Hello brother, impressive work, inspiring me to setup a smaller project in Mombasa, this gives me hope that I can farm all year round with extreme temperatures in Mombasa.
Hello my friend, thanks for sharing this impressive and motivating video. I am a very new vegetable grower from Karachi, Pakistan. I would be grateful to you if you can answer my following questions in order to help me understand more. 1. Total line length and how many lines? 2. Is there only one main water supply line and 1/2" PE tubes connected with this main water line? 3. The drip tube has emitter inside or you manually punched a hole? If manually what dia hole? 4. How much is the power of water pump? Hp/Kw? I see it works with 4 solar plates, how much watts per plate? 5. Did you estimate how much water per plant is required (Per day, per hour, how many liters) 6. Do you run the water all day in breaks? Like 1 hour run and 4 hours stop and then again? 7. What is the max peak summer and winter temperature during day time in the cropping field area? You answers will guide me a lot. Thanks
1. Total length of the driplines is 20,000 meters, average length of laterals was 28 meters 2. Yes we had on mainline 2'' and 11/2'' and several submains of 11/4'', the driplines were 16mm diameter and flat type 3. Driplines had emitters already punched at 30cm spacing 4. The maximum power for the pump is 1.4kw, we supplied 1kw to the pump, solar panels were of 250W 5. Each plant ca require about 1.8liters per day however the schedule can be irrigated twice a week 6. Each zone is run separately and in shifts 7. Temperature ranges from 24-33°C Thank you for your comment
@@WeisEngineeringLtd please may you explain point 5, what does 1.8ltrs per day mean in relation to the twice a week schedule?. are you saying you can irrigate 1,8litres for two days in a week
@@TenmaxZw Thank you for your comment. You irrigate the water required per day multiplied by the number of days you wish to come back and irrigate the same place for example, if your schedule is every after 3 days, water required to be applied will equal to 1.8X3= 5.4 liters. The schedule will depend on some factors like; 1. Actual crop type 2. Soil type 3. Climate, etc
Are you ultimately using gravity to irrigate while the solar powered pump fills the two 10000 liter tanks? Nonetheless, i love your setup and find it very inspirational. Thank you for sharing the video with us. I trust you'll reach greater heights
Actually, im in the district of Kaberamaido in Eastern Uganda. I already have a shallow well at the farm. I would like to know how much it would cost me to set up an irrigation system with enough for a tomato garden of two acres
We are glad to hear from you sir, please send your email address at info@weisengineering.com or WhatsApp contact at +256759790557 so we send detailed list of requirements
Hello, two main factors will determine the size of the pump; 1. Volume of water you may need to pump per unit time for example per day 2. Vertical height from the dam to the delivery point, and other factors
The drip points (nipples) should face up to reduce clogging... Great job!! , Do you have solar pumping solutions from a shallow reservoir (Mini Dam) to elevated tanks 300M away?
Beautiful work. I want to know the transplanting process for the cabbage seedlings because we recently installed the drip irrigation system at our farm in Zimbabwe but we don’t know how to transplant the seedlings for them to be watered by the system. Is the transplantation system the same with normal (traditional) way we transplant?
Hello, we are glad to hear from you. Actual site data (site visit) will be required for realistic estimate proposal You can send us more information via our website link below weisengineering.com/quotation-for-drip-irrigation-in-uganda/
What type material is the pipe that you use to transfer water from borehole to a distance of 200 meters? What is the pipe diameter? And what is the HP of your submersible pump pump? Thanks
Water is flowing by gravity from the raised tanks to the garden. No we are not pumping. Thank you for your comment. Don't hesitate to contact us for other questions
So does that mean the tanks has to be raised above the entire Plaine, or garden? Will the gravity fed systems just as long as the tanks a slightly elevated? Thanks.
Thanks for the message It might be due to ; 1. Longer lateral (dripline) length at a low system pressure 2. Smaller submainline in relation to number of laterals
Thank you, I'm trying to set up a system like that in Zimbabwe and was worried about that last distance from the tank to the Drip lines. Your video is very helpful.
Thanks for the comment Edwin, you may need about 55m Uganda shillings, this will include production borehole survey, drilling, pumping test, solar system, water tanks and drip system for 5 acres.

Weis , Technical advice, what pump can be used to deliver water 600 m away from a dam not a bore hole. The pump should be solar powered.
Also the pump outlet should be 2inch.

I am Montagnard degar I like you farm so beautiful
Hi This is interesting do you have pressure pump to the mainline or you depend on gravity from the water tanks to water cabbages?
We don't have a pressure pump on the mainline, gravity pressure from the tank is enough for Non pressure compensated driplines.
beautiful work and my dream farm too.. How many watts solar panels are you using?
How many HP pump and what's the discharge per hour...?
Panels of 200Watts, Pump hp is 1.8, discharge is 2.5m³/hr

Hallo may i know how many metres of drip line do i need for 2acres of a shamba if you reply it will real help me thanks
With a spacing of 1 meter between copr rows, you will need about 81,000 metere
Are you also pumping water from the tanks on to the field? Or is the water from the tanks dripping from gravity? Thanks
Water is flowing by gravity from the raised tanks to the garden. No we are not pumping.

Hello kindly request you to use English
how much water is dripping per hour from that small drip hole?
Emitters/drippers come with different flow rates from 1 liter per hour to 8 liters per hour.
This in specific was giving 1lph
What is the spacing between plants and between lines?
Between plants: 3ocm
Between rows: 100cm
How much does it cost to put up such an irrigation system.
Advise us on the planned acreage, water source type and estimated distance to the gadern
@@WeisEngineeringLtd Water source is a river bank, about 3km to the farm, planned acreage is one

I Am trying to create a good drip system but my water doesn't get to the end of the drip lines is it the size of the pipe or what?
Thanks for the message
It might be due to ;
1. Longer lateral (dripline) length at a low system pressure
2. Smaller submainline in relation to number of laterals
It must be the pressure and you must raise your tanks up in order to increase pressure
how did you resolve this problem
Is 30 cm drip line distance good for cabbage production
Yes, 30 centimeters can be used
You may need to consider soil infiltration rates and dripper flow rate.
Are you using any pump from the tank to the drip lines, or is it gravity?
No, we are not using a booster pump from tank to the driplines
Thank you, I'm trying to set up a system like that in Zimbabwe and was worried about that last distance from the tank to the Drip lines. Your video is very helpful.

Hello 👋
How much water is used to irrigate 1acre
Hello David, you need about 8,000 litres per day

Because others crops with different spacing were to be planted after cabbages.
