It was a real pleasure to hear Richard Zimmerman's excerpts from Treemonisha. I suspect he may have started from the original piano and vocal score prepared by Joplin himself and published by the New York Public Library in the early 70's. But he appears to have embellished it and given these wonderful melodies a new life. I particularly enjoyed what he did with the Aunt Dinah chorus. Fred Coleman
Wasn't either the original piano score or original instrumental score lost? I thought i heard once they had to recreate the instrumental parts from the original piano score or maybe i have it backwards
@@dragorn3212 it was the orchestration only that was lost. Joplin submitted a piano-vocal score. That’s why certain performances have slightly different orchestration embellishments if you were wondering.
