wow! things have really changed with this band...nothing like it use to be....I was a member from 1992 - 1996 (go trumpets) and we were undefeated with national rankings under the direction of Dr. David Daigenault...wished he would have stayed...we traveled everywhere including New York...yes I was apart of the 1995 Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, an experience I treasure. We truly were the best...but times have changed...can't be on top forever...
i like that and everyone else in grenada should do the same. especially considering that tennessee thinks mississippi bands suck. all of our bands need to be awesome so we can prove them wrong. By the way a message to everyone in general. what you get as a placement is equal to the overall desire for that spot. you earn it with how much you want it and whether or not you are willing to try to your fullest to obtain or say we did our best so i am happy.
and find some real competition. We were like that ridiculously smart kid in class who gets bored with the work so he stops trying. We found some real bands that can hit and march and we wanted to take them down. We didn't run away with our tails between our legs we ran off to fight bigger dogs.
who was your head director. by the way there is no saying that you can't be great because you still are it just needs to be watched when people get cocky they can't be as good because they get lazy and think they are already the best so why should they have to practice as hard. i really want this to be an intense year with mississippi bands. Atleast your band didn't suffer as much as tupelo from cockiness though who went from first place all the way down to 7th place.
thats what i'm saying...grenada is really really really good i'm not doubting that at all in the least. its just that pearl has the national rankings to boast of and prove that statement false...
sry pearl but grenada, petal, southaven, harrison central and probably even desoto central are better than your band but you are good. southaven, petal and grenada are definitely neck and neck though. this year is going to be intense if all of these bands go to state. it will be something everyone should see. who will win? will grenada win and claim their throne back; will petal win and knock southaven off the top, or will southaven be the second band to claim state twice in a row in 5A!
