  • One of our very first history lessons in elementary is the triumphant story of a fearless Filipino who fought Spanish invaders in April 27, 1521.
That’s Lapu-Lapu - the legendary fighter who killed Ferdinand Magellan.
It’s also known as the 'Battle of Mactan.'
And someone out there is putting together a grand Diorama that depicts this very important part of our nation’s history.
Joining us now is the Project Manager of this Dioroma, Arli John Nim, who’s with the Sulu Garden Foundation.

If you did an in-depth research, it was not Lapu-lapu who killed Magellan. It was one of his soldiers, but because he is the Rajah at that time, the credits went to him. (Credit Hogs are already existing back then. I know, right?) Also, he doesn't have a gym bod, he's obese AF. Visit Fort San Pedro in Cebu to know the real history.

You are absolutely right a filipino historian Dr. Gerona even said that Lapu-Lapu was around 70 yrs old during that battle or skirmish.
