BBC2 Friday Closedown 1997(?)

Another little snippit, the weather followed by Jane Westrop closing down the channel for the evening. No date for this, but the use of the square BBC logo puts it sometime after October 4th 1997, when that was first introduced.

I always found it odd that bbc1 at this time got such a radically new look yet bbc2 kept the exact same idents for another 4 or 5 years. Still, the '2' of this era is without doubt the best presentation package they ever did so not surprised they wanted to get more use out of it, but I always found the balloon idents dull. Much preferred the 91-97 globe and the fancy '1'!
