*This replaced a smaller Keurig that I owned for 6 years **MyBest.Kitchen** I wanted the convenience of the water receptacle and while this unit is much larger than the previous one, I'm very happy with my purchase. The only downside to this larger model is having to move it from under the cabinets to place the pod and refill it. I was able to rectify this by purchasing glide mats for small appliances. Now, it's perfect!*

Thanks so much! Just got a new Bunn coffee maker (never used a Bunn before). Every time I made a pot, it started leaking before I had got all the water poured into the coffee maker. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong. After I watched your video, I opened the top and found that the small piece was just laying there...NOT SNAPPED IN PLACE!! Snapped it in place like you showed on your video & it was an instant fix. THANK YOU!!

Wow! Dude you have no idea! I’ve been putting up with having to speed run my pot to underneath to catch the coffee for 3 YEARS! I should’ve looked at this a long time ago, but I was told it wasn’t fixable by Bunn. Should’ve known they just wanted to sell me a new one. Love my Bunn and didn’t want to replace, since it made coffee just fine. I just adapted! Hats off to you sir!

I realize your video is a number of years old, but wanted to let you know its still being used. My problem was the same as yours and I was able to put an older Bunn back in service. Thanks for the video.

My problem was different but you gave me the solution in just the introduction of your video. My problem: it quit brewing coffee all together, water just stayed in the top. For years my BUNN used to start brewing about the time I finished pouring the water in and I had to quickly throw the pot under. I thought this was normal. Just listening to you explain that it should brew when the lid is closed, but not open, gave me enough info to look at the mechanism inside, and not only get my BUNN brewing again, but now it holds water until the lid closes as it should!
    Thanks!

Fantastic! I have one of the models with the thermal carafe (no burner). Took me a minute to figure out that the top is secured by two little screws, which are visible under the sliding lid. Otherwise, the cleanup process was exactly the same and worked perfectly. And to think I was on the verge of buying a new one! Thank you!

Thank you for posting this. I have the same type of Bunn - so I was a bit confused as to how to get the top off.

Thanks so much for this. I was UA-cam searching since my 4 year old bunn was running slowly even though I clean it regularly. I didn't realize the lid came off and I found out the small hole on mine was nearly clogged. Yuck! It works like new again now. Thanks so much!

Thank you! This is the second Bunn Express coffeemaker I've owned, and I bought this one because I had this same problem with the first one and just thought it had worn out. You're right - they are too expensive to replace very often.

Thanks for the tip. We have a newer model that was doing the same thing as yours. Took the top off, cleaned with vinegar and it looks like we're in business.

I watched it even though I was trying to figure out what the button on the vacation mode is. But I really appreciate it and yes that's exactly what I do too only had to ship one back cuz it just made a mess but I've been using Bunn 4 over 30 years thank you. Yeah I figured it out but it was still enjoyable watching you

Thank you for this fix! My machine is doing just that, starting to brew before I'm done pouring the fresh water in! I had NO idea the top just pops off like that! Off to clean my Bunn! Ha! Thanks, again!

Same coffeemaker, same problem. Mine had just started doing this about a week ago after 3 years of use. i was going to break out the tools and tear into it this weekend. Like you said, 5 minutes and a little vinegar. Good as new, Thanks, Zaxtor99, great fix.

Sometimes my machine allows more water to come out than I pour in. I fill a Mason jar to the top. Many times the amount of water that comes out could fill the Mason jar and an inch more. Can you give any suggestions? Thanks.

Good fix. But, I just want to add that if you follow Bunn's maintenance schedule, this problem wouldn't happen. You're supposed to clean the coffee maker with vinegar every two or three months. Your coffee maker (especially the carafe... which you use to pour supposedly clean water into the machine) looks absolutely filthy!

Thank you for the "fix".....this youtube fixed it.......but I have another problem also. My grounds are overflowing the filter. I have used the same amount of coffee grounds each time....that has not changed....but things changed the last time I bought a new can of coffee and also new box of filters which we started using both at the same time. HMMMMMM??? cannot figure what is going on with that. I don't like coffee grounds with my coffee!!

    • @Zaxtor99
      @Zaxtor99  9 років тому +1

Hi Jane. I'm sorry to hear that is happening to you and I can understand how coffee grounds in your coffee is not too desirable, lol. The only think I can think of is that the the filter you are using is either allowing coffee grounds through it, OR more likely that the filter is not allowing all of the water to come through it and the water is overflowing up over the filter (with grounds in it) then down the outside of the filter and through the plastic filter holder.
So, if the second and more likely possibility I've thought of is indeed what is happening, then I need to ask you a couple of questions.. 1) Are you buying official "Bunn" brand coffee filters for your Bunn coffee maker? and 2) Are you completely sure that you aren't sometimes putting 2 filters in the filter holder instead of just a single filter (they can get stuck sometimes and seem like just 1) ?
I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but that's all I can think of without a little more information. I would venture to bet though that that 2nd possibility of the water not getting through your filter quick enough and its overflowing over the filter with grounds mixed in.
One thing you might try if you are sure you are using Bunn coffee filters and only using a single filter would be to: TRY WETTING THE FILTER A LITTLE BEFORE ADDING THE COFFEE GROUNDS. Please try that and let me know if it helps.
      Thank you for your comment!

Zaxtor99 Have you tried putting the coffee and water in before you turn the coffeemaker on and close the lid? If I did it like you do, I would have half-made coffee water everywhere too. I never turn it on and close the lid until the coffee and water are in it first. Might give that a try.

I have the same model but it leaves a clear puddle after brewing a pot. Just as it is reheating the new water. Small pot, small puddle. Full pot, big puddle. Not sure how to remove the area you are shown cleaning. There are no screws to remove. Hate to break the thing.

Use distilled water (no minerals)! Using tap water that is "Hard" (calcium and magnesium) shortens the life of appliances (ie. Coffee makers, Hot water heaters, Dish washers, faucets, etc.). Switching to distilled water will not only extend the life of your coffee maker, but you'll have better tasting coffee!!! If you're buying "Good" coffee,or even crap like Folgers, spend the extra money for distilled water.

Never had a problem with mine slowing up until our water softener died. Our hard water with lime and rust brought the Bunn to a near standstill in a week or two. Distilled water hasn't helped. Got a new water softener and will thoroughly clean the Bunn and start over soft. :)

Coffee makers are great, until they overflow! We personally have had several incidences of coffee overflowing, causing frustration and a large enough mess that could have easily resulted in extensive damage not to mention injury. Justin Case Deck manufactures and sells a specialized platform that sits beneath your Coffee Maker. When an overflow occurs the liquid is captured in the Just in Case Deck. If you haven’t had a opportunity please take a look at JustinCaseDeck.com . Thanks again and Best of wishes. Justin Case Deck Facebook Video
