In their tribe if this is a true member and they aren't doing this for spectating, this man would have been thought of very highly and seen as if he was a demi-god because of this. The reason they do this is to show themselves in maturing development and also to entertain and help god qnd the closer you get to the ground and the higher up you are the more god will respect the jumper. God must have thought very highly of this man to let him do something as dangerous as that and be OK to get right up.

I saw some of this years ago and they had one guy had misjudged the length and he slammed right into the dirt. He was still okay.
They till that area of dirt so it becomes pretty mushy and it acts like a cushion of sorts. Still extremely dangerous.
