This album is an absolute gem . First heard it in the 1970's . I'm 65 now , and just listened to it again in December 2024 . Jesus is the same yesterday , today , and forever . In our hearts to stay . Maranatha . Come quickly , Lord Jesus .
What a wonderful and inspiring musician this woman is. I saw her in concert at our local church years and years ago ..what a blessing then as she is now. A distinctive voice for Jesus Christ with a heart after His own heart. I love this woman..
I saw Honeytree in concert in DC around 1979 and I've been singing her songs for decades. She was at the infancy of Contemporary Christian music. I first heard her in a Christian coffee house/deli and have been a fan ever since.
This album is probably not known to a lot of people, but this is a GREAT album. There's just nothing out there like it. It's kind of like the Christian version of a Joni Mitchell album....full of a lot of inner thoughts with the added aspect of her relationship to God. Priceless.
@@elshaddai87 I would not say Carole King because I don't think of her music as personal. Her husband wrote the lyrics and they came up with stuff to sell to the various artists. Honeytree's album here is very personal. As is Joni Mitchell.
@@writerjmd You make a very good point. I googled Gerry Goffin and had had no idea how many of the lyrics of songs I love (by many different artists) were written by him. Wow! Yes, Joni's lyrics are from her heart, not given to her by someone else.
@@lauriejackson4576 Yes. I just finished reading the autobiography of Carole King, and her attempts at writing lyrics weren't very successful until later in her career. Nice that you researched this!
It's so nice to hear Honey Tree again....I got saved in 1976 and she was one of my first album purchases !! :) ( I still have the album....but no record player) :) God bless you.
Melody Merrymaker so glad to hear that..Maranatha marathon was my first album and I still have and play , it's so nice to hear how God reinforces our faith through songs.
I got saved in '75 as did most of my immediate family. Our first Christian records included Nancy Honeytree, Alexander John, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Malcolm and Alwin, and Randy Matthews. I've not heard this album. Sweet. Nancy has such a beautiful voice.
Same here. Got saved in 1976. Discovered her music shortly thereafter. Her songs are so heart touching and sincere. We saw her in concert at our church in the late 70s. She was so sweet.
"the crying may last one night but the joy will come in the morning," Nancy's song has comforted my heart when I listen to it late at night since my father passed away, a very precious blessing.
I dread the day my father will pass and I know it's coming soon. I am stressed out from not seeing him, but I don't think they want me to come and visit. Is it to protect me from how much weight he's lost and how he's not himself on most days? It's really not that far only 8 hours away but I am in my mid 60s now finding it hard to travel that distance. I guess I'm a little afraid to see him at this weight down from 220 to 155. Prayers appreciated and any advice would be good 🙏
"I Know Two People Who Do" was sung at my parents' wedding in 1976. Now after 42 years of faithful marriage and ministry together my mom is terminally ill. Especially fitting are the words "Do you feel that your promise will live 'till you die? I know in Jesus you do."
Job's Song has stuck with me all these years. I've sung it many times. Today I received a gift card which I actually needed to drive home from work. The gas pump had a glitch and it will take days to refund. So I got $5 in gas. Enough for today but tomorrow I'm empty again. "The Lord it is who gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord!"
I have also received Jesus as my savior in this decade and remember well the no 10 of this album. The '70s were very special for the Jesus movement. Thank you for posting this album :-)
Has Blessed me since 1972,also saw her at the big Washington For Jesus rally! also a reunion tour of Christian performers here in Houston! Great voice and Christian!
CCM International - I was blessed to record in the eighties with Chuck Girard. It was so much fun. All night session in Torrance, CA Chuck arrived soaking wet and we all ate tons of ice cream b4 he sang (usually a “no-no” for vocalists). Great memories also of my wife babysitting Phil Keaggy’s kids a few times. I sent demos home with them for Phil to evaluate. So gracious. Later I was honored to warm up for him in Costa Mesa one night.
@@ccminternational1722 this music isnt simple! The average musician cannot play these songs note for note! Accurately. This is more on an advanced level!
@@ccminternational1722 Actually the lyrics then were deeper and richer than anything out there nowadays. People were meditating on Gods written Word back then. JESUS was their FIRST LOVE. The Church has to repent and return back to Jesus.....seek Him with all of their hearts daily.
From Buffalo, N.Y. WOW has Christian music changed over the years big time. Sorry to say it's sort of become a money maker. The real heart of singing unto the Lord seems to have escaped the church. Phill Keagy, was my first album then Dallas Holm, Keith Green and many others were their music really comforted one's heart.
I know! Great memories. I would have to agree to the prior comment of a Christian version of Joni Mitchell. Also, I would add a little bit of Carole King as well.

We only had one song at our wedding sung by my friend. It was Treasures. Forty-five years later the words still ring true. Thank you God!
Thanks Nancy Henigbaum for teaching me God's Word with a beautiful melody, as a new believer in the 70s.
Love Honeytree's voice and style and faithful walk with the Lord! ♥️♥️♥️

You can hear the Joni Mitchell influence who Honeytree was inspired by. Such a soothing relaxing voice. What a blessing.

Ahhhhh The simple music of the Jesus Movement.
Yes brother. The Jesus Music era it´s simple, but full of the gospel of Christ in the lyrics of his songs

A few years ago I met a Christian named Jim who was listening to Christian music and introduce me to Honey Tree her first name is Nancy

Funny enough the Christian Rapper KB had me here and just feel the Holy Spirit in this music.
This actually could be considered a Phil Keaggy album as well as a Honeytree album. Hear all those wonderful guitar parts?
Can't recall her last name?
Her last name is Herrinbaum & it is a German name meaning "honeytree" . Baum means tree.
-- Her last name is Henigbaum.

Honeytree, know that there was a Christian man who would have married you in 1976.
