@@memier6951 Seems like he based all of his knowledge out of some clips and preconceived notions I guess, for example I don't think fans see Nene in a particularily sexual way since she doesn't really encourage it, there's pleanty of more "sensitive" Vtubers both in Hololive, Nijisanji and among Joey's friends ironically enough. Also this whole rant about anime women and unrealistic beauty standards feels like something from one of those virtue signalling-clickbaity "feminist" sites and he kind of contradicts himself, either nobody cares about magazines that come out on paper anymore or it's a "problem" that negatively affects the society and Japanese birth rates...

As one of Nene’s husbands I’m quite happy for her. I do agree it is a little odd though (especially if it’s taken too seriously), but America did the same thing with Marge Simpson from the Simpsons that one time.
Just looked it up and can confirm Marge was on a cover of Playboy 12 years ago. According to an article it was attempt to get younger readers to buy the dying magazine.
you have a typo on "I'm quit happy" instead of "quite". The message sounds like you're not happy it. Your message is understandable but I'm just pointing it out.
Yeah I think its sort of odd but I never take this kind of stuff seriously tbh. I actually find it more funny lol. Probably more props goes to Nene's mom if you think about it.
11 minutes of Joey overthinking the impact on society and philosophy from some dumb attempt by some Japanese company to stir up drama and drive traffic to their largely irrelevant magazine only boomers read.
Yup Joey is overblowing this. The JP Playboy magazine and the Western Playboy magazines are two completely different magazines and do not share the same company. The only thing they share is the name. For more context the JP Playboy magazine is literally the same as an other magazine, they include topics such as celebrities, sports, interviews, columns, social media and even MANGA. The panel that Nenechi is in is the top most popular bishoujo influencer on UA-cam/Instagram. They even include voice actors. Want an example? No.53 is Miho Okasaki, whose the voice actor for Rimuru Tempest. 40-50 being for UA-camrs/Instragram (Nene being no.50) and 51-56 for Seiyuus. It's really not strange for them to have a column that included Nene for this. That's literally what their magazine does regularly. I'm surprised Joey doesn't know this.
Said energy is most evident during her 3D performances, where she just can't seem to stop moving in all manner of ways ranging from seemingly sensual one second to outright goofy dork the next.
Well, a couple years ago Lois Griffin was in a top 50 hottest women of all time list, as the only cartoon woman on said list, which I think is worse, since she's not even a character you can interact with in any sort of capacity
And Louis is a full character while vtubers are just a character in how they look (avatar, name) and as a streamer/conted creator have their irregular characteristcs.
@@t_cb8012 ah yes, a full character in a show where the setting resets basically every episode and where babies never get older also all influencers have "their irregular characteristics" and play a role to some degree literally the only difference is that you can't recognize a vtuber in the streets when you coincidentally run into them
In all honesty, this is really cool to see, I dont see why he's taking this so seriously. Even if her fanbase caused smthn like this to happen, it wouldn't be a bad thing, cause it just shows the support there willing to put out for there fav entertainer, but ig everyone has there own good or bad views or takes on the matter
He brought up beauty standards as to why this is a bad thing, but I think he may be a little too concerned though. I'll never look as good as Levi and like everyone else, we all have to accept that :')
@@Pheelup The "beauty standards" argument kinda shoots itself in the foot when you're talking about *Playboy Magazine*. I would even go farther and argue that showcasing an obviously and inherently fictional character design is going to do a lot less damage than glorifying the supposedly achievable beauty standards of real life models.
Probably cause Japan's got its whole declining birthrate problems and now they're doing stuff like this, and Joey is just genuinely concerned for the country.
For context, you have people who ask VTubers to be their wife (it's just a running gag) either through live chat comments or superchat. Most of the girls say "no" or "we can be friends". But Nene over here says "Alright, you can be my husband. Take a number." I can't speak on behalf of anyone, but I believe nobody takes the "husband" thing seriously. It's all for fun at the end of the day.
@@jithmalw for Nene, the other gag is.. viewers: "no, we can only be friends" if a status is easily achieved... does it have value? anyways congrats for a Seal to be featured on Playboy JP.
@@eisenklad And don't forget the occasional husband who wants out of it and the lengths Nene goes to in order to convince them to give up on the idea of a divorce! Those clips are usually my favourites from Nenechi!
9:40 I totally agree with you but couldn't this be seen in another way as the magazine's way of telling people that it's the inner beauty and the personality that matters, cause we don't know how Nene looks like but we do know her personality, and I'm not saying that there's no Character in her personality, it's definitely there but a huge part of this is still her own personality
There is a good clip of Risu (called "Risu's Opinion about VTuber Persona") where she talks about the whole "what's even fake anymore" thingy from the perspective of a vTuber
I feel that this probably requires a more nuanced take. For example; What is this list about? Only external beauty? Or also the ability to capture an audience? Is she on the list as a 2D character because she can't appear as herself? How was the ranking created? Is it based on a survey? There are so many unanswered questions that I feel half of what Joey said might not matter if any of the above questions do not portray this as "Haha Japanese people love 2D over 3D now." After all, kayfabe aside, we all know she's a real human behind the mask. And I'm pretty sure a lot of people already know WHO she is behind the mask too. It wouldn't be surprising to see her on the list TBH.
It's not a playboy magazine in the context people are thinking it's a list of bishoujos who are popular (pretty girls who are popular for their personality and works), Joey should look at the full context. It's literally a list of popular female influencers list that includes seiyuus, cosplayers and UA-camrs. no53 on the list is the voice actor for Rimuru Tempest, Miho Okasaki. Joey is overthinking this whole thing. no 40-50 are girls from UA-cam/Instagram with Nene being no50. 51-56 are voice actors.
Yeah, at first I was thrown off by this but when you take a second to think about it there simply isn’t enough information to understand the whole situation here. Other than the clickbait title of “Beautiful Women”, this list could literally be about anything. Thanks to the language barrier and lack of access to the magazine at hand, all we have are these second hand sources of questionable validity.
@@kunaladhikari5215 the playboy in japan and in the usa are COMPLETELY two different things and are not under the same company. Japan's playboy magazine is literally no different to any other magazine that talks about various topics like celebrities, sports, columns, interviews and even MANGA. They do include a sections of female models nude but its not the same as the western playboy magazine. So no, it's not out of place for this magazine.
@@MorpheusCh yup Japanese Playboy is literally more about the articles than the nudity. I mean they have Idols from like Akb48 and Nogizaka46 in them. Non nude of course.
Joey, you know that in the USA the same thing has happened many times before? From Marge Simpson (The Simpsons), and Lois Griffin (Family Guy) to Dr. Aki Ross from Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within being both on the cover AND centerfold of an edition of Maxim magazine (I still have that copy). Not Ming-Na Wen, the stunningly beautiful voice actress of Dr. Aki Ross, but Dr. Aki Ross, the character. (This was like 20 years ago when Spirits Within came out in Theaters). So why is it so surprising when Japan catches up to something the USA has been doing for like 30 years now from time to time?
(I am sorry for my terrible english) I think there is a bit of a difference between Anime and cartoon Characters,be it a fundamental one or a stigmatized one(It's weeb, and weird) It also sounds to me that what he is more baffled by,is the fact that Japanese people are starting to equal real people to fictional characthers, and wondering what that says about Japan. Now,if that is actually even a problem,I can't say.
Joey you are overblowing this if you are being serious. The Weekly Playboy Magazine from JP is a completely different magazine than the Western Playboy Magazine, they don't even share the same company. The JP Playboy magazine has pages on news, sports, celebrities, influencers, interviews, columns and even manga. The list Nene is in is the top most popular Bishoujo influencer. It doesn't have to do with beauty standards at all. no.40-50 is for the most popular JP Bishoujo UA-camr/Instagram influencer, Nene being number 50. And they even include voice actors, no.53 is Miho Okasaki who is the voice actor for Rimuru Tempest since no 51-60 is for seiyuus.
Not only we got Pekora and Miko being on top female streamers on Twitch, but now we got Super Nenechi on playboy. It's finally happening, the anime is taking over. Proud husband here as well btw.
it's simple, don't take it seriously. Many people want to be involved with Hololive for marketing purposes, I don't think it's something to analyse and get triggered by.
Man,, joey is realy blowing this out of proportion,,, saying that he cannot see this outside of japan shows that this video is probably a reflex reaction and he didnt even do a bit of research,, playboy already did this with other characters, this is clearly just a marketing move by the magazine.
There are lunatics, who are interested about vtubers in romantic and sexual ways. Some are so messed up that they actually belive that, they are in romatic relationship with the streamer and get really pissed/Jealous if the vtuber collabs with another male. Some of those male vtubers have even got death threats because of that.
@@Ernohauki So just like every single youtuber/streamer with a mostly opposite gendered audience? There are obssessed fans on the internet. Big whoop. This is not new.
Lol even if he says he doesn't care, Joey seems a bit too upset about this. Especially as he went on and on. Also only in Japan? Does no one remember Lara Croft? Or Age of Conan? Or Mass Effect? Fictional characters have long had the interest of humans, probably since the beginning. What made me surprised was that it was Nene and only her that appeared. Would have expected a few more or none and not just a single exception.
Well normies are crazy. I've seen a person says I love nene in a comment section and he got bullied by more than 90 people calling him stuff. Felt so bad for him
I think it should be seen as a sign of success and breaking into the mainstream of v-tubers and the hobby instead of a "doomsday sign". I don't think it would effect the Japanese beauty standard as it is a rare event and it's not like "real people competing with v-tubers for every spot", and I don't think that Japan (or anywhere else in the world) would start to compare real woman to 2d-girls. The high beauty standard in Japan is a problem, but I don't think that this happened because of this problem or it highlighted that problem in any way, those are 2 unrelated things.
Such a weird take. It's not like a ton of Influencers and Celebrities also use/play Personas. With Nene it's just more obvious. And in the past Lara Croft was in Playboy multiple times, even with a fake Interview if I remember correctly, plus the Witcher 3 Girls.
So Joey cannot understand how a 2D waifu makes into the weekley playboy...Does he know that Marge from The Simpsons already makes an appearance into the main magazine back in 2009? And we're not talking about a small picture of her face like Nenes, but the actual freaking cover of the magazine and like 4 pages of content xD
And the difference with those two is that Nene is a real person that can interact with her viewers through streaming and also a influencer, while Marge is a character that is voice by a professional VA reading a script that doesn't usually interact with the fans that often, and also we are talking about japan here folks where weird stuff is considered normal for the people living in Japan. Note: that I still like joey it's just that he's taking this so seriously, this is just a PR Strat so that they could advertise different people from different companies
I know, I click this video expecting some ironic take or just a joke, and then he starts talking about all that shit. it's still funny but for a different reason, joey became the bottom of the joke.
I don’t expect comments section be like this lol. This video made some sense to me after watching this video and even after reading some top comments in the comment section.
i don’t get why this is supposed to be ironic, a terrifying reality, and post apocalyptic? She is an influencer is she not? And she being ranked in a list of influencers isn’t so strange. Also, the fact that we barely know anyone in the list except for Nene is a good mark of her reach isn’t it? Lastly, what is your baseline of reality and fiction? Nene is an actual person you can interact act with. She entertains people and on ocassion shares her hopes, dreams, and hardships with her fans. She isn’t just an anime character that you watch on the screen or a character that you see in manga. She is actually a living breathing person and part of that package is that avatar that she uses. There is a background story behind her character sure, but that is just flavor text, nobody stays and loves her just for that. It’s her personality, her interactions with her fanbase, the things she does to make them happy, and her willingness to share her emotions on stream all contribute to her being real. This is a new world, and boxing vtubers into fictional characters is just a bit ignorant isn’t? i mean you had one on your podcast did you not? Quite a famous one too. Is she not deserving of the praise and recognition she has gotten? I for one am glad that people who for circumstances unknown are unable to show themselves can now share their talents and personalities without that hindrance. Also, things like this don’t exist outside of Japan? Lara Croft (tomb raider), Rayne (bloodrayne), as well as others have appeared in these kinds of publications. Anime characters have existed for a long time, complaining about beauty standards in Japan shifting because of this is kind of a flimsy way to support your argument. Kind of disappointing to see this from the Anime Man.
@@ohlnwwlknat6621 I think it's because Joeys style of anime has kinda become the norm and he kinda loses his charm Anime culture nowadays is just anything from LN,Manga,Vtubers Games you name it
12 minutes of Joey being absolutely clueless, provide no context to the topic, and have probably 0 research on the topic he's covering. This video is not it. Honestly this is just a sign of how much vtubers have gotten kinda outta hand in all forms and this is what Joey is trying to say. It's not this event in particular. Think about, we have guys having romantic and sexual parasocial relations with imagined characters. Donated tonnes of money. Promoting their music and merch just because they like the girl. And industries are realising that, using you as a horny piggy bank who would sooner spend a portion of your salary to the company promoting a character than spend it on yourself or family. Dudes that even have kids. Think, if this is what it's like now, imagine 2 years into the future. Joey simply hinting at this has guys in the comments calling him a boomer or exaggerating. Yet they're all calling this vtuber their wife.... Let that sink in...
I think it's fine because the person behind Nene is real. It's not like she is some fictional character or android. She is played by a real human and the person who plays her should get some credit for their work. Also people who say hololive girls like Nene are just characters. and the person who voices them are completely different. This is no different from other content creators or streamers who play up their personality for the camera. Which streamer doesn't play a "character".
eh sure some streamers do make up a completely different character than their real self but a good majority of the hololive girls are genuine with just adding in parts of their character

Joey you're saying an anime character is going to raise the beauty standard XD? Look at all those girls on that page and tell me that's not already impossible to reach for the average girl. just wanted to mention that weekly playboy and the playboy we know here in the west are two entirely different publications that have absolutely nothing to do with each other
I don't understand why an influencer using an avatar can't be featured on a top 10 that is celebrating online personalities. Unless the entirety of the journal is about finding the most beautiful woman, beauty standards shouldn't be a part of this conversation to begin with?
He is confused what the article is actually about. He thinks they're talking about beauty standard while the article is only talking about being influencer

If it is a section for entertainers I do find her to be one of the most creative and outgoing of the JP talents, always willing to try weird new things kind of like how Ame is on the EN side.
There is one constant with Joey. Whenever he says "link is in the description" there is a 100% guarantee that the link is in fact, not in the description.
Joey is over there being mindblown by a vtuber model being featured in such a magazine, meanwhile here i am remembering how VERY long ago bloodrayne was featured in one of those magazines aswell :3 We ve come a long way people Anyways i feel old, gonna go look for a coffin
even if she's a virtual or fictional character, she's still a real streamer / influencer, so i think it's totally fine to put her on that list (which is not supposed to be taken seriously anyway). congratz Super Nenechi!
I saw it earlier, but didn’t read into it. I took it just as an influencer profile on an influencer list which is why it didn’t really surprise me since hololive has major influences on their audience. If it is more comparable to a list like People’s Sexiest women/men then that’s a different story, but if it’s more akin to times influential persons of the year, then I don’t see it as an “issue” per say.
One of the times I really don't agree with Joey's take here. This is obviously a PR stunt capitalizing on a recent trend in Japan to boost playboy's sales and reputation specially since magazines are a thing of the past now. This is more obvious since it's Nene who was chosen in all of the hololive talent, Nene, who, isn't even 'erotic' or 'sexy' in how she presents herself. Really weird how he took this as seriously as he did in the video.
Well just one thing to note: Monthly Playboy is the Japanese version of American Playboy, while Weekly Playboy (Which is the one that Nene is in) has no relation to American Playboy
She's not simply a character. All of the hololive girls put a lot of themselves into their avatars. I get that it's not who they really are, but compared to an actual anime character, they are pretty real.
Fair play to her though for getting on there and as it says in the article it's for influencers who are expected to make a splash in the near future so it's not about looks or whether she's real or not but the content she makes. She makes great content so why shouldn't she be included?
@@allenbocephus True but I still think the main focus is the coverage of women who are making strides in their respective industry and who are also beautiful. Whereas Joey's focus seems to be lmao simps think an anime girl is hot enough to be in playboy, people are losing their minds as she isn't real and that they can't distinguish reality so the future is doomed. If an anime girl was put in there with the same argument but just over their looks then I'd agree with him somewhat whereas the person behind Nene is real and rising in popularity hence my confusion.
@@SwatterKFP i get it. Its not like I don't like nene or anything. But when I first saw the title, I would have thought Sana or kiara well before I would have thought of nene as "beautiful", strictly from a character model perspective.
@@allenbocephus Yeah that's fair and she wouldn't be my first choice either. I guess in a similar sense that Pekoras model appeared in an anime, how not to summon a demon lord, as a background character the creator behind this article may have also been a fan of Nene and wanted more people to know of her or at least be an introduction to vtubers as she is very charismatic.
I think Joey protests too much. Lara Croft, Marge Simpson and Hatsune Miko have done PlayBoy photo shoots. And friggin Lois Griffin has appeared in the top 50 beautiful women.
I'm just proud of nene making it into this list, like, when you watch her streams and clips you'll realize that she's just purely having fun playing games, saying poopoo peepee jokes, and clearly loves gintama. I think that the playboy magazine spot she got was just a test by someone to see how people would react if they saw that a 2D girl makes it into the list. Still, I love nene, I love her poopoo peepee jokes and puns which heavily influenced by gintama.
Famine? War? Pandemic? Nope, Nene in playboy is the real fall of civilization. Been watching Joey for years and never thought I’d see the day when he started sounding like a clueless and conservative old man.
I think the important thing to remember is that behind this "fictional" character there is a real person. It is respectable that some people do not agree with this situation, but they must also have respect in how they express that. Almost all the movies that talk about the future have always explored the possibility of robots or holograms being a couple with humans and taking one human out of the equation, it will eventually pass but we are still very far from something like that... I think the question as debate and reflection is valid but you also exaggerate a bit some of the comments in the video. Not because they were rude, but I think you phrased the situation as if it were something more "serious" than it actually is. It is valid to feel doubt or concern about what this means in our society, as you say it is a huge achievement for Hololive and Nene, but it is something that will be forgotten in a few days and it will only be a curious fact. Like I said, I think there are many years to go for this to have a real and profound weight / effect in our world. And in every topic or fandom, there will be weird people who take everything to the extreme. That cannot be avoided unfortunately. But being part of Nene's constant fan community, I can assure that most of the fans are there to support the person behind the show. The model / design is something that only attracts you visually at the beginning as well as a UA-cam thumbnail. (And just in case someone got confused while investigating. She calls her fans husbands and her fans call her wife. Not because the community really thinks this is true, everything has context and sense but in summary: It's just for fun and all the "normal" fans know that.)
I don't know joey, you seem so out of touch with the topic you covering recently. Anime and now this. It used to be "a professional channel that knows a lot about anime" now it's just "Japanese boomer talk about things". Don't get me wrong, it's still fun, but for a different reason. I guess you kinda became the bottom of the joke.
Yeah he was clearly out of touch. Seemed like he relied mostly on the article that he read which had super vague writing and lacking information in my opinion.
I feel it's just kinda the same thing as seeing a UA-camr you like go on TV, It feels like a really cool milestone of legitimacy but ultimately it means nothing.
It's basically cross promotion for the magazine and hololive. Dunno what the issue is. Like some other commentators have said, animated characters have made it to these kind of lists for years now.
I think the thing that makes it not as strange for me to see Nene (or if it were any other vtuber in a magazine like this) is that they aren't just animated characters, they are actresses and aren't scripted like a character from an anime. It'd be far more strange to see an image of a character from an anime in a magazine like this than it is to see a vtuber there. It's not really fair to equate a vtuber to just being an anime character, because the anime character doesn't have a genuine personality, it's a script and is entirely acted. There's of course acting involved in a lot of vtubing, especially hololive vtubing, but there's a lot more to it than that as well. The anime character will always be a fiction, whereas vtubers are, well, people. It's funny, for sure, but I don't think it's very strange, it's just different. As others mentioned though, this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Hatsune Miku appeared in the weekly Japanese Playboy all the way back in 2011 for example. Now that is much more abnormal than a vtuber, seeing as Miku isn't even at least a real person playing a character.
I mean if Nene made it into the "influencer section" then I'm sure it had more to do with her youtube personality than the avatar itself. Doesn't seem like stretch in my eyes, pretty hilarious though.
It's not just the fact that someone working at playboy magazine added it or smth, it's the fact the higher ups like the editorial in chief gave permission for this lmao.. LETS GO NENE
I love watching Joey but this is probably the worst take I’ve seen Joey have, even with Trash Taste combined. Seems like he didn’t research enough, saw only negative takes on this topic, has his own bias of vtubers or something and just started overreacting. It’s literally nothing to get so serious about.
they were just trying to find a new audience and it worked thanks to you I guess. Now more people know that Japan has their own version of Playboy magazine
I think it may actually have the reverse effect. 2D women being included in stuff like this just makes it more obvious that it's just a fantasy. That any of these women are even attainable in the first place is nearly impossible and that if you want a real relationship you have to look elsewhere.
Momosuzu Nene has a strange charisma even in comparison to her other Vtuber mates. She reminds me of Ai from Oshi no Ko. Also, ya keep going on that people shouldn't take stuff like Kobayashi's Dragon Maid seriously, but all of a sudden, adding an influential UA-camr on a Playboy magazine in the Influencer category is something akin to the erosion of the standards of beauty within the Japanese youths? C'mon man, shit take much?

Also this whole rant about anime women and unrealistic beauty standards feels like something from one of those virtue signalling-clickbaity "feminist" sites and he kind of contradicts himself, either nobody cares about magazines that come out on paper anymore or it's a "problem" that negatively affects the society and Japanese birth rates...

Just looked it up and can confirm Marge was on a cover of Playboy 12 years ago. According to an article it was attempt to get younger readers to buy the dying magazine.

Holy shit I remember the Marge Simpson thing, it made it to the news
11 minutes of Joey overthinking the impact on society and philosophy from some dumb attempt by some Japanese company to stir up drama and drive traffic to their largely irrelevant magazine only boomers read.
This comment sums up my thoughts. Joey really overthought this one when it’s just nothing to get serious about.
I thought Playboy gave up on their mags and turned into online only. Which makes sense they cover top women in online.
I thought playboy was still popular lol. I still see it in every convenience store.
@@tr3ed lol very true
Momosuzu Nene's positive energy makes you feel refreshed watching her streams or clips. Definitely nice to see her featured in the Playboy magazine.
Also Marge Simpson was on the cover of the playboy once
Aki Ross (Final Fantasy: Spirits Within) also got to the top 100 Sexiest women in Maxim bout 10 years ago. And she is a certified waifu.
And Louis is a full character while vtubers are just a character in how they look (avatar, name) and as a streamer/conted creator have their irregular characteristcs.
@@t_cb8012 ah yes, a full character in a show where the setting resets basically every episode and where babies never get older

Back when Witcher 2 came out Polish Playboy featured Triss Merigold
Huh, didn’t think Joey would be so against this. I mainly just see this as a funny thing.
Different strokes I suppose 🤷🏻♂️

I mean Hatsune Miku appeared in a playboy photo shoot so it isn't that unusual...
Hatsune Miku is nutty though, she's fucking everywhere
And in the west it also happened with Marge SIMPson
Ikr, we are talking about japan here folks where weird stuff can be seen as normal to them so this is just another Tuesday for them
I feel that this probably requires a more nuanced take.
@@MorpheusCh I mean I would also be understandably confused if they included what is essentially just hentai panels in the playboy magazine

Lara Croft (tomb raider), Rayne (bloodrayne), as well as others have appeared in these kinds of publications.

yeah or it's just a publicity stunt from the magazine, which is working wonderfully because every news talks about them. if joey talks about beauty standards, almost all women that mentioned on that list have a face that's already near impossible to have for the average girl.
NO! WORLD END! ANIME BAD! HAVE KID!
(This is a joke)
yeah I don't know why Joey is exaggerating this so much it's probably just a big joke lol
It's not a big deal. Joey is overblowing this. 40-50 being for UA-camrs/Instragram (Nene being no.50) and 51-60 for Seiyuus.
@@discipleofshuba867 Yes, just like any streamer. People seem to be under the false impression that other streamers are "real" because they use a face cam. But nothing is natural about speaking to a camera in front of your computer to a crowd of thousands of people, every streamer has a stage persona of some sort.
@@discipleofshuba867 man you're too naïve, me at home and me at work are completely different person and you expect them to be genuine? Idk what genuine mean anymore
@@PolarBear_ed no half of you just dont go outside enough. yes some of them take on a complete character, im sure luna doesnt act like a baby in real life (although menheras are called menheras for a reason) but a good amount of the girls simply insert character traits where they see fit. Its not hard to tell especially after debut when someone is being themselves vs their character. especially for some of the girls who are completely different from the character
@@NihongoWakannai but you can't claim that they're putting an act in all of their streams all the time. Sure, they exaggerated some of their personality traits for entertainment, but thinking it's all act is not true entirely. That's just impossible, you can't just keep appearances for hours. That would be mentally exhausting. I mean, for example, you really think Korone can actually put up an act on her endurance streams for literal hours, which ranges from +6 to +20 hours at max?
Joey you're saying an anime character is going to raise the beauty standard XD? Look at all those girls on that page and tell me that's not already impossible to reach for the average girl. Being an anime girl is a lot easier than being a 10/10 perfect girl. Tomari Mari is a very cute/beautiful anime girl and that's a 2 meter dude.
I mean, yeah. As if the standards of beauty are not already fucked.
Exactly
Not only raising the body standard but making it WAY EASIER
@@yellowcard8100 then u can't say anything about it????
@@yellowcard8100 that's ignorant af, beauty standerds are a real thing which ppl get harrased and bullied over, constantly creating unecesscary insecurites, eating disorders etc. If u really thing beauty standerds aren't a real thing then ur delusional my dude
Joey, just so you know, the husband thingy is just a joke amongst Nene's fan, including myself. If you really watch Nene, you would never thing of her as sexual stuff, more like an adorable "seal" that fans agreed upon. She belong on the "need to protect" category, not for the lewd one. She is a freaking good performer and singer, so she is very talented as well.
Anyway, we as her fans or her "husbands" really am happy to see her reaching the outside world, proving that her dream to become super idol is not a joke. She is really an inspirational figure at least from a standpoint of someone who are serious in pursuing their dream.
just wanted to mention that weekly playboy and the playboy we know here in the west are two entirely different publications that have absolutely nothing to do with each other
Okay, with end of "can't happen outside of Japan" I have to point out that Marge Simpson was in the actual playboy as the covergirl OVER A DECADE AGO
I don't understand why an influencer using an avatar can't be featured on a top 10 that is celebrating online personalities.
Unless the entirety of the journal is about finding the most beautiful woman, beauty standards shouldn't be a part of this conversation to begin with?
yep
I have no idea why they think it is weird or something. Like literally it's just an influencer lmao.
He is confused what the article is actually about. He thinks they're talking about beauty standard while the article is only talking about being influencer
Playboy: Here is a list of awesome female influencers.
Joey: why does this list of fap material including a 2D character?
Also the best part is that it is not even a ranked list
It's just funny that put of all possible VTubers they picked the goofiest of them all
Well she is my favorite for that reason exactly, so I'm not complaining
If it is a section for entertainers I do find her to be one of the most creative and outgoing of the JP talents, always willing to try weird new things kind of like how Ame is on the EN side.
There is one constant with Joey. Whenever he says "link is in the description" there is a 100% guarantee that the link is in fact, not in the description.
Joey is over there being mindblown by a vtuber model being featured in such a magazine, meanwhile here i am remembering how VERY long ago bloodrayne was featured in one of those magazines aswell :3
We ve come a long way people
Anyways i feel old, gonna go look for a coffin
“Who buys magazines now days”
Aye if a magazine had hololive in it in America I’d buy that magazine
even if she's a virtual or fictional character, she's still a real streamer / influencer, so i think it's totally fine to put her on that list (which is not supposed to be taken seriously anyway). congratz Super Nenechi!
Based nene for making joey seethe. Now I like her even more
You mentioned that you don’t follow playboy magazine so I guess you don’t know but the US playboy has already featured Marge Simpson in the past
"and the vtuber made it onto fucking playboy magazine, funniest shit I've ever seen"
Joey: They are idols.
Me after watching a few streams: Are you sure about that?
yagoo: entertainment company
"They are idols" Yagoo repeatedly tells himself as he rocks back and forth curled up in a ball...
I agree that is very reasonable. I think joey didn't think from that perspective but we all know Joey gave a high rating to School days..... So yeah
I mean Joey has been wrong before. This take of him is also one of em.
This is exactly what I was thinking, no idea why Joey sounded so off about it.
Well just one thing to note:
Monthly Playboy is the Japanese version of American Playboy, while Weekly Playboy (Which is the one that Nene is in) has no relation to American Playboy
You're taking this way too seriously
She's not simply a character. All of the hololive girls put a lot of themselves into their avatars. I get that it's not who they really are, but compared to an actual anime character, they are pretty real.
Fair play to her though for getting on there and as it says in the article it's for influencers who are expected to make a splash in the near future so it's not about looks or whether she's real or not but the content she makes. She makes great content so why shouldn't she be included?
Agreed. Joey just didn't look into the context. Claims he doesn't read this stuff but then talks as if he knows what it's about.
In all fairness the list is "next gen beautiful women"....
As part of Nenes Husband Collection I have never been so proud before ❤ our seal is making it big
I think Joey protests too much. Lara Croft, Marge Simpson and Hatsune Miko have done PlayBoy photo shoots. And friggin Lois Griffin has appeared in the top 50 beautiful women.
He should change his name from AnimeMan to JapaneseBoomer
But to be fair, Nene is extremely funny, she might really rival Miko in terms of comedy she brings to her show.
Joey: how could this be happening? This is fucked up
Also Joey: Which Anime Boy Would I Sleep With?
Ultimate Joey: owns a body pillow and several figures of Shinobu from Monogatari
This must be the work of an ENENMI stand.
really surprised theanimeman would have such a boomer take on this
I don't know joey, you seem so out of touch with the topic you covering recently. Anime and now this. It used to be "a professional channel that knows a lot about anime" now it's just "Japanese boomer talk about things". Don't get me wrong, it's still fun, but for a different reason. I guess you kinda became the bottom of the joke.
We share the same thought.
This channel was never professional to begin with
I was confused by your take at first, but the "they see her as a wife, not a waifu" line cleared it up. You're not in on the joke.
Is Joey deadass here? I can't tell if this is a parody of Twitter users calling everything "problematic."
????
Wait, the girl that jokes about selling her colleagues armpit water sets a high standard of perfection?
Joey, Marge Simpson, the Simpsons character, had "posed" for Playboy before, 12 years ago, in America. She was the cover.
I see Joey is in his Karen mode.
This just shows we are living in the best timeline.
Show respect. That is my wife! Fyi American playboy features a gay man
Me sees title: "Dear God..."
Joey: "There's more"
Me: "No"
"YES"
Nice reference
The ironic thing is Nene in real life is super cute and could easily make top 20 in this magazine.
I think it is an exaggeration to say that it is the beginning of the post apocalypse, I remember that once Marge Simpson was on the cover of Playboy
If you've got a list of influential youtubers I see no reason to exclude someone because they happen to use a virtual avatar.
I'd say that being a vtuber is more of an attainable standard of beauty than every real girl in that page. All you need is an avatar lol
Joey: “the link to the Mori interview will be in the description”
**does not put it into the description**
I just find it funny that’s all lol
C'mon man, shit take much?
she was a past idol while the others were mostly online personalities in their past lives
