This is January 16, 2023, and is my very first time hearing "SHAME"!! IT IS SO pretty, and amazing!! Max bumped that one all the way to the clouds!! Beautiful!! That music is so beautiful !! Max is killing it with a little dialog, and a dab of smooth groovy sexy "HIP-HOP"; then back to his STYLE OF "ROMANCE"!! BEAUTIFUL!!
Interesting note here is that the audio appears to be distorted and could be attributed to the recording. Wait, I was there, and my ears were being killed by the volume (yep, 3rd row center). It was so loud that the sound---which should have been beautiful, was in my opinion closer to noise. Take a listen at the 2:00 mark. There it is clarity, and then wait for it, back to distortion/noise. A missed opportunity for the engineers, and slightly disrespectful to those who expect quality from Maxwell. Not his fault (or is it--he's the boss) because the engineers probably protected their ears with plugs. I'll have the VA check my ears for damage. Aside from the volume, my birthday girl loved it.
I went to chicago for his final show of the King and Queen of Hearts tour with Mary J. Blige and the sound was horrible then too. Mary's sound was perfect and so was her performance, but as soon as Max came on the volume went to 1,000 🤯🙉. I was sitting in the nose bleed section and still had to put tissue in my ears! At this point i'm thinking that his volume is super loud because his vocals aren't what they used to be! I'm a super fan, but I don't see myself going to another Maxwell concert!!
@Harold O The same issue occurred with the sound being too loud before he came on (prelude music) two nights prior when he was in D.C. at MGM. Once he did this song, I could barely understand any of the lyrics and was forced to just subscribe to feeling the beat. It wasn't an overall pleasing situation with that volume.
I totally agree. I was at this show. I was in the second row and the sound was very loud and distorted because we were too close to the speakers. I loved the show. But at times...it was entirely too loud. Not Maxwell's fault though.

Second, how did you come to the conclusion that I "ALREADY KNEW" his voice wasn't strong BEFORE I bought my ticket? You act like you know me...can you read my mind??? I bought my ticket expecting a typical Maxwell concert, which is usually awesome! This concert was my 7th one, so why would I waste money if I already thought it was NOT going to be a quality performance? Third, if you choose to respond again, you might want to take a little time and think things through, then come at me with a well informed logically contemplated comment!!! 🤨
