- Occult Archaeology is a presentation by Teresa Dröfn Freysdóttir Njarðvík at a meeting of the Hurstwic Heathen study group.
Runes and magic blend, and their use extends well beyond the Viking age in northern Europe. In this presentation, Teresa discusses her current research into runes, magic, and the archaeology of the occult, such as the grave finds of a völva (Viking-age seeress).
Teresa is a doctoral student at the University of Iceland, and joined us remotely from Reykjavík. She is the author of “Runes, the Icelandic Book of Fuþark".
The Hurstwic Heathen Study Group, an organization that meets monthly for informal presentations and discussions on topics of interest to heathens and to anyone with a passion for Norse-related topics.

ᛉ upside down is another rune ᛣ, some people consider it to be death but it was introduced to me as a mother rune. One of the most misunderstood aspects of magic is that your mind affects how it works, if you see it as a blessing it is, if you see it as a curse it is.
