really pointing them out, they have amazing potential
People have been pointing that out since forever, it's only overshadowed by vertical slabs.
I'm looking at this and thinking "Wait what? They're literally small" and then I realized you meant mechanic-wise
I'd take 1/8 blocks over the entire 1.20 update any time. Like I don't care about a weird looking sniffing turtle, I want to be able to build stuff that's proportional to the player's size but looks like real world stuff. Like cars, furniture, thinner walls.
@@user-tzzglsstle585e38 no, i mean the fact that they’re in this april fools update is massive and no one is talking about how big it is, everyone else is focused on the other things like the moon and transform and stuff. the fact that 1/8 blocks are now in base game mc means it’s entirely possible we can get them, and the question is why can’t we now? it works
ten chicly they aren't big they are small
Here's the thing... I like the size potions a lot and wouldn't mind if they were implemented in some way
Modded has a shrinking device that works similarly. It's pretty fun.
I wouldn't mind these potions in vanilla either.
w.. why do you like them specifically?
Even as a creative-only feature, they'd be fun.
@@mrShift_0044 I'm re designing my end. I'm building some enderman statues on the obsidian pillars. Imagine how cool it would be if you could stick a x4 sized enderman stuck in glass on the pillar instead. You get particles and minor movement instead of just blocks. It has niche use but when it has use it would bring a lot of life into the game
@@whowantsmypants8888 I think it would be better to size up to reach farther and size down to fit into smaller areas like half block height.
I love how most of these are things that come from mods. Like the transforming is the Morph mod, the cheese moon is Galacticraft, the big/small potions are Gulliver's Travels, and even the tails and pick/place blocks are mods. Still an unironically awesome April Fool's update up there with the endless dimensions one.
No way, I didn't know minecraft mods invented shapeshifting??? Gulliver's travels? That's a minecraft mod, right, not an extremely well known book that has inspired thousands of different things?? Cheese moon? A minecraft mod came up with that joke, right? It's not hundreds of years old or anything, no not at all
@@cybercider6620 Oh totally. It's not like Bram Stroker's most well known book didn't have its villan turn into a literal pile of rats to escape at one point, or that Changlings and Skinwalker don't exist in ancient culture. Or that, you know, Wallace and Grommit didn't make an entire episode dedicated entirely around the "moon is cheese" joke well over a decade ago in recent "relevant" media, or that Gulliver's Island was made into a movie starring Jack Black back when I was in middle school because it was a successful book. And you know, there's just absolutely nnnnoooo way I knew all this and still made my post because suprisingly enough there's actually people in the minecraft community that don't know mods exist and I wanted to put that little bit of information out there for them. That couldn't have POSSIBLY been my intention.
Those are like something 9 year old me would think of lol
This is about as true as crediting Doom for Half Life adding guns lol
Also the divisible blocks from Chisels & Bits, the sky portal from the Aether, the grappling hook from the Zipline mod and the block placer/breaker from the Redpower mod to name a few more.
@@sonicwave779 Thank you for pointing out where the grappling hook and pick/place blocks were from. Oh, I missed the Aether portal then, was only able to listen at that moment.
I'd love to see a short (maybe just a week/episode or two) SMP with the hermits playing this!
Honestly the moving block entities part actually seems like something that could be in a future real snapshot
Yeah it seems extremely weird they'd add that in the april fools snapshot when it's a highly requested parity feature. If they don't add it, that's pretty absurd, the code is done lol
@@tricursor2481 I wouldn't be surprised if it was done as a troll. Heavily demanded features like this being mocked isn't uncommon
@@legatelaurie Aaand that's why I'm frustrated. I love minecraft but I have my doubts that these are anything more than cheeky jabs.
I just tried it and sadly, all items pop out of the block's inventory when it's moved.
@@tricursor2481the difference with an actual update is that you don't need to polish it and remove harmful bugs. As other person said it pops all the items, and I wouldn't be surprised that if it didn't do that it would probably remove or duplicate your items when used in some weird configuration.
Is it just me or would this genuinely be a great regular update
Not all of it would be good in the base game, but parts of it are awesome. Overall one of the best April fools ones we've gotten tho.
It reminds me of the older minecraft updates, when there was no theme and it could just be the addition of horses, and terracotta.
Remember how the dimension April fools update was using a bunch of the new functionalities they added for the next update? We will probably see some of these features (especially the tags with how you could vote for a bunch of new attributes). I doubt they’d add the moon, but the way that the moon tree grew seems to be a new type of block animation functionality that may be added.
So cool - both the snapshot and your coverage of it :-)
Its unbelievable how many good and cool additions they can make when its only a silly april fools update. It's almost like something is holding them back from adding so many great features into the game normally.
Yes, there is. Decisions are less often reversible, what gets added later can’t be removed (usually), things have to be tested intensely, bugs are actually a problem, bedrock parity matters, how intuitive the features are matters, how they can be customized, if you can cheat with them, if the game lags too much…
@@noa_1104 Bundles be punching the air rn
Seems like they’ve focused a lot of making the game as moddible as possible rather than expanding vanilla in a specific direction. Kind of makes sense but it’s strange as a vanilla player myself.
@@noa_1104 ah yes, minecart wheels, THE most complex and bug-inducing change.
there are plenty of interviews with them about their approach. "throw in as much as possible" is the opposite of what they want.
Usually, they do not leave out things because they can't add them, but because they do not want to add them.
that's why the game can be modded. Anyone can throw in anything they want in the game.
These April Fool's snapshots are almost like spin-off games within snapshots, there was so much replayability in the Infinity snapshot just to see what random stuff you'd get, and this looks just as good.
Also hoping that a lot of these redstone changes make it into the normal game, at least as toggleable commands like they are here.
I hope they release a version with all of the April Fools snapshots put together.
I really hope they added the auto-breaker and placer, they’re my favourite part of modded and would make stuff like cobblestone and basalt easier to get. Obviously remove the ability to break bedrock though
@@qwart22 maybe if they make it have different pickaxe tiers and take the same time as a player does then maybe, doesn't seem vanilla and it would be just op
I'm playing this april fool's snapshot rn.
after a series of interesting events, I am a parrot with permanent night vision, the ability to instantly mine any fist-breakable object or instantly kill any mob from any distance, and have 25 nether stars on hand.
its like a modded server but without any mods. its crazy, and this 2023 one is the best in my opinion
Some features like the place block and the pickaxe block are actually good. I also like the potion of big and the potion of small. This should be added to the main game!
Can't wait to see some of these as datapacks on vanilla tweaks soon. Especially the transform, scale, and the grappling hook (toned down a bit), wheels on a minecart, tile entity moving, and bouncy castle, among others.
The transform command alone brings more gameplay value than all of 1.20's features combined. After trying in-game, it's astonishingly polished, with tons of great little touches. For example, being a fish, you drown on land and can breath underwater. And as a flying mob, you can fly even in survival. This has got to be added into the base game!
Imagine using a transform potion and then hostile mobs would no longer be hostile towards you
@@blackmage1276 That actually happens! If you transform into a hostile mob, other hostile mobs will be passive unless attacked directly.
@@SCtester this could definitely be added in survival, using something iconic to a mob to brew a "transform" potion, as long as it was balanced. For example, to not be attacked by endermen is a huge deal so maybe you could use the dragon egg in someway to brew these potions then it would be an end game thing
@@blackmage1276 mob heads would be perfect especially if they add one for every mob

I think a few of the things in this snapshot like the portal, the moon, and the movable tile entities, and eatable blocks are tests for upcoming features. We might be getting a new dimension soon.
There are so many things in this April Fools snapshot that I think would be genuinely good additions to the actual game, wow. Looks super fun!
BIG POTION
The 2022 and 2020 april fools snapshots foreshadowed big features that already got added to vanilla datapacks... we live in hope!
This was an insane April fools snapshot!
int float short byte etc are data types available in java (they allow you to specify the type of a variable for example (e.g., int age = 50), { are to start and end } a code block and [ ] are used for arrays
The potions of Big and Small could be useful outside of the April fools snapshot. Small to fit into smaller spaces while exploring, or big to get a better view and see over things, as well as them both assisting in building by allowing you to reach more without needing to scaffold or dig around as much
April Fools Snapshots are always the best man. The "Big" & "Small" effects should be implemented vanilla too
there's a mod called pekhui which implements this, and it works on any entity.
@@petey5009 bro of course mods have it, they've had it for years. I want this in vanilla, as commands or some kind of datapack mechanism

I feel the same about the entity transform potions/commands. It’s just such a cool idea with so much potential.
They are absolutely useful for stuff like pvp, it wouldn't be op too
Trying them I also found out they are great for terrain movement, big helps traversing hard terrain, and small well, you fit in the hole of a stair so you can make hidden paths

The cheese block mechanic for shaping NEEDS to be a thing with all the materials (at least the ones that make slabs and stairs). I don't care, if it's hard for the system to handle, it's needed!
Perhaps with a new tool, like a chisel.
The thing is that it’s 100% not hard for the system to handle, they just don’t want to do it
Honestly I can see a block chiseling feature totally replacing slabs and stairs. Slabs and stairs are kinda annoying. Crafting the right amount is annoying, placing them is annoying, it’s a very problematic system. A chiseling system on the other hand has none of these problems. It seems a lot more convenient and more natural as well as providing more options in both materials and the shapes you can create. It’s just overall a better system and I can only hope that Mojang adds something like this in the future
@@Thatdankkoala even internally this is better than the in-game system, since rather than "full block, half slab, stair, double slab" for some of the blocks, you just have 1 cheese block.
I wish they would at least offer it on concrete and the stone varieties.
I absolutly love the changing the waters color and fog. I've seen different swamps and marshlands and it would be really awesome that when doing any builds that have to do with them changing the color could really make it even more awesome.
Same! It makes it feel so alien, like a fantasy world!
For those who are worrying about the things being only in the April Fools snapshot: remember how Mojang first introduced the multiple dimensions in one of these snapshots, and then we got the option to make them for real using datapacks? I think they might do it again, for example adding the option to change size of entities or movable tile entities
When the April fools updates is 10X better then the real ones
True
Although many are jokes, quite a lot of these features need to be in the main game.
The potion of small should be a potion. Make yourself able to enter into smaller spaces AND make enemies easier to kill by making them small
Dude hasn’t fought a baby zombie. Is absolutely not easier.
idk how it works but it would be neat if their values changed with their scale, like small enemies doing less damage with less health, and large mobs dropping more things (big cows give more raw beef and leather, etc)
The size changing potions could actually be a cool addittion to the game if theyre rare and dont last very long
At 16:51 you can see a colour called baby sh|t brown
That is pretty sus 💀 I really hope some day these snapshot will be released for bedrock as well ;_;
I am on my hands and knees praying that some of these features make it into the base game as Mojang has done with certain April Fool's features in the past. I know the chances of the block breaker and placer making it in are slim given their stance on block automation, but things like the transform command, gravity alterations, size changing potions, etc. would all be a ton of fun.
Some of these would actually be pretty nice as features or things that can easily be activated via commands, if not already, datapacks. Such as changing the size of entities for story purposes (e.g. a giant Wither). Makes things more accessible to beginner map creators.
As a server owner who messed around alot with unique command block mobs and stuff, Giant withers are one of the few things you CAN make in vanilla, Withers and phantoms actually have a size modifier in their tags that can be changed. Just so you know though, The size modifier for the wither also acts as it's timer for activating and exploding into a normal wither and it'll either shrink or grow depending on that size modifier til it hits a certain point. It can't attack or move when it's in that state.
IIRC the wither's modifier is the Invul tag and the phantom's is just size.
I really hope a lot of the behind the scenes parameters like push limit, tile entities moving, biome color, water color, and fog color changing all comes to the base game. If they have the capability, there’s no reason to tease us with more sandbox elements only to remove them.
Yeah, the /fillbiome command is already a great step towards something like this
The Copper Sink/Cauldron is actually really cool, would look great in kitchen builds.
The placer, pickaxer, updated piston push limit and the ability to move tile entities is making me water at the mouth. Can you imagine the things they could do on scicraft with these in vanilla.
I am scared.
Should add them to the base game tbh. Just make pickaxer and placer more expensive and make it so pickaxer cant break stuff like obsidian and bedrock
@@NotSnak probably not going to happen because one of the golden rules of mojang is that "every block you have to place or break yourself" eg: they hate automation
@@snailtan4332 not sure about "hate automation". They just want to make players think outside the box (for example, fully automated warp wood farms and mud farms can be made with no player interaction whatsoever). Whereas, a block that can break whatever is in front of it makes things like tunnel bores kinda one note and no innovation would happen really.

I can't wait to see you play in this! Hopefully with some fellow hermits!
The effort they make for just a little bit of fun is amazing
I love the april fools snapshots because the developers get full freedom to do whatever they want as well as push the limits of minecrafts technology
One thing that not a lot of people say is that usually Mojang tests some feature that they want to add to the game inside these April first snapshots, so we are probably going to have the mob/biome votes inside Minecraft Java as well
AND probably is a test for moveable tile-entities too
And new dimensions from last year's april fools
There's just so much in this snapshot it's absolutely incredible
I think its cool that u get some of the mob perks like "allergic to water" or "can fly" or "can swim fast"
Imagine if Hermitcraft would play on the April Fools snapshot for an episode each year. Would be really cool to see how everyone reacts to the wild changes.
@xisumavoid could you propose this?
Would have to be a backup server cause nothing can stay past the update
This might be my favorite April Fools update yet, maybe even better than 20w14infinite
imagine all the possibilities we could have if the /transform and /scale commands were added to the base game. Mapmaking possibilities would grow exponentially
I would love if they kept some of this in the update, for example /transform, this is a TON of features for just an april fools update, a lot more then you'd usually see, they usually don't go absolutely all out like this. The dimensions one doesn't really count because the Biomes are very easy to generate, for example you can get MCreator and it'll allow you to generate custom Biomes.
i actually hope the big/small potions get kept for the future those look like they could have interesting applications
imagine having dispensers shooting them automatically and having a permanent mini villager farm
I would love this so much!!
This will be legit useful to folks interested in (simple) modding. Lots of examples and inspiration.

Woah, this snapshot is awesome, I hope that they'll put some of the updates into the main game...
And about your Hermitcraft videos, when you put text on a black background, I think it would look a bit better and animated if you add an exploding firework behind the text, and still with a black background.
you're*
I think it would be nice if some of these features (in a more balanced version) would enter 1.20 or later. They have the work basically done and a grappling hook would be awesome for example. Not to mention some of the block and size features being op for people in creative mode
the transform command is something I want in vanilla. It would be amazing!
The structure on the moon is a reference to an old screensaver! Called 3d pipes! My personal favorite to watch as a kid
Waited all day for your video on this snapshot. Fantastic snapshot update videos X!
Thanks for waiting! I had a late start but it was all fun :-)
Same
@@xisumavoid You mean you were having too much fun to make a video? 😜
I kinda actually want the first level of the potion of big and small in the game that'd be really fun.
With the approved piston physics you can also use chains as they should work and slime blocks stick better
Words cannot describe how much I want them to actually add the size changing and animal morphing potions.
I love how xisuma is so happy with those joke updates, really brings a smile to my face.
+.
Mojang gotta add some of this stuff to base game, hope this was just experimenting with stuff they're planning to add or just testing before being in the "maybe we add this" fase
I wish these commands would be base game and not an april fools update, the amount of creativity you could have without needing mods or datapacks would be insane.
I played this all day yesterday! And when it was still there on the 2nd I got freaked out, best April fools update in a long time!
Place & break blocks would be awesome for concrete makers
This snapshot is absolutely crazy. Some of the additions are genuinely cool and I'd love if they were added to the base game in the future.
I'd love to see a mini series on this snapshot.
I once played on a moon base with a friend, I think it was FTB. It was so much fun having to make air and have a spacesuit, with airlocks and lots of great stuff.
best summary of this!
As much as I love the silliness of these snapshots, I wish Mojang would allocate these resources toward developing actual content for the game. Maybe it's not possible because of the linear workflow, but it does pain me to see these extravagant jokes while the actual game gets drip fed content that doesn't really change much.
Agree but at the same time A LOT of people seem to like them. If Mojang stopped they would've been called lazy for it by now when it sorta has become a tradition.
Also these features probably didn't take that much time to create because the code used to "build" them are already in the game.
What somewhat makes my gears grind is when there's actual good features in the April fools snapshots that could've been very fun to see in an actual game update.
Features that the community has been wanting for many years now, like movable entities and vertical slabs.
I would imagine that this sort of update is just an amalgamation of all their ideas and random tests (and bugs) while developing. I feel that letting the developers play like this is not only good for morale but ultimately defines and shapes things that actually get put into the game.
This is most likely a lot of actual testing packaged into an April fools joke. So a lot of stuff that gets done behind the scenes anyway.
I think all that Redstone stuff was just Gnembon throwing carpet mod into the vanilla game.
And here they go with another Infinity update! I love when the April fools update is just something with insane potential and a whole new way to play the game
THANK YOU SO MUCH I REALLY WANTED TO PLAY THIS but sadly its not on bedrock BUT I ALSO HAVE JAVA! SO TYSM
the copper thing reminds me heavily of the old windows pipe screensaver. ah, nostalgia
Most of these features don’t fit vanilla Minecraft, but I feel like a few of these could be cool additions. The potions probably shouldn’t be obtainable in Survival mode, but the big, small, and mob potions are really fun features!
I had the exact opposite reaction... With some polishing I would be 100% fine with the majority of these features. Minecraft dungeons proved to me "vanilla" just means polished, and that the core style of the game can fit so much more than what we have in the base game. Minecraft is one of the only games I know that has this issue with trying to constantly stay within some invisible box of 'not looking modded'. I would pay for a Minecraft 2 if it would let them actually try reimagining the game again and take some actual risks
@@stephenkrahling1634 I agree. I feel like with 1.20, although there are some good features and I can tell Mojang has put a lot of work into it, they are playing it too safe. Most of the features will probably be ignored less than a month or two after release (other than for building.)
@@stephenkrahling1634 Oh, I 100% agree with Mojang broadening their definition of “vanilla.” I just meant that stuff like the bed banners, Midas Touch, and Moon dimension (in their current states) feel out of place in Minecraft. Others might disagree but, to me, there should be some limit to how outlandish Mojang’s additions are. Mojang’s desire to limit their creativity for the sake of some “vanilla feel” is why I’m still patiently waiting for Hytale to release; that game looks crazy compared to Minecraft, but I am all for it. Lol
I actually think that some of these changes fit Minecraft better than things like the sniffer, skulk blocks or archeology. The transform command, block placer/breaker and big/small potion effects should be in the base game.
