even with "most important things", one needs to let people go their own way of processing. It takes effort and time to imagine the unimaginable, and all we can do is acknowledge the wounds, we have no way of healing any of this. We can only let ourselves know in as much detail what happened in order to have eyes and ears that recognize the patterns the have led to this and could lead to this again.
@@TA-to7kt :D sorry - I think why I felt like making this comment bcs I also remember feeling annoyed and bored when adults made me listen to "important things" as a student, but I did get most of it in the end, it's just hat one's own mind never understands its own incompleteness at the time when it happens.
That bloke waffling on at the start, around 06:00 is wrong to say that the Germans were undefeated in every battle till 1942. They lost the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940.
God Bless All the Jewish people in WWII..... They went through Hell..... The Servivors carried a heavy emotional load.... I am a Christian and I love all people and this is NOT the way anyone should treat anybody !!!
i'm trying to watch this video and absorb what the gentleman is saying, but I keep getting distracted by the disrespectful kids in the background. Show some respect!
Correction - the Battle of Britain took place in 1940 and the Germans did not defeat the British. If they had, Britain would have fallen and the Americans would have had no base from which to be involved in the war when they eventually joined it.
At 6:07 where he says Germany had won every battle until until this point.. correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Britain defeat them in the Battle of Britain?
Horrible to contemplate, but the historian speaking with the students is a bit too intense in his delivery (for my liking). The older man is much easier to listen to.
I get the historian's point in principle and I wouldn't wanna step on his toes, but just cause it's rather interesting to learn about all the same, the Germans had actually lost some battles before 1942, some rather significant ones, as it happens. One of the earliest and most famous is the Battle of Britain, which was Germany and Italy's failure to dominate Britain's airspace. Then there were some more in 1941, chiefly in North Africa, such as the Siege of Tobruk against the Australians and British, and Operation Crusader, also against the British forces. I'm leaving smaller, less significant ones out (like the Battle of Arras in France, 1940 and a string of naval engagements), but they're all important to some degree, as I'm not someone that likes giving the Nazis a mythology they haven't rightfully deserved. Also, in some ways the Battle of Moscow, which started in 1941, was as good as a loss for the Germans from the very beginning, even though it started in 41 and ended in 42. The Battle of Moscow was Germany's most crippling loss of the war at that time and they never recovered from it, even after they tried to consolidate their efforts in Stalingrad (which they also couldn't take). After Stalingrad, Italy was to surrender some months later; America had now been in the war for over a year, and Nazi Germany's fate in Europe was effectively sealed. It was just a case of calming its death throes.
Hey Ralph....Thanks for this great documentary. Is that you presenting to the students? If it is I love your enthusiasm for the subject and the way you describe the various situations that went on at the time. I hope your film reaches as wide an audience as possible.
Unfortunately it is happening again in North Korea and it's just so sad that people cannot treat each other the right way. That'll never go away no matter how much time goes by. Great video
Yes I agree the type of victim may alter but the premise remains the same. It is a scapegoat type of a scenario. Someone some group has to take the blame for the problems within the country. The ones who really need to be held accountable are the ones who usually are causing the problems predominantly the government and/ or other powers that be. I find this in my country canada the individuals who truly are responsible for the impoverished conditions and sagging economy are those who are in positions of power that are selfish and greedy and want more they want to stay on the top and will do anything including harassment, rape, human trafficking and various other mafia like criminal activity in order to stay on the top of the food chain. They persecute and discriminate us poor citizens in order to keep us down keep us weak and of course once you start persecuting and committing human rights violations against a certain group of individuals than they must continue and up the ante on the abuse tactics to keep their victims in silence through fear tactics and than eventually to silence them forever ( which is a really scary thought!) It really is a scary situation th be in poverty and treated really poorly in your own country of birth! It is very sad, I am a very nice person and I dont deserve this abuse and degradation I havexsiffered through girls too many years ( 15 years) I know I am grateful I have social assistance government help to subsist but at the same time i deserve to live s normal and happy, SAFE life in my own country of birth that is all I ask for these crazy, psycho powers that be to leave me be let me live in peace and have my own life, I dont think that's too much to ask of my own government! I am not greedy like most of the immigrants we now have in our country who demand money from the government and are materialistic not giving a damn that they should be happy to live in our country and not behave like school age children demanding more and more and even taking liberties to treat me like crap in my own country. It's really despicable, meanwhile all I want is my life back to live a normal, peaceful life that these authorities/ powers that be would please mind not stealing out of my apartment when I go out. Please to not blacklist me so that everywhere I go and if I give my name to certain organizations they treat me differently, not so respectfully. If they would just leave me alone I don't deserve to be harassed and persecuted in my own country and have my own citizens turned against me. I have to live in isolation out of fear of being tormented by others. I am not the cause of the problems in this country I am the kindest, gentlest person, i dont commit crimes and yet the elitist corrupt are fixated on me and others as well I'm sure who are in my unfortunate predicament. I am spiritual so i just pray for protection and keep going, I try to take s philosophical approach and write down and read Buddhist quotes to try to keep myself from losing it when I am triggered by the sh**t that I have gone through for the past 15 years. I try to remain strong but it's not easy when you are isolated, have no good family and can't trust anyone because everyone seems to be working for these elitist corrupt powers that be! So yes, its not only happening in North Korea it is happening right north of your border if you are in the states. Just alot of human right violations and atrocities, it's not right. I am starting to realize the sad reality, that the people of my country canada dont seem to have very good morals. They are not people of strong moral character, they dont value a conscience especially here in Ontario people just laugh and act all smug and turn a blind eye a deaf ear to a poor persons plight. I don't understand it and yet it's so hypocritical because act and show the world that value human rights so much and have a great sense of empathy and remorse for the suffering of others but in reality the people and government of my country are cold and indifferent toward the suffering and plight of their own poor. I dont understand it's extremely difficult to deal with my life in canada. Oftentimes I just pray to God to help me to move to another country because it's hard to have moral compass and to be a really great person when you live in a corrupt amoral commie type facist type of a country !

A couple of things he said need clarification 10:08, he said the difference between America and Germany was that America was a democracy and chose Roosevelt. Hardly any refugees went there, even though they were promised land on their arrival. Somebody must know the answer to that. I believe Dominican Republic was a dictatorship at the time and the leader there more than likely wanted the Jews to bring their assets with them but it still isn't clear why they chose to stay in Germany
