I actually really like this product. I see it as being a great product for high school kids or even uni kids for simple tasks of taking down notes in class and media consumption. Plus the battery life gives you peace of mind that it'll last throughout the day of use.
My wife got this to use with her treadmill, it has bluetooth connectivity for workout apps and lives on the mounting bracket on the treadmill. It's perfect for this, there is no need for powerful hardware, just good battery life and speakers. For the price it's surprisingly well made. Much better build quality than her old galaxy tab 8.4, better sound and the fingerprint reader is excellent too. We don't really use tablets for anything else as we prefer computers, but the tablet does fill this niche nicely.
"Its incredibly difficult as a reviewer to anticipate what you might do with it" As long as i can se Keisha Grey in HD without lag, im fine. Give me whatever.
I've got the 8.4" M3, and I've found this size to be a lot more useful than my older 10" tablet. It is semi-portable, can fit in a large pocket, and works well for news, banking (the fingerprint scanner was really nice for quick logon), and other simpler things - while I use my desktop setup for more intensive stuff. While the things I use the MediaPad for could also be done on my phone, the in-between screen size is just a lot nicer at home.
Thank you. Thinking about this vs the new Samsung Tab 8 (2019). Need something mainly for highlighting PDF files using Xodo App, reading books via the Kindle App, and using the Stylus to take notes.
Does this tablet have the wifi/Bluetooth problem the M5 pro and 8.4 have? The issue is documented well on the xda forums. I also hear that the stylus is not sold separately nor are replacement nibs for the stylus.
The same bt wifi issues here. Have buy it yesterday and return it directly because this issue is pain in the ass. Sad cause I like it for all other Specs.
i think there are still plenty of times when a tablet is needed over a phone - I use my Honor Pad 5, as you said, in the kitchen while cooking or cleaning to play UA-cam in the background, I use it to stream videos over Netflix etc at night or while eating food when people are sleeping and I can't use the TV. I take it out with me on holidays to watch a few episodes of my favourite show. Watching content on a 16:10 tablet is way more comfortable than on my 19.5:9 6 inch phone.
Can you tell me if shading is possible with the M Pen - you mentioned it for the iPad but not the Mediapad. Thank you for doing this review, overall very helpful 😀
It's such a shame that android tablets are rarely any good, especially in the long run. have to say, I haven't tested out Huawei tablets, but pretty much every other brand on the market, the tablets just felt bad after a very short while (and weren't on bar with any decent smart phones either with similar hardware). I'm not a big fan of Apple, but at least I can depend on their tablet running alright with very little extra cost compared to android tablets.
I'm dissapointed that all the manufacturers have given up on any tablet innovations. I don't want to use iOS because it doesn't make a good productivity tablet and lack of usable media and file managment, but no android tablet comes with the same high end hardware you can get in even a $350 Chinese phone.
