    Great vid, I have the Vivo Forest ESCs but wondering if the Trackers will be warm enough for a Canadian winter vs the Xero waterproof boots. There will be many days I'll be in deep snow or very wet conditions over the winter.

    • @OwenJackson
      @OwenJackson  2 роки тому +1

      Great question. Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with the Xero brand. I’d love to try their stuff one day. I haven’t seen many people rocking Xero in the UK yet 🇬🇧
      I quickly Googled the Xero waterproof boots. They look great and I’m sure they’ll do you proud in your proper winter. Our country grinds to a halt with the tiniest amount of snow ❄️
      As you own the ESC’s I’d see how they get on as the weather gets more inclement. I’ve been happy with their performance but waiting for a proper winter
      All the best and keep me updated 🙏🏻

      @@OwenJackson thanks for your response. Yep I'd like to stick to Vivo as the Xeros do have a bit of thickness to the soles and insert. Loving my ESCs but the winters do get extreme in Canada (-40 celcius and deep snow and ice). All good, when it snows in the UK, it's time for a cup of tea and a slice of Victoria sponge 🇬🇧 😆💯

      @@OwenJackson lol yea, I once brought my thick leather coat to London and I was sweating in December 😀 Yea, ended up grabbing the Tracker to co exist with my ESCs and the Trackers are too cold as well. -2 celcius and I can feel it right through the boot. I'll probably grab a pair of Xeros. Amazing that only after 3 weeks or so, my feet have changed and "normal" shoes hurt badly, even my Vans shoes with BOA lacing feel like I'm getting bound for a wedding with my wife lol 😆

    Hello, a very nice review. I have been looking at these boots for some time, i changed from a German boot over to Brooks Cascadia. I have found, my left foot is a little larger and its not so flexible. This why i have been looking at the Tracker FG.

    Hi! Nice review, thanks! I'm also thinking of buying a pair for work/camping etc. I have one question about this shoe: does the sole needs to be glued back after a while? I read that in a few reviews but maybe vivo took care of that problem. Thanks!

    • @OwenJackson
      @OwenJackson  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Jesse, thanks for the comment. I haven't had to glue the sole yet fortunately, and they've seen some varied weather and a few miles now. I do think that a replaceable sole would've been a more conscientious design choice. I feel the leather boot may outwear the lugs on the sole and the bond between the boot and the sole. Time will tell. Hope you find a solution for your needs whatever you pick

    Hi Owen, just seen your video, I’m a vivo fan and have a pair of Gobi Hi, but contemplating getting the Tracker, can I just ask, do they grip on ice? Cheers 👍

    • @OwenJackson
      @OwenJackson  2 роки тому

      Hi Anne, how fortuitous you should ask. I've been wearing the Trackers over the past few days in the snow + ice here in the midlands. Fortunately the ice didn't lasted long nor become to compacted.
      They've been great. I'd say that with them being 'barefoot' you can certainly feel the ground more and make better decisions when walking, and get more feedback from the ground and conditions. Rather than clomping about in big door kickers.
      I think there are slightly better Vivo boots or boots in general with a more aggressive tread which may be better for more inclement and slippy weather [ ESC's or All weather soft grounds] as the Trackers are only technically designed for Firm Ground.
      Hope fully that helps a little and all the best with your decision making 🙏👣

  • @roachey95
    @roachey95 2 роки тому

    What are your thoughts on the Trackers now? Have you been on any serious hikes with them, have they been good and grippy?

    • @OwenJackson
      @OwenJackson  2 роки тому +1

      They've been fantastic as an everyday boot, hiking, scrambling, wading through water. Even wearing them with jeans to grab coffee.
      I love the brown colour way with red laces, lumberjack vibes.
      Since I got these, they have released two new products, the All Weather SG and the Tracker Forest ESC. Both look to have deeper lugs designed for softer ground.
      The only time I'm cautious in my Trackers is on a muddy descent where they don't have much heel grip compared to boots I've owned in the past.
      I think if you're wanting a better boot for specifically challenging and slippy conditions, the new designs may be the way to go.
      Hope that helps 👍

    Ive 6 pairs of vivo and any day I should be receiving my track fg II's :-) Ive a pair of the fg trail runners & they were useless on anything soft or wet rocks (i live in sligo nw ireland) slipping all over the place....but thats not what they are built for...Ive the SG trail runners too but their lugs are too hard to get to the soft ground on more solid trails (goldielocks)...Would love it if vivo did a hybrid. So I'm not expecting to climb hills during the winter in the trackers here (because I expect rain) but will be using them to walk the dog on dunes, through forests and stuff like that (plus cold water dips). Favorite vivo's are gobis.....so comfortable!!!

    • @OwenJackson
      @OwenJackson  3 роки тому

      John you legend. Great real world experience 🙌 I had considered either the Trail FG or SG for days when I want something more flexible and a lower cut than the Trackers.
      I've since got a pair of Primus Lites which are my everyday / gym trainer. I ❤ them but are useless in the wet... again, not really designed for off road. As you say, a hybrid would be a great edition to keep the need for multiple pairs of shoes to a minimum.

    Been looking at these but they look like they don't have deep enough tread for the British countryside. Its been so muddy this winter and I've been sliding all over the place on muddy hills, even in shoes with more aggressive lugs. Did you find the grip good enough or recommend going for something aimed at soft ground?

    • @OwenJackson
      @OwenJackson  3 роки тому +1

      hey Hannah, thanks for the comment. The Trackers have been great for what I've thrown at them but you're right. I didn't get a chance to try them peak mud + slush this winter, but did a great job in some pretty rubbish weather.
      I've kept my old boots, which have a deeper tread, for more inclement and slippy times. However, there's something about how these boots fit. Just seem like an extension of my feet, if that makes sense. So much more comfortable and will look to use these as often as possible and will forgo some of the overall grip for comfort.
      Hopefully, that helps in some way 🙏
