- Australia Gets "Right to Disconnect" | Vantage with Palki Sharma | Subscribe to Firstpost
Australians have gotten the “Right to Disconnect" after working hours. As part of the legislation, employees can ignore work calls, emails, and texts out of hours. The law does not ban contact after work hours but employers can't punish workers who refuse to pick up the phone. Australia has joined nearly 20 countries in protecting employee after hours. Does the Right to Disconnect work? What are the benefits and downsides? Does the Right to Disconnect harm productivity? How are Australians reacting to the legislation.

In India, Pvt sector employees need this law
Same sector employees work overtime just to get better rating and gain over own colleague, who is refusing to work on weekend, no one can force any one for working during off time untill your friend sitting beside you is also ready to do same.😂
It is right to disconnect, not forced disconnect.
It's made the managers and end of year appraisal review that much easier. The person who willingly stretches and works over weekends gets better hike!
First in india there should be labour law implemented correctly 😂
that's far fetched . First there needs to be proper labour laws .
Our government is full of cowards who will not do anything to impose strong labour laws in the country. Our people are slogging just so that the bosses have a better life.
In Australia it is a social crime to be an employer. As soon as you employ someone you are financially and legally responsible for his mental health, his family issues, his standard of living and the amount of carbon emissions he and his family emit every year.
If corporations want people to work - they should pay. The right to disconnect should be a human right
It was always a right Nobody is forcing you to pick up the call LoL 😂
SBI employees already follow this in India😂
What are you talking about, they never work in the first place. Such laziness in the environment when we visit sbi
Completely agree😊
LoL
Hahaha funny
The government sector employees follows this practice within work hours
Right to disconnect after work should become basic human rights everywhere! Especially in my country India
I have worked for many years with Australian client and have rarely found them working after their 4 pm, maximum it would be 5 pm and never ever at their weekends...
Legends. Get some life in ya
Govt employees in India already have this right since ages.....in fact they have the right to disconnect even during work hours 😂😂😂
Well, someone seems too frustrated for not able to crack govt exam even in reserved quota. 😅😅
😂😂😂
@@aniketb.2211 someone got burnt for pointing out the facts 😂
This is not about cracking, it is about how efficient our govt sector runs...@@aniketb.2211
🤪
This should not be optional, but a crime not to disconnect. 😂😂
Can you imagine “Disconnect from work” in India ? Disconnect from work ; disconnect from eating!!😂😂😂
Disconnect from livelihood ....you are fired other workaholic is hired😂
I spent 6.5 years on call when off duty. Everyone else got back pay. By time I found out it was too late. Arizona Department of Transportation Areonautics division #Grand Canyon National Park Airport, Exposed to AFFF that entire time.
We need this law everywhere
This type of right should be introduced....after working hours..... people should have the right to disconnect
But what about Indians working in Australia under Indian managers?
Please give the "Right to Disconnect" for Research Scholars all over the world, especially India 🙏🙏🙏
Research scholars are not considered students, neither employees - THE most exploited working group ever.
Not good for business, and in the long term not good for employees.
right to disconnect is a choice.. so if an employee makes it... He's unproductive ... damn
Bank employees need this in India
This is a very good move 👍👍👍
1. This will lead Australian companies to outsource to other countries on an accelerated basis.
2. This will make it way easier for employees who wish to crush it to dominate over their 9-5 colleagues.
You're GIFTED PALKI, beautifull face, eyebrows. ❤❤❤. you are REAR of all INDIANS in SPEAKING, GRAMNARS, and intonation❤
Well said!
Seventy five years ago India and Pakistan were one country but today we can’t compare them .
God bless India.
I too feel the same to have our own space to mind… work should maintain their limit and let the staff have their own privacy to keep
This why they are called the developed world.
U don't belong there
Perhaps u might have some malfunction
People are overworked in the US.
Unfortunately, it’s not so easy to implement this in healthcare. So sad that nurses and doctors especially junior doctors are made to work for hours and hours.
Our government officials needs *opponent law* , especially SBI ☑️🙏
. . . . .... until there is an internal shift you will never achieve the true right to disconnect . . . . . 👍🏼
In India we are overworked and overwhelmed
it's more to do with the incredible amount of people in India until your population decreases by half .. you'll never be able to disconnect
@@hayleyfay4779 educated Hindus have one or two kids or no kids as we fear financial stability, upbringing of kids in a right way...Whilst Muslims breed like 12 to 15 kids...we are yet to instill some sense to Muslims about reproducing n bring a law
Ones Subroto Rai said if you have not completed your work in 8 hours that means you are incompetent. Good move
I think whole of Europe has this law for ages.
We have to see how it will work and law enforcement.
The question is: ‘whether one wants to work or not wants to work’, is the key to the decision making power resting in the hands of the working class.
Pakistan
This law is actually required in India where bosses think that they can disturb the employee even at 10 or 12 in the night and I have worked with people abroad and I have seen their work culture. They are too specific about their work timings and they aware about it, weekends, specifically in the US
Govt employees of India have this privilege during work hours also for decades.
What happens to global companies working different timelines
People who need to can work in shifts and then disconnect appropriately
Amen to all Indians
In Tamilnadu govt ,we want it 😢. To lead a peaceful life !!!
This law does not have any impact in Australia. Like aptly said work culture does not change.
Globally need this. Overworking for someone else dreams
F your productivity,,people 1st,
HOPE THE POLICE ARE PART OF THIS LAW TO DISCONNECT
I love this am following the same all my life ..its wellbeing of human kind as employee..... If i follow, all can follow, its only mental way of thinking
It can only work if the company is in the same country workforce in Same country market in same country.
In sub continente - we are all disconnected 😂😂😂😂
I am lovin it 🎉
It should be also Implemented in India...
Japan already have that, ...
Australia kinda thinking on it...
Indians don't even ask ! They just do it !
Bcz ancient cultures deeply rooted in'em
But unfortunately money and need bombarded , yes, bombarded influence keeling the wisdom and knowledge
Absolutely needed in India
Narayana Murthy needs to learn from this😂
Getting your daughter married to 🇬🇧 while expecting his people to work 80 hours a week😮
Narayan Murthy just left the chat
😆🤪😂🤣
So true. God bless you ms palki ❤
All govt offices in India work as they wish particulary in AP.
Yes .. I am happy with the law but 90% of companies anyway follow strict 9am to 5pm rule anyways
India should introduce this Law soon
Absolutely!
If not, you are like slaves for money.
This is much required in India
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Best thing ever !
ऑस्ट्रेलिया की जनता आजाद है, गुलाम जनता वाले देश ऐसा कानून सहन नहीं करते । Indians ! did you get my point ? 😄😄😄
Okay, in India, we work from 10 to 7, while abroad they work from 9 to 5 and typically have Saturdays off. In India, we work from Monday to Saturday, so it's a little sad that we don't have any "me time." By Saturday, you get so exhausted and drained, and there's no excitement to socialize.
very good research. Keep doing things like this.
DONT GET INTO US POLITICS AND ELECTION. ONCE IS ENOUGH FOR YOU.
For medical field employees
I work for 12 hrs...and half of it is on stupid support call..
They must resign… right to disconnect… why are you doing such a job which is not joyous in your own frame … why are you making a zombie out of yourself 🤣🤣🤣
I don't know when it became a normal thing or mandatory thing to receive office calls or work calls during weekends or non working hours just because you have phone & internet.
SBI employees is one that true indian.....but all r not a true indian.....😊😊😊😊
Good move from aus govt
She doesn't understand right to disconnect is a choice not forced. If employees want they can still work. But she wants casually defend Indian approach to overworking and mistreatment by pvt sector and failure of govt to bring better regulations
Disconnect employees will be disconnected. The question is reasonable. The internet has made everything global . Just know what you are getting into.
We need Right to recharge anytime without disruption ,without immediate cutting call service from providers...😅
We need this in India
This is needed for Indian school teachers...they are the most stressed people
While ‘ Right to disconnect ‘ is ethically right , can be misused to a great extent. Hence there should be fair and robust conditions imposed to ensure that whimsical or ego related disconnection, misuse does not happen.
Just because India doesn’t have this culture, this woman will never wholly praise this law. Had been an Indian thing she would have raved about how needed and absolute this law is. Been watching her for years now and can clearly see the bias reporting
People are already disconnected at many levels 😂😂😂 this could be another add to the mix! Just kidding ! It is a good think not to swamp with office work every where !!
This have even in India, for almost all the Government employees
Mr.Narayamurthy opposes it.
Someone's who get holiday on Sunday is good for them🙏
This should be in India 🇮🇳
Govt employees in india doing in india from past 50 years
Hare Krishna se connect 🙏❤
India need this badly....
Impose in private sector in India
Should be in india bz here is no limit of working hours for companies
In India no labour laws only😅😅😅
Can we have the right to disconnect during 9-5?😂
Australians on the track to become India
What about emergencies
In India govt employees are already following this ;
👍
Vote : india should have this
Narayan Murti😂😂😂
Please try to provide subtitle. Thanks
Time is worthy😮😮😮😮😮😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😮😮😮
Hope India adopts this
What a stupid law. It is simply not the governments job. Just more crap that pits the worker against the business owner.
Unfortunately any stupid dickhead can own a business these days and not all of them know how to treat employees. So this is what happens.
Does it apply to every profession? Imagine a doctor ignoring emergency call or a soldier on leave ignoring calls During invasion of the country.b
They teach us to keep
We have to move to Australia to get the benefits 😂 never gone happen in India
Narayan Murthy laughing at the corner
Palkie cool down
