@@ethanpowell6069 It's crazy, right? Somehow a 1 mana -> draw 2 isn't an instant staple at max quantity. It's a strange world we live in. Thanks for the kind words, Ethan :)
Extract a Confession is a super good card in affinity because you can use cards like thoughtcast to pay for the evidence easily to get rid of their biggest threats. It matches well against gruul stompy, bogles, and terror.
@@angelopaulovelasco2981 Yeah, I'm excited to try it out in the sideboard! I could even see going up to 2 copies, but I don't know what I would cut - maybe the Spellbomb.
Getting some nice traction on your recent vids which is nice to see. I think it is a cool idea to show changes though out one video to show if these were positive or negative changes and not many other people do that kind of content which is cool.
@@netoleal4798 Yeah for sure! Over time, I think I'm drifting closer to his list. With that said, individual playstyle and "local" metagame do play a role. It may be that the decks I'm facing in these tournaments don't mirror the Pauper League or Challenge meta exactly. Thanks for watching :)
A lot of Affinity grinders don't play luffys list tho, and they destroy. I ran his list a couple times and liked it for sure, but the deck is just broken and many lists are the right ones with the configuration against mono red and something for mirrors. That said: the deck can run basically a lot of lists and it has no "Best List" at all, with windows open for a lot of changes and tastes.
Hey, great content! Just a curiosity, in 19:50 isn't it better to cast shaman instead of ichor to destroy land and a token while still hold the counter? I think madness need 3-4 lands to operate
Personally, I like to get a bit greedier with my Gorilla Shaman. I would've only been able to blow up one land and then had a choice between blowing up a blood token and holding up the Blue Blast. I also like to play Wellspring when I can. It meant taking the turn off here for the most part, but I didn't have anything else in play yet that I would be happy with sacrificing to a Deadly Dispute or Reckoner's Bargain.
Super interesting video. Recently I've tried gearseeker serpent lile Walker735 did. I think having a bigger creature is very strong against Terror and gruul decks and most of the time they are cheaper than kenku artificer. Also having a big creature that doesn't die to galvanic or cast into the fire is gold against every red deck. I still prefer Negate over Duress in the sideboard but I think they cover almost the same role and choosing between the two is a matter of gamestyle. Also they cover the white decks matchups becaise they are a clean answer to dust to dust
@@mrB-f150 That's a super good point when it comes to Dust to Dust. I think I'd really prefer Negate vs. White because I'd be scared of discarding their Strands, Battle Screech, Rally the Peasants, etc. with Duress. I'll have to check out Walker's build because it's not obvious to me right now how I'd fit in the Serpents.
Since my deck has trouble against flyers in general, I wanted to take care of the Kitchen Imp for good, and because of the Candy Trail, I had enough life to keep digging through the deck and use the Bargain later.
Why dont you include Sneaky Snackers? I ended up slotting 4 because you will be constantly putting them on board from the graveyard everytime you dispute/bargain, and you can even target them for dispute/bargain too. I found out it totally ruins a lot of decks by having constant blockers, and its a great way to go around the many counters of decks like dimir and blue tempo. Sure, it gets a bit distant from the affinity theme, but we are trying to win, not to keep it themed, dont we? I play 2 krark in main and 2 in sideboard, 4x myr, 4x refurbished and 4x sneaky snacker. To compensate, I play only 2 galvanic, 2 ichors and 1 nihil in main. I really urge you to try it out!
@@Azkeden I keep getting reminded of cards that I should've put in the "considering" section of the video! I guess the theory is that having to take a turn off the cast a Sneaky Snacker is a little slow, but the potential value is super tempting. Would you be down to see a follow-up video or videos where I try the deck with some of these suggestions?
@@RoyceCCG I would absolutely watch it. As a matter of fact, I got your video from my YT's fyp and Im now suscribed hahaha Also, about the sneaky snacker, I usually try cast one as soon as turn 2 if able, since that will "mark" the game from the start considering how much draw the deck has. For just 2 mana you will almost always have a 2/1 flier to block unless they sideboard some graveyard hate, but then they are wasting slots to fight 4 cards out of your 60 cards deck :P
MTGO clock is a issue for players that wanna play and talk about the games and such. I wish there was a way to have a clock but still time to play slower to do such things creating content :( A nice video about the champs. ^^
@@FredHawkMTGO Thanks for the comment, Fred! The time is what it is. I like it better than the in-person time system because it only punishes the slow player. I just have to get faster, haha.
That last match against Gruul feels like it was unwinnable for any fair deck, and I wouldn't update too hard based on your loss. Altisaur->Boarding Party->Hunter followed by another Altisaur->Boarding Party cascade in the same game is completely disgusting.
@@markolson8569 Yeahhhh, it was rough. I think going further into KCS + Toxin territory is something I'm willing to do though because they also help against the other go-tall-smash-face decks I've seen a lot in these events.

The best way to improve your pauper affinity deck is to just copy luffy's list
