@@timwildauer5063lol there’s only one person in the sub 2 hour club for the time, being Mr. Kipchoge. Unless there is a cultivation of running culture we we might not see another sub 2 in our lifetime.
Yeah it looks like he's jogging at 5 mins per km pace. But he's eating up the ground. I think the key is to get the knees up a bit and increase cadence, which increases pace without sacrificing much energy.
@@goodyeoman4534The real key is years of training and a progressive increase in speed, because even if we ran with the same technique, our muscles would tire rapidly and we lose the form
I ran my 1st ever 10k race last weekend in 1:10:16 it was only the 2nd time I've ever attempted it 😂 it was a massive achievement for me. I'd love to get it below sub 50 mins, that is my goal.
In my absolute prime, I did 38:50 and puked at the end! Blows me away how anyone can chat away at this speed. Incredible. One day I aim to get a sub 50 without dying now I'm old. Well done Andy
Andy, you never cease to amaze us with your amazing energy, your positive attitude, your absolute passion for the sport, your handling of team mates comments ( ;-) ), your dedication to help non-professional runners, as viewers of TRC. You remain a Champion and a Winner to us! The TRC would not be the same without your inputs and motivation. A Big Thank You.
Thanks Andy! So many running You Tube channels talk about “what you SHOULD do”, “what you SHOULD be thinking about”…but rarely do you see it (and hear it) so graphically put into practice! It’s rather comforting to see that a former professional goes through the same mental and physical challenges as me, albeit at either end of the success scale.
THIS!!!! This exactly. I feel exactly the same as you. It is extremely interesting how the mental state of humans changes throughout hardship and how similar it is between individuals, even when it is at completely different paces and training levels. @@nachot6592 I know right. Everything he describes is so recognisable, pretty much everything he describes matches so well with my own experience. Really impressive.
Thanks Andy. I recently ran 42 something on an admittedly easier, slightly net downhill course but I still blew myself away as I only dared to hope for sub 45. I remember how proud I was of myself when I first broke 50 minutes. The idea of running under 40 seemed daunting at first because of how much effort and discomfort sub 50 felt. But I realized that obviously that goal seems lofty when you don't have the training to do it. Now that I do , I know that I have a 39:59 in me. That's all I want. 39:59. I'm not even trying to be a middle distance runner. I want to run ultras. But I really want a sub 40min 10k on my list of achievements.
I just ran a new pb this morning, 20:16 for 5k with semi-strong head wind. In better conditions I think I can easily keep that up for another km or so. Maybe I'm too optimistic but hopefully in a year I will be able to give a sub 40min 10k a go :) Best of luck!
I ran a sub 20 5k in February (19:56). After I crossed the finish line I was almost sick. Cannot imagine keeping that pace up for another 100m, let alone another 5k
Well done Andy! I am aiming for sub 39 mins (maybe sub 38:30 if it's a good day) at the start of August. The same race last year was just under 48 minutes; heat with hills. Thanks to your video that I watched twice Andy I ran a sub 39 10k at my first attempt in a race. I did exactly like you: first three kilometer calm down to keep the pace (around 3:45 /km like you because why not), then 4 to 7 keeping the pace, then 7 to 10 "how bad do you want it". Well slowed down a bit around 8k and wanted to give up. Then I thought like you did okay it's only a mile left and I do want it badly, I run this in training too. Then still had some sprint left the last 500m or so. My heart rate was quite consistent around 175 though (not sure what max is but never seen it go higher than 188 on my watch), so maybe I could have pushed a bit more, but mentally I was suffering so I cut myself some slack. Felt like falling down. Thanks for the motivation! Also the mindfulness approach is great. Relaxing the upper body and keep breathing. (Considering the use of mindfulness here, have you considered joining a vipassana meditation retreat? Think it would be very beneficial for you too.) Great cues during the run. Thank you.
This was a very inspirational video for me. My PB for a 10k is 58 minutes and I was totally spent after that, but I feel inspired now to push it a little bit more and see what I can do, if I can get a sub 50 that would be awesome but it will take some considerable effort and a week off work after 🤣😂🤣

Good on you Andy, loved this!
How do you even manage to talk! You make it look so easy! I currently doing speed repeats at a pace of 4.20m/km and I can’t think let alone talk!! I feel inspired, need to relax my arms…
Lying here at 3AM with manflu. I'm watching you doing a 10 k in Viccy Park where I will be racing in a fortnight.Hope I can shake this off and put in a half decent performance. Thanks for the little bit of sunshine in the dark night.
Thanks Andy great video just run the Goodwwod 10k on Sunday will take the advice from this and try and improve next time
Now do sub 1:30 Half Marathon
He’s done that already I think 🤔
Great video! I'm attempting a sub-40 10k Time Trial on Sunday and will try and implement as much of this as possible....!
Always an inspiration 🎉
Well done Andy, amazing effort 💪👊🏻
Brilliant well done Andy 👏🏻💪🏻
Gonna listen to this while running my next 5k which I hope will be under 38 minutes 😂
Great video! Definitely not my goal to ever achieve, but still inspirational to watch Andy push himself to reach his goal!
You do realise who he is don't you?
Another great video - well done. Amazing to see how you can manage you heart rate so high for that long and still speak when its that high. Makes me think that there is more in the tank than one thinks when on a run or is it just athletic genes that I my forefathers lacked.
can't even sub 1 hr this is awesome
Although it was not in plan, after watching this video I got out and did a 10K... In 49:00 and struggling but still, thanks for the motivation! 🙂
Man I didn't expect a pace in the 3s to look so ... well normal. Cos everytime I barely touch the 4s on good days I feel like the greatest being ever to grace those mundane streets lol
And I run through the busiest highway in my city so that feeling of invincibility can often get legit dangerous. This one time I almost convinced myself I could run straight through a truck that had the audcity to stand in my way haha.
Well done 👏
Must admit the pace in the beginning looked more like 4:30 - 4:45 ....probably just you making it look easy.
Would be interesting seeing him repeat this at a colder time of day/ year
We'll see what we can do!
Thanks Andy! I’ve gotta get me one of those Garmin “FFWD” editions and knock 20 minutes off my 10k PB...
Sub-35 minute 10k video next please 😏
Hahaha we'll let him know! 😂
