There was and still is major corruption at the park. At one time it was a fantastic place to visit. A good many times there were no parking spots to be found because the park was packed with people. It was spotless and well maintained with a great group of employees. At some point the money set aside every year for upkeep went straight to people's pockets. There has been efforts to bring the park back to life but that whole town is corrupt. The coolest thing, I think, is the park the park being in the movie "The Road". If you want a depressing location for a post apocalyptic movie look no further than NW PA.
I remember in the early 1970's the park had a great walk through fun house, complete with tilted floors, rolling barrel walk through, slides, slated boards the moved in alternate directions on the floor with hand rails to help you balance and of course a hall of weird distorting mirrors. Toward the end of the '70's they gutted the building that the fun house was in, took a scrambler ride, painted it with fluorescent paint and put it inside with black lights and stobe lights. It was a neat, "self-created" ride. The ride was called "The Ultimate Trip".
I feel really bad for the staff, they look like they know the park sucks, but honestly are trying everything in their power to make it better, and not only are they cool, they have to manually do most of the stuff there. These people don't deserve to be working here unless they want to.
I remember seeing some of the wood falling off the bluestreak as it operated when I was a kid and that was all the way back in the 80s. Its a miracle that thing is still standing.
LMAO. I've been here. This was my dad's local park when he was a kid, in the 40s and 50s! Gotta say the vibes are great there, even if most of the rides make you vaguely fear for your life. 😂
Fun fact: the guy who used to be in charge of maintenance and management at this park runs a company that maintains wooden coasters across the country, and is now employed by the State Department of Agriculture's Department of Rides and Measurements, specifically overseeing rides inspections and maintenance. Met him at a state ride inspectors' seminar when I was taking my state inspector's test and he had some super sketchy pictures to share of parks through out the country.

Man, I grew up in Erie and my dad took me here the summer I hit 48'' to ride my first big girl ride because Ravine Flyer II didn't exist yet. I marathoned Blue Steak all day long and fell in love with coasters right then and there. The ride slaps. (And you can ride a mirror at Cedar Point, same name and everything, if you wanna know what the ride would feel like if the park had more then ten dollars to work with)
I just love the history behind this park.. it was insane back in its prime.. the blue streak is actually the 17th oldest roller coaster in the United States built in 1937! It’s so sad to see how destroyed the park has become over the years bc of arson and vandalism, but it’s awesome that it’s still up and running!
The Blue Streak was the first roller coaster my Dad ever rode, as well as the first one I rode. My Dad would tell the story of being a little kid riding it for the first time and being scared shitless and wanting to get out of the cart and walk down the little wooden planks to get off the ride!
@ 8:45- Not only did I damn near split my sides laughing after ride-attendant dude smacks that rider on the forehead; but was also rolling with laughter at the purely abnormal & incorrect translation of the CC (closed Captioning).... if you haven’t, check that shit out- it’s off the wall randomness
When did they take the 4th car off the train? When I rode it there were 4 cars per train. Of course the last time I rode Blue Streak Conneaut Park still had their Ben Schiff Wild Mouse......LOL
The shakiness etc is what makes wooden coasters so magical. They all look like they are going to fall. It's part of the atmosphere of the ride and adds to it, imo. Definitely adding this to my list.
My brother took me there in 2014. Blue Streak was fun but rough. It reminded me a bit of the old Mean Streak at Cedar Point. Pros about this coaster however are the airtime and the nostalgia. It reminded me a lot of the first coaster I rode at Geauga Lake when I was little. I was sad to see it go.
We use to go every year in the late 50's and it was really nice then. The line to get on the blue streak were tremendous. The cars were different and it was the highest wooden coaster. The track was rebuilt. The park was closed for a couple years and has not come into its former glory. Without the crowd of people there isn't much $ for repairs so I guess it's just a matter of time before it too will be abandoned. Shame.

“Did you guys see a kid in there?” Omg 😂 I’m from PA and had heard about this place, but never went, I knew they had some financial issues, but I didn’t know it was falling apart like this, how is this place allowed to operate?
I honestly would have fun here 😂
RIP Blue Streak....
RIP :'( Watching this video in memory of the Blue Streak
Funny Love the title "PA's sketchiest amusement park" They should trademark that
Man, I grew up in Erie and my dad took me here the summer I hit 48'' to ride my first big girl ride because Ravine Flyer II didn't exist yet. I marathoned Blue Steak all day long and fell in love with coasters right then and there. The ride slaps. (And you can ride a mirror at Cedar Point, same name and everything, if you wanna know what the ride would feel like if the park had more then ten dollars to work with)
Hearing TTD’s launch noise over the guy gently pushing the shopping cart train at 5:02 absolutely killed me
I think the people who built this park were trying for a renaissance fair but ended up with an amusement park.
Yeah I went there over the summer. That coaster had me scared to death on the way up the hill and saw boards missing...
I just love the history behind this park.. it was insane back in its prime.. the blue streak is actually the 17th oldest roller coaster in the United States built in 1937! It’s so sad to see how destroyed the park has become over the years bc of arson and vandalism, but it’s awesome that it’s still up and running!
Diggin the party boy music, great choice man.
RIP Blue Streak. You didn't deserve your ill fate.
rip blue streak
Looks like Flounder has discovered Meth, and Loved it!
Sketchy is Right!
Hilarious! 😂🐎😂🐎😂🐎🤠👍💫🕊
The Blue Streak was the first roller coaster my Dad ever rode, as well as the first one I rode. My Dad would tell the story of being a little kid riding it for the first time and being scared shitless and wanting to get out of the cart and walk down the little wooden planks to get off the ride!
Got much entertainment out of this clip. Nice work capturing the atmosphere.
Man, that looked pretty fun, for ten bucks that's a good day.
Very nice video and that park does have character. Thanks for posting and have a nice day too.
No one:
Park operator: _yall yall yall conneaut lake blbue streak!!!_
Truly a CLASSIC piece of film making genius. Two big thumbs up. Part comedy ... Part horror!
RIP Blue Streak
I got off with massive dizziness and neck pain lol, that was back in 2012. 8 more years of wear and tare...
3:38 the sad hanging half dead plants, my gosh, those people aren't kidding around with their neglect.
When did they take the 4th car off the train? When I rode it there were 4 cars per train. Of course the last time I rode Blue Streak Conneaut Park still had their Ben Schiff Wild Mouse......LOL
THE greatest amusement park of my childhood...fond memories for sure.
The shakiness etc is what makes wooden coasters so magical. They all look like they are going to fall. It's part of the atmosphere of the ride and adds to it, imo. Definitely adding this to my list.
"Coaster idiots ride the haunted lady at hotel conneat"
Shame.
Late 60s for me,was a fun park then.
I grew up going to Conneaut Lake Park. The Blue Streak was my roller coaster. It was in better shape in the late 60's-70's
*was my first roller coaster
Omg Beavis with a Chainsaw! Automatic upvote
The Blue Streak burnt down last night.
Now that it’s all gone it’s great you guys got this at prob the best the park had looked in a while.
Also how sick is that bridge! I went there once in peak foliage and it blew me away.
Spent a couple of summers there in the ‘60’s, back when it was actually a functional park.
