Both people are to blame, and Tom's explaining what drove him to do what he did. He didn't say he's a victim or reject responsibility for his part in the situation. Ariana hasn't taken any blame whatsoever, meaning she hasn't truly looked at herself or how she drove Tom to the brink.

Swartz broke his wife Katie and allowed Sandoval to belittle Katie. Allowed Sandoval and Rachel to come after Katie and her mom. Sandoval lied and cheated and lead with his ego and it crashed.
Katie belittled Schwartz throughout their ENTIRE relationship, along with everyone else she was jealous of or disliked. Then she banged one of his best friends to get back at him. Katie isn't some prize. She's horrendous.

He chose to avoid the confrontation with Ariana about his true feelings because he was afraid of the hurt! Well, what he did caused more hurt to more people. If you don't believe it then you really are in denial about men. I have 3 older brothers and we've talked about break ups with their girlfriends before on many occasions. Most men will take the cowards way if they can help it. This is why men ghost instead communicating, they distance themselves, cheat, behave weirdly, act immature. They end marriage via texts etc.

If the relationship wasn't working, break up, it's what Tom said about Ariana after the affair was unforgivable. He said horrible things and continued to say horrible things.
