Almost all of our best food is from our culture being a melting pot. But for stuff before then, the only two I can think of, that taste good, are fish and chips, and cornish pasties (but both can taste bad if done wrong)

Apple pie is English, Evan though you say in America as American as apple pie , we brought over the apples to America so we would have something familiar to eat and of course the apple pie which we had been making for centuries along with other fruits blackberry's that grow wild all over England, Scotland and Wales, and also meat pies that had been making for centuries. We have many realy old recipes that date back centuries you need to look them up, and as like in many other countries we mix things up like the chip butty, its chips served in any bread roll and then you put on what ever sauces and salt and pepper you want and of corse vinegar when it comes to the table or if your having take away, we also have alot of dried fruit cakes and mince pies and Christmas pudding with mixed sweet spices in them and Wisky or brandy in them served with custard or cream , just lots and lots of things .
