Purse can also mean handbag and that's the shape of the lock. As people have also mentioned it's called a disk-detainer lock, a bunch of disks that each need to be rotated to the right place, when they are a side bar can fall into place,. The sidebar would be the long peice you could see going the lengh of the lock. The pin/tool you got looks like a normal key pin (from a pin tumbler lock, not from a disk detainer), so kinda cute that it's used as a tool to decode the disk detainer.
    Keep up the awesome work!

Did the author disclose how the lock was modified in the first place? This lock type should rotate approximately 90-95 degrees to clockwise direction from the starting position with wrong (or partially inserted) key and about 180 degrees to open the lock with a correct key. If the key rotates full rotation the lock core has been modified. One possible modification that comes to my mind is to use thinner sidebar than normally and using the end of the sidebar as the locking part for the lock instead of core cylinder that this lock type normally uses.

I guess as you said that if you know about lock picking it would be easier. There should be something in the instructions that tells you this, otherwise it is impossible to solve. Could be very frustrating and I am sure it is NOT a cheap puzzle!

cool puzzle what no graphic description on paper. seemed more manipulation- less science of understanding on how it was unlocked,.also the one key -doesn't it allow you to unscrew the bolt on shackle as the cut out key does?as a result its a 4/5.

you did well for it not being your forte. it’s 7/5 on the difficulty scale bc you’re not familiar with all the nuances of lock picking, but you still got steps correct because part of the solve was sequential discovery. My mistake would have been to put the post back together on the swivel end, which would have not led me to seeing the pin hole or being able to put pressure on the shackle. I was like, why isn’t he… and then it dawned on me, you screw the post together and then you can’t put pressure on the shackle. oops. Also! who would have guessed what the meaning of the engraving was?! You did! that was, even if accidental, really cool!

Send it to LPL lockpickinglawyer, tell him not to watch this video, and see how fast he can open this.

Did you know that every 1000000 people who die at least 2 of them dont come back to life?

That's hilarious, the puzzle was just making a rudimentary disc detainer pick.

Its got a side bar to defeat as well. With a strange way to engage it.

A "purse" is the thing women carry with them, and keep all sort or crap in them. :)
Btw, did your channel turn into the LockPickingLawyer? lol

More like lock picking than puzzling. The only real puzzle part was unscrewing the 'hinge' to get the little pin. Well done nonetheless

If it weren't for those instructions, I would have reached for the pick that LPL and Bosnian Bill created. :)

You would need to use the pick that bosnian bill and lpl made.
