They could just burn the moss, instead of letting lightning ignite the tree sap and burning it.
But you showed a picture of grazing sheep.Aren't there birds and other wildlife in the moors?
Camels and Lizards live in deserts, it's a limited biome. A step down from the biodiversity that was once in the countryside landscapes
