I dont plug my patreon in the videos because i want to keep the content pure and timeless. However currently i am accepting for support in the early months as i recently quit my day job to push this series as far as it can go. if you visit the patreon page, there is a video that explains my whole story. / boundarybreak

I love the animated intros to these videos; clearly takes a lot of effort for such a small % of the video.
Oh Hey Theft, Didn't know you were into mario stuff. Loved the gem's interview series reaction btw. Cheers from Brazil
It has been a pleasure watching your channel grow. Great things lay just ahead, and I'm happy to see how far you've come!
Thanks Swankybox :,)
WHY DOES THIS ONLY HAVE 5 LIKES?!
@@kappnk9821 13 but still.
Hi SwankyBox!
I love your videos
Also if someone tweets this reply and adds like text saying ‘SWANKYBOX COMMENT ON SHESEZ’ or something like saying text of how SwankyBox’s comment barely has likes, I might laugh. If someone does tweet this reply, can I have a link?
I usually roll my eyes when youtubers give out thank you's, but yours were especially well thought out and meaningful. Not only were they earnest and heartfelt, but you also did a great job of briefly explaining to the average viewer why these people are so deserving of your thanks. This series has improved greatly from its humble beginnings. Good luck to you!
I can't believe it's been 6 years since I watched this. This game and your videos on it are equally timeless
HELL YES! One of my favorite SNES games of all time! Thanks!
N64
Dankey Kang Yee
Collin Adams it was my first SNES game, I love it
No problemo Collin!
Bruno Cajado I'd replay it again any day, it's a classic for sure
THIS IS MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME AND YOU DID AN EPISODE ABOUT IT YAAASSS. Thank you sir.
You're welcome man
Shesez PLEASE do Dead Space PLEASE there are so many things that we could look at and how everything happens and where the characters come from
Please Bomberman Hero
my fav too, forever, I dont think there will be a better game than this one
lajeandom there is one, its called chrono trigger
Still my favorite series on UA-cam! I've always wondered why no one really made a show about this concept before.
That hidden NPC in the Mushroom Kingdom is still there in the remake, but what's noteworthy about them is the cutscene that shows Peach parachuting towards Mario shows her at an angle where you could see the NPC, but he's still invisible there too!
Guess what game was revealed during the Nintendo Direct today?
Head bangers
This was so cool to watch, and as a result of this, I watched like, more Boundary Break episodes than I have of almost any other UA-cam channel. Shesez, you broke my boundaries!
I would love to see whatever you have coming next, but my wierd random suggestion would be, I would love to see Dokapon Kingdom (Wii, PS2) covered one day, as there's just so little documented about that game~
Hey glad you enjoy the show Emilia. I could and probably would cover Dokapon Kingdom in a livestream some day. You stick by me, I'll get it out to ya
Shesez 💗💗💗
My favorite game! I never knew about those sea urchins at 1:54 in the video, and I've never seen anywhere else mention them, even sites that mention the unused sprites. It's amazing that 21 years later, we're still finding out new things about this video game. By the way, your beard game is on point!
Sempai noticed me!
Taric Alani 6:11 Just don't smile, and it won't crack. Lol, no one who sees this is going to get that reference.
Odds are, those urchins were supposed to be included in the boss fight instead of the Chef. That cake is a bitch to fight at that point in the game, and I guess the Devs thought it would be too tough, so they just scrapped the idea.
Constant scrolling background layers are usually exposed when an object uses transparency to show it, as in the case of the 'lava' flows in A Link To the Past on dark world's Death Mountain. Whenever the player's character moves, the scrolling either appears to speed up or slow down depending on which direction the character is moving, to give the illusion of something flowing faster/slower whenever you're moving.
You are genuinely one of the most modest, kind, and loving youtubers ive ever subscribed to. No joke, you are a cool dude.
I know a fair lot of information due to my experience with the Lazy Shell editor. Like how most of the time, placeholder NPCs are stored for cutscenes at the 0, 0, 0, coordinate of the loaded map.
Boundary break wii fit my dude
Your boi Is here haha I know what you want to see in exacly one angle
Why XD
im so glad i found you when you were first starting these out. its nice seeing you grow
8:10 Gets me every single time
The character disapp-uh?
lithium 1817 lol
Uh? *DU DUM*
lithium 1817 dat part scared me for a sec and then i laughed
the character disap-EUH?!
Exor's eyes and mouth are battle sprites, but Exor himself is part of the background. I learned this by using an awesome ROM hacking tool named Lazy Shell, where you can essentially put the eyes and mouth in any battle.
That was WAY more interesting than I thought it would be.
Yeah, boundry breaking 2D games is way more interesting than it should be.
Draygone RPGMmag yup
Draygone RPGMmag and i was sceptical at first if boundry breaking and off camera secrets would even make a lot of sense in 2D games.
Draygone RPGMmag Same
Yeah we kinda got lucky. It's entirely up to the game developer how many neat off-camera artifacts, placeholders, etc. actually end up in the final release. Sometimes games that seem really promising don't have any interesting content because the designers were too meticulous about covering their trail.
This turned out to be more educational than I thought. Now I kinda want these breaks for a lot more games like terragnima, illusion of gaia, seiken densetsu 3 and much more.
8:10 Instructions unclear, got head stuck in wrong sprite.
I honestly laughed at that scene
I found your channel by a stroke of luck and now is one f my favourites, you can find some videos about cam hacks and the sort scattered on UA-cam but I don't think someone (at least someone famous) focuses on the idea completely and even less with your quality, I wish you the best of lucks and hope to see a Silent Hill episode someday :)
I adore this game so much, and that intro couldn't be more perfect.
SMRPG is an all time favorite of mine. I used to rent it on the weekends until one day I owned my very own copy and could finally save my progress. It was really exciting to get off your ass and go to the local store and browse the rental section. If technology goes any further, it will be just like Wall-E. I'm replaying SMRPG now, and it is just as fantastic as it ever was. It aged remarkably well. I miss you, '90s.
It's back!
But I don't wanna Marrymore I want to marry Mario!
Hey! Who are you!!! I keep seeing you !
She's a vegetarian, Marrymore Marrymore (;
There are many secrets in this game
My name is Crocko
cringe.
Thank you! for dedicating your time to doing that amazing stuff for us =D
I don't know if you have ever played this game, but AC4 Black Flag has so many areas you can't reach that I would like to know about, despite it being a large open world game. Like what's under the sea? Or what's past those green mountains in Kingston, or what's past the fields beyond Havana's walls.
scotttheo I would really like to see a zoom out of the Habana. or the Mexican coast where the Assassins live
This is a very nice yet unexpected happening. And walking to reload the map is something I've never heard before.
Very good episode, love the animation in the beginning and just the entire episode overall, this show has definitely evolved overtime and you're doing great man! Keep it up, I can see you being one of those big channels like game theory in the future!
That Intro Was Frickin Awesome Good Job Dan!
I know I've already used this joke on Twitter, but this video is *GENO* -inly well done. ;D
Thank you also to those that helped Shesez with the making of Boundary Break. :3
I've always noticed that Bowser's keep is visible in the background of Booster Hill, it's clearly visible when playing in the SNES. Also I never knew about the hidden frog coin in the exit to Monstro Town
08:08 Best part of the video. Nice job, man! XD
Super Mario RPG, one of the best Mario games and has hands down the best music of any in the series. I would love it if Yoko Shimomura got to do the music for another Mario game.
Dude, it is a delight watching you. Your passion really shows, and it makes for a great time. Keep up the good work, and see ya over on Twitter. ;P
Pretty sure the stylized star was supposed to represent a repaired star after it was broken up and put back together. The title screen changes from no sword to sword after you pass that part of the game on any file, so I suspect that it was also supposed to change in some way to show the repaired star. I recall having to short my SRAM on the original cartridge to ever see the game with no files again! That's because there is no functions for deleting a save file!
He can't be friendzoned, ladies. He breaks boundaries.
Maryjane Daniel this is correct
That's what Shesez.
Shesez can I ask how you get to the epilogue in Mario rpg, I've never seen it before and I would love to borrow it again to both play the game and see the epilogue!
This was the first video I've ever seen on this channel because you talked about my favorite game of all time. This was super interesting and unique to watch. Thank you for this. You earned another subscriber.
Episodes of Boundary Break for 2D games like this one where it's primarily about layer removal rather than boundary breaking should be called "Sprite Layer... Flayer" or somethin lame like that :P
but i still break boundaries in 2d games
Yeah, plus there's no good alliteration for it anyway. Never mind.
Truly beautiful. I have been awaiting for the moment you do an episode on this game and it was amazing.
Timesplitters would be a nice boundary break since it's 3d and has a lot of areas that are unaccessible to players. LOL (basically getting tired of 2D boundary break but not too tired cause people might get mad)
i want to sincerely thank you for this series, the inclusion of 16 bit RPGs are extra special to me and you doing Chrono Trigger made me SO happy. I never sub but i absolutely will for you
I wanna put in a vote for Final Fantasy VI/3
oh dont worry. we're getting it
Been watching off and on for awhile now a few years and I love your channel!!
Watching this again after hearing the release of the new SMRPG!
Hopefully you can pull off an out of boundaries on that too!
oh shit it's here. And more interesting than I thought a BB about this game would be!
Awesome episode man I love your channel! I always look forward to a new episode every week.
Good thing i finishd Mario RPG last week!
I really enjoyed watching this, This is really really interesting stuff. I enjoyed watching you do all the stuff on twitter for this episode.
Dan Flynn did a great job on the intro with the assets he had! Looks like something I would animate myself!
Speaking of which, I'll be looking forward to when i get around to animating an intro for you!
Love this channel. i used to hack games just to see theese things, brings me back.
Love exploring tje designers craftmanship. Thanks alot
Can you imagine how lit a Guitar Hero episode would be
Top notch video as usual. Love the channel!
"There's a beautiful Mario sprite that's skewed under Princess Peach's mound."
Uhh...
I always loved this game, played it back when I was 11, it was both fun and challenging and now this game has a special place in my heart
Now I just want a Boundary Break episode on Boundary Break as an excuse for a behind the scenes video.
This was the first RPG I ever played and it's still one of my very favorite SNES games. I had no idea there were so many hidden details! Though, that weird mishmash of Mario and the princess will probably give me nightmares...
Thanks for this! It's really interesting!
Crono trigger please?
Lavos isnt safe from me
Gonna need extra snacks when you tear into Chronotrigger!
I would like that. THAT GAME'S MY FAVORITE ONE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best Classic RPG. My favorite modern RPG is Xenoblade Chronicles
Bomberman Hero Boundary Break Please
I'D LOVE THIS SO MUCH, PLEASE DO IT
Really does make the Game seem like a Play, learning that the other characters in the scene are just waiting off screen.
Awesome work with the video, Shesez :D
And Daniel Flynn, that intro was really well animated. ^ヮ^
I only started playing Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, along with Earthbound, end of 2013 and they've both become among my favorite RPGs since. '^_^
The music is awesome and very catchy and, along with the music of Paper Mario 64, have helped to inspire my 1st UA-cam video's music. :)
I'm curious to know how exactly they layered the 3D Maze in the Sunken Ship in Super Mario RPG now. x)
Really looking forward to seeing more Boundary Break videos. :D
Oh yeah, and I came back to say - Dan Flynn's animation is on point, I really dig it!
Just a request, but do you think you can do any of the Final Fantasy games?
FF6 is coming at some point
Shesez That's awesome, also one of my favorite SNES games of all time, You da man! lol
I'm with this guy
any of the three 3D ones for PS1 would also be dope to see
LinearCarp1209 hell yeah, FF7, 8, 9, Tactics. I'll take any and all of them. My favorite game of all time might very well be FF Tactics. Either that or 7, with FF 9 and 10 being right up there with em! God I love Final Fantasy lol
i love the deconstructed maps thanks for letting us see this it is amazing keep up the amazing work!
You must do Yakuza 3 /4/0 because enviroments are amazing and the camera and zones are pretty limited for the player.
I lobe to see that
This video still holds up well to this day. Definitely a timeless Also see you recently got 1 million subs congrats 🎉
If you take suggestions I would love to see a Boundary Break on Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom
YES, so excited for this! Thanks for all the work you put into your content!
I'm away visiting family and have horrible internet; I'm still setting-and-forgetting this so I can watch in HD.
Unfortunate timing, man! It'll be worth the wait though!
YAY i was waiting for super mario rpg boundary break! Good video as always. Also... Zsnes?
i dont recommend it but for most of the video yes. But again, ui recommend going with something different if you play it that way
Shesez No, thats not what i ment :3
I ment are you using zsnes?
Shesez But zsnes is clearly the most accurate emulator. It definitely wasn't built with mostly speed in mind.
Gaming Dudester _"for most of the video yes"_
Speed Wagon :3 Oh
You know a video's gonna be good when you have GENO AND MALLOW as your intro.
Holy crap that intro!!!
my favorite game, i was hoping this would happen, thank you so much!
never say "Princess Peach's mound" again please, Shesez.
I enjoyed the ending more than the video. You seem really genuine.
thanks man
You realize you're gonna have to do breathe of the wild eventually?
Great episode as always and thank you for the shout out at the end for everyone. Your a great guy to work with!
Princess Peach's mound.
I remember as a kid thinking. Man if this is how games in 3d look, I can't wait to see what the comes next.
I never knew super mario RPG was 3D
It technically isn't - It's compiled with isometric sprites. It's all technically 2D, just initially rendered in 3D.
lazrpo 2.5 D?
kanardy nope It's actually just Pre rendered 3d textures just like how Donkey Kong Country worked. All of the things you see in Super Mario RPG is just pre rendered 3d and the whole game doesn't include any 3d in it.
Basically you render your 3D model as a 2D image, and scale it down to SNES sprite size.
or in easy ways you're making animations by taking pictures of 3d models like stop motion or something so it looks 3d but it's really 2d
The opening animation was great! The games just as good! Keep it up!
MAN or WOMAN?! WE DONT DISCRIMINATE?!
Great video as per usual keep up the amazing work
Pin this
I like to pin things that continue the entertainment or shine a spotlight on people who collabed
To be honest this is my favorite episode
Shesez no you gave him attention tgats what he was wanting at least hell learn
i really like what you did with this episode, i started to feel like the episodes had a strange structure and i feel like what you added here paces it better and makes it feel less like a sequence of interesting things and more like a sructured showcase of them, keep up to the good work i enjoy this quite a lot
These vids are so great. Call me a nerd but I love seein the innerworkings of the games that made up childhood, and you add a level of humor to the videos that is so refreshing on here, atleast imo. Real pleasant and real entertaining, keep up the good work man!
I recall owning an old walk through and it had zoomed out images of the whole map in it and I want to say in some cases they didn't crop out some of the random sprites like Peach and Mallow in the Mushroom Kingdom. Others where it's just a black void mostly I think they did remove that to save space on the page.
Great ep! Would love to see a Pokemon Diamond/Pearl Boundary Break. I saw that they actually kept all the expired Special events off screen...been curious of what else can be hiding there. Either way, keep up the good work, always a good time.
Man I love this series so much!!!!!!! Thank you for entertaining me every week :)!
Outstanding episode Shesez. This is your best one yet. Can't wait for more SNES boundary breaks in the future!
Always nice to see that you're channel is growing at a steady pace. Lets see this keep up till a million+!
Woo, now that I've finished this game, I can fully appreciate the episode :)
That's an INCREDIBLE intro! It's like what my childhood imagination remembers the fidelity of Mario RPG looking and animating like.
This isn't the first time zoom-outs of Super Mario RPG's areas have been made available for public viewing: full views of all of the game's areas were included in the Official Nintendo strategy guide, which I had as a child (and still have, somewhere, though it's in terrible condition). It wasn't until years later that I actually got to play the game (I just got the guide because it looked neat), so it surprised me a little bit when I realized that, of course, not everyone had scene the zoomed-out, full versions of the maps as I had growing up.
Holy shit love this game so much probably beat this game most then any other I've played. Glad you did this so many people I've met never even hear of it and when I tell them you played super Mario RPG, they say Paper Mario? Then I just sigh lol. Thank you again!
There seriously needs to be a legitimate sequel to this game.
Spideymations I guess, but like I said, I want a legitimate sequel lol
Square seems to be slowly getting more friendly with Nintendo again.. who knows? There could be one announced out of nowhere in the future!
Wow! didn't know all those things going on behind the sprites, fantastic episode as always! :D *whispering* can I have my dosis of Castlevania 64 boundary break? 0.0
Please. :)
I've seen a lot of your videos, and greatly admire your work, but hadn't subscribed until today. I wish I could have been there from the start to see all of your videos but I'm glad I'm here, and am very impressed with what you (collective you) have done. I'll be sure to stick around for all of the amazing videos to come!
thanks david! i try to make my vids timeless though so i hope you consider going back and checking out the oldies!
Loving these retro Boundary Breaks! Keep doing what you do man!
The intro is so nice! The animation is so nice, too! 😄
Cannot wait for the SMrpg remake edition of Boundary Break
OMG YOU MADE IT AHH THANK YOUUU
Amazing video! Glad to see my favorite game getting the boundary break treatment! Keep up the good work ;)
Finally another Mario episode! Love your hard work! Keep it up!👍
