I wish I could give this a hundred likes. In my wildest dreams I never imagined it would be possible to capture the spirit of this symphony so perfectly on solo piano. Magnificent transcription and astonishing performance.
Perfect piano arrangement. You just transliterated the notes, without using tricks like in the Liszt Beethoven symphonies, which would make it sound better but also become unplayable except to virtuosi like Cyprien Katsaris and co. . There are some daunting passages in the last movement especially, but I am looking forward to tackle them. You just got yourself another customer for the score.
Thank you, for this "Sisyphean" work that you have done, your contribution with these reductions is extraordinary, because they can show the scale of thought and the huge palette used by this creator, unique in the history of music. "Scrolling" destroyed the "big thought". But still, thanks to work like yours, we can learn and resurrect the great Neo-Romanticism!
How refreshing! (What about Mahler's 8th? 😉Ha! Just kidding.) Someone mentioned below how great it would be to have a recording of what you've done. I agree. Thanks for putting your work on UA-cam!
I think that above the fantastic arrangement and brilliant performance, the way he keeps the same energy as an entire orchestra is surely one of the greatest achievements in piano history! I hope these arrangement get performances, even if there is an orchestra on hand.
It must have required a tremendous amount of time, I’m very admirative, Thank’s a lot for displaying the musical score. My dream is to be able to play the third mouvement.
This is an incredible arrangement, which I too will most likely be buying and playing at home. Thank you so much for putting in the work to make this! I have not heard any performance of Mahler's 1st that does not make me cry at the final return of the "triumph" theme (53:22 here), and this arrangement was no exception. Well done!
Absolutely magnificent arrangement and performance! You are truly a genius. Mahler and Farrington: a winning combination (even though it sounds like the name of a law firm!) 😁😁😁
Amazing all the work you put into this for us to enjoy. Thanks! Is there a symphony 2 and 8? I'm not familiar with Mahler, but I better start listening to the symphonies first, then the piano scores, kind of like what I did with Beethoven's 9 symphonies.
Thanks. I'm not going to arrange or record the 8th Symphony, as it is essentially a vocal piece that requires hundreds of singers to be effective (which I don't have!)
0:08- 1st movement
16:14- 2nd movement
23:47- 3rd movement
35:31- 4th movement
I can't even fathom how difficult this must have been, both to arrange and to perform. Bravo!
Bravissimo!
I hope that you can release recordings of a complete Mahler cycle in Piano solo.

I have listened to this symphony so many times, and now I can know the melody in a different and beautiful way. Thank-you so much.

I've been looking for a good piano transcription of this symphony! TYSM for this :)

This is a great arrangement, and a great performance, thank you. Mahler 1 is probably my favorite piece of all time, I really enjoyed this
Magnific! Bravissimo!

As Liszt did with Beethoven, you did for Mahler, congrats maestro!
Gostaria muito de ouvir a Symphony No 8 in transcription for piano. Seria fantástic!

19:40. 22:32. 26:45 very Russian theme
The more I listen to it the better it gets...and, heresy I know, but I admit to being a little weary of the orchestral version
