It could be even worse they had Stafford and Johnson all those years. And never got their defense sorted out. Not many organizations get a pairing like that. Ever.
Oh boy as a Browns fan during 2016-17, all I can say is that I'm almost impressed with how bad we were. Makes me appreciate every single bit of success we have now.
I think that you got Bart Starr confused with Bert Jones. Bert Jones was the quarterback for the Colts in 1981 and they never even faced the Packers that year. The only franchise that Bart Starr was ever involved with was the Green Bay Packers. Granted, he was still in the league in 81, but as the head coach of the Packers. He retired as a player in 71.
If it means anything Bert Jones was a real good qb. Those Colts in that era won the AFC East 3 straight years then the Colts & Rams switched owners. All over from there
2020-21 JETS might go 0-16. they’re already 0-9, and looking at their remaining schedule, it doesn’t look too good. Edit: the fact that their 🗑 team beat the rams is hilarious because it now shows they can’t even tank properly.
I've learned the 08 lions really just needed better coaching. Players were constantly saying that their game plan would not work and the qbs said they won't win a single game.
Jets were gonna go pretty much 0-16, but the Rams had to go to their inconsistant ways. When they’re good, they’re contenders When they are bad, they lose to the Jets
If Starr had been QB of the ‘81 Colts he would have been 47 years old. Brady might do that now, but no player was playing that long in that era. Plus he would have been retired for ten years then come back. Pretty bad mistake there.
The 1976 Tampa Bay Bucs were dreadful. Every game they played in was a blowout : Tampa Bay offered one of the worst defense I've ever seen... Lions are about to make a repeat. Mathew Stafford is more then likely laughing his ass off at them. O-6 let's keep that losing streak going. Sorry Detroit fans. Obviously Stafford wasn't the issue. The Lions as a whole are just awful and put blame on one player. Takes a team to win.
Who said Stafford was the issue? At least we traded our star player instead of forcing him into retirement this time. The Lions moved on from him because it’s obvious that the long-time rebuild under Martha Ford and Matt Patricia was failing, and didn’t want to waste Stafford’s entire career there. Now we’re in a new rebuild under Sheila Ford Hamp and Dan Campbell, and despite being winless right now, keep in mind that the Lions aren’t trying to win. We know they don’t have the star power or experience to get anywhere this season, but we’re playing much better than we ever did under Patricia. So no, we didn’t blame Stafford for 2-3 winning seasons out of 12. Don’t go talking shit about a struggling franchise unless you know the whole story.
@@sarahmorales9388 I know. Just another reason it's obviously not Bart Starr. Bart Starr only ever played for the Green Bay Packers, having his number 15 retired with them as well.
I really thought the Saints, or 'aints as they were known at the time, would have made this list. I believe it was 1979 or 80, and I think they were 1-15. They were the first team I remember seeing the fans with the paper bags.
The Lions' winless season was merely part of an ungodly 5-47 stretch that began in November 2007 and ended in December 2010. Even so, there's no way that team was worse than the '76 Bucs. While the '08 Lions had a brutal schedule, that Bucs squad had several opportunities to pick up a W against equally putrid competition and failed every time.
The 2017 Browns were like the 1962 Mets-snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The '62 Mets were so bad, Hall Of Fame manager Casey Stengel once lamented, "Can't anyone here play this game?"

"It was perhaps the worst play of this century." Mark Sanchez enthusiastically agrees. 😁 They're never mentioned on these lists, but the 2006 Oakland Raiders deserve at least a (dis)honorable mention. They won two games, yes, but still managed to rank dead last in the league in points scored, offensive yardage, and turnovers allowed. They averaged *10.5* points per game over the season, which is ludicrous in the modern era, tallying only 12 offensive touchdowns in 16 games. Their highest scoring contest of the season was their first win, when the Raiders exploded for 22 points against the Arizona Cardinals (who would end up 5-11). Oakland's only other win was a 20-13 upset over the Pittsburgh Steelers, in which both of their TDs came courtesy of the defense. Quarterbacks Aaron Brooks (joining the team after being replaced by Drew Brees in New Orleans) and Andrew Walter (a 3rd round pick in the '06 draft) started 8 games apiece, during which they combined for 6 touchdown passes against 21 INTs, and ate an ungodly *72* sacks (resulting in *18* fumbles)! Career benchwarmer Justin Fargas led the team in yards from scrimmage with just 750, while a wildly unenthusiastic Randy Moss paced all Raiders with 3 touchdowns.
