Markus you’re killing me… I’ve bought all the lights you recommended and my home floor is starting to look like yours! LOL!! … love the reviews and the quest for the smallest and lightest gear! 👍
Thank you for sharing this, I have been looking at continuous lighting that is portable (I have almost bought the well-making several times) but I especially appreciate you including light measurements, so many of other reviews don’t compare well/easily in a consistent and verifiable manner. You including the light readings and discussing the light in terms of stops has been a huge help.
The first video online that compares the GVM to the Inkee and it looks like the Inkee is really a good one. The only interesting thing about that GVM is the spot modifier. They have a very compact zoomable spot for 100$. I find that very convenient and interesting to have for a light like those. Now I will start thinking again about the GC30.
The engineering of the Inkee's is amazing. So you give a light meter reading and it is appreciated that you give a distance for your measurement but what ISO is your meter set to. That is why in the real world FC or ISO readings are more common across the trades. Check out the Sekonic C-800-U SPECTROMETER to give us some more "in-depth' color balance information such as its direction toward the blue, toward the yellow, or in many cases some other colors. The Sekonic display will add additional content quality for illustration and discussion as well as the graphical element to your video. After all, it's more than just being a talking head as well as you do produce them. I still want a tour of Cara's closet as her outfits are great and seemingly endless...
As in all my videos, 1/60 sec ISO100. But it's all relative. The point is the brightness difference. Even if the ISO was different, the brightness difference would still be the same.
@@MarkusPix Thank you I must have missed the ISO mention and you don't list it on your graphic insert just the F stop. I have come to appreciate your videos as I watch further. I particularly appreciate that you do not record your audio SOF but obviously record it Robert Altman style and it is clear and crisp as opposed to many other UA-camrs that I find myself turning on the CC for English to understand... ha, ha, ha... Still want to see Cara's closet and glad you do actually read your comments! Brava...
Nice video. I picked up the GC 60 here in Japan about a month ago, and am very happy with it. I was actually working on my own review, but sadly something went wrong internally. They have been very helpful and professional in communication though, and minus shipping cost to them it seems the repair is free. Granted being in Japan I am a little lucky in the shipping cost regard. The build quality is very good as you mentioned, though I found a couple minor engineering points I will address in my review when the repair is complete.
Always great and unique content. You give us knowledge a 30 year movie lighting professional would envy. I do love your cartoons on the beginning and end. Your camera operator, who I assume is Cara, is getting to be an expert in her own right.

I'm really enjoying your videos on Lights and batteries. Very helpful before buying. I love all the flashlight style lights because I used to use actual zoomable flashlights but only had 1 reliable flashlight with correct color because others would be wonky color or strobe when on camera. I like the Came-TV fresnels but am considering Inkee now. Thanks for the video!
Love the Inkee! I had bought several lights and choose Colbor's RGB as it was what I needed at that time. Going to get the Inkee again, hopefully soon. It's the best concept overall. Once they have an RGB version there really won't be much to compete. Nothing I can think of comes close for it's ease of use and varied applications.
RGB would have been awesome to have as well I own the 30 and 60 watt version. I don't think it was mentioned that you can use these in the rain.. maybe I missed that.
Hi Markus, great review, would you also do another one about the GVM-SD80? Maybe compare with colbor cl60and amaran 60d.

Hey Marcus. I have bought the GC30 based on your review and I love it. The autonomy and power you can get from such a convenient form factor is insane! I do have a question: the market is currently flooded by compact lights (GC30, Zhiyun G60, X60, CX100, Colbor W100, Sirui C150X...) and they usually comes with a mini reflector. These "mini" reflectors have the same 3.5 inches diameters at the largest point wich is exactly half of the standard 7 inches reflector. It kind of make sense and seems like 3.5 inches would be the the standard diameter for mini reflector. Nevertheless, for some reason, I can't find one single soft diffuseur (your know, that small piece of white fabric with an elastic band around) of 3.5 inches to fit any of these reflector. We can find thousand of 7 inches diffusers on the market but not a single 35 inches version. Do you know why?
@@MarkusPix Due to the luggage limits I usually only carry the most essential equipment, I'm sorry not to be of help in this case, as I have no experience of attempting to carry any LED lighting. I guess if there are restrictions it may be due to the size of the battery. I don't know the actual capacity.
Markus, I love the inkee lights, bought to 2 of each 30 and 60 just bought the fresnel lens for it (inkee) but i can not get it to lock in like the reflector it comes with. Fits in the slot but you cannot flick the little locking device in. Is their something I am missing you locked yours right in on the video.
@markuspix Thank you so much for doing this video. While I want to buy the Inkee G60 so much people most know that you can't bring the light on any flight due to having a built in battery of more than 100w/h. The GVM and Inkee G30 lights do not have that problem.
it would seem however if youd had a bagged kit of 3 lights you also might not be able to bring those. The burden should be on inkee to get a container that might allow the damn regs to be met as a real option if you are that guy who actually needs them on a plane. News crews are always flying or driving with batteries how do they do it?
GC30 does look like a nice compromise of size weight and brightness. btw, where did you get those barn doors? I'm looking for a low cost solution for my church.

Hi maybe is a dumb question but pls help me out somebody ....Can I use this as the photo light I'm pointing at Inkee 30 ....thanks in advance have a good day all the time
I have Retlight 3000K torch since 2014. It is a nice little helper if you know how properly use it. Even 2w led light of your Godox speedlight could be a main light source after sunsets or for close-ups. The main reason I would need some extra power from the led lights - softboxes & unbrellas , where all of this readings, from the center of the hotspot, will have nothing to do with reality.
That RFT-19 reflector only makes a hotspot in the middle. With a steep falloff it's not magic at all. It's hard to say what modifier it replaces, maybe it's a good light to put a diffusion cap on since it's quite sizeable in comparison to the stock reflector on Inkee. The pattern of the little reflector looks more workable. And that 150% brightess is just their take on 11/10 joke, haha. I think I'm going to look for some practical tests on this. The thing with built in batteries is that once a battery goes bad, you're in trouble, so it better have good cells in it. Also I hope that charging is fast enough to keep it going and not just 2-3hrs and you need to take a break.
I never need anything beyond the hotspot because all I ever need these lights for is for vlogging (lighting up my upper body) I never try to light up a whole room with something small like this. I need small travel lights for vlogging. As for batteries, my Stellas have built in batteries and they've worked flawlessly for over a decade.
Calling a 30w and 100w led the same brightness seems a bit wild... Where did the light go? I assume youre only comparing hot spots at totally different beam angles?
Yes the hot spots with the standard reflector that comes with the light- in other words- the way most people would actually use the light. Reflector design has a lot to do with it- you can see the same thing happening in this video with flashes and how much difference just changing the reflector makes ua-cam.com/video/o8bdbLW2gAs/v-deo.html I guess a great example is where a little tiny motorcyle can beat a muscle car with a lot more horsepower. Its all about efficiency
@@MarkusPix as someone who almost never uses the reflectors I'd have to disagree. People who put these in soft boxes or into diffusers/bounce will likely be very disappointed to find the 30w light is 1/3 as bright as the 100w light after you said it was just as bright...

Never had that problem. It will not charge unless you have a strong enough charger (65-100w) **AND** a 100w USB-C cable. You can't just use any USB-C cable, it needs to have the high wattage rating. To get the 150, you have to turn it extra fast to the right after its at 100 and I think it needs to be fully charged.

Inkee is great but you cannot take it on a plane..it has "airplane mode" but TSA stopped me and I had to take it home...VERY good light if you dont travel. They gave me paperwork to show TSA but it didnt work. I went to a TSA supervisor and he stated it cant go on a plane at all..you can also Charge it while you are using it..I used it at an event that didnt have light at all and it worked GREAT. Suggest to Inkee that they put a physical lock on the wheel because it can accidentally come on if in a bag..also Suggested a LED protector like most LED lights have because if you pack it in a bag you have to have the reflector on to protect the LED and it makes it longer and harder to pack

Why did they not allow it? I've never had a problem
