    UPDATES:
    I actually DID manage to buy myself some SODIMMs that run natively at DDR-3200 1.2v, however they still run at 2666 and there is still no way to adjust that speed in the BIOS, or any other software I can find. I think I've hit a brick wall with the M75Q-I, as far as performance goes.
    In better news, I've just received my Asrock X300, which I'll be testing with the 3400GE AND the 4350G! Look out for a video in the next couple of weeks!

      the UEFI performs detection on the installed CPU to determine memory speed via lookup table. 3400GE is limited to DDR4-2933. the gen 2 with 4600GE supports DDR4-3200. this is intentional because the UEFI used does not support XMP/AMP directly, but only on specific memory SKUs from manufacturers from Lenovo's supplier lists.

    No need to worry about a higher powered Power supply, it's actually safer as long as the voltage is the same as the stock power supply or the voltage it has is what the device needs. Basically a PSU that's 20v @ 6.75 Amps (135Watt) is way better and safer than a PSU @ 20v @ 3.25Amps as not only does it deliver more power but isn't as stressed by the device. The Device will only suck in the Amps it needs, you can plug in a PSU that has 20V with 30,0000 Amps and it wont fry the PC as it'll only pump out what the device needs.

      There's even less reason to be worried, the 135w psu is a specified part in the PSREF, so it's not like you're using untested combinations here.

    I have mine with a 230 watt power brick. Same size as the PC, working well.
    I have that 230w brick to power my P50 docking station and works flawlessly.

    Nice video. Just get myself a 135W AC adapter and same 3D benchmark going up almost double. Although I am not gaming but winning better benchmark make me feeling better. LOL

      I'm looking to do more Quadro videos next year, the M2000 and M4000 are top of my list. The M4000 is a workstation GTX 970 with 8GB of VRAM! I want to find out if it all runs at the same speed, or if it's more of a 7.5GB card... :)

    I picked one of these up for low end gaming and emulation. Managed to get it on eBay for $70. It does in fact have BT/Wifi. Not sure why yours did not buy mine does.

    Do you think it will be dangerous to use a 135w chargeur for gaming ? Heat and Life Time of the computer ? Thanks

    • @swinoob616
      @swinoob616 7 місяців тому

      no, bigger power supply is better than smaller. The pc only takes what it needs, so you are giving it more room with bigger psu.

    These units are DC 20V as long as the same voltage they will only draw the voltage needed if Lenovo makes a 250w or larger 20v with that tip you can run it and no trouble

  • @N3xlow
    @N3xlow 10 місяців тому

    the charger brick only put the power that the machine drains is not problem putting less power draw.... its only a problem when the machine needs more..... so its safe going to the 135w

  • @garymallard4699
    @garymallard4699 3 місяці тому

    The power supply doesn't change the Voltages your computer recieves it increases the Wattage output...so as long as it is a factory option or the proper Voltage to supply into your device it is safe to use.... it will supply the computer what it needs up to it's Max Wattage and in this case the 65 W was barely enough it seems ....
    Plugging in a different power supply without understanding how to read your requirements properly is the dangerous part of changing parts....and that is when things smoke or blow up...

    What is better: m75q (5650g) or x300 (5600g with noctua) in terms of noise (fan) during office/youtube(4k) (no gaming or other heavy tasks).

    Will upgrading the power brick have the same effect on hp prodesks? I have a 405 g4 and I think it is greatly power limited, TDP wont go above 20w.

  • @Veritas0589
    @Veritas0589 2 роки тому

    I don't have the M75Q, but I did pick up a M715q 2nd gen. Going from the 65w to 170w power supply did nothing in my case. The power limit is stuck at around 19w TDP, and none of the usual software methods will unlock it.

    Would be interested if you did the same with the gen2. With certain coupons, you can get a 4650GE for a bit over $500USD. You'd want to bump the ram though, of course.

      @@mikechmielewski386 I'm keeping an eye open, got a saved eBay search for it! I still kinda wanna know if the PSU upgrade helps the new CPUs as much as the previous ones. I also have the Asrock X300 coming and a 4350 to drop in, which might offer some insights

      @@IcebergTech it looks like the Gen 2 accepts a 90W charger, but not the 135W. So sounds like there will be a decent chance to get _some_ amount of boost?
      Also, the touch over 500USD is straight from the Lenovo site. There are codes around to unlock them on the official site, and Lenovo does not seem to care. (A sale is a sale in their book it appears). At that price, it becomes a no brainer (to me) to skip the m75q tiny Gen 1 to get a zen 2 chip in the Gen 2

    With wisely designed electronic devices more amperage = good as it only will draw as many amps as it can if properly designed. More voltage = bad in this use case. Generally speaking. Watts = volts x amps.

      Sorry, looks like I don't have my notes anymore. I seem to recall I searched Github for some Ryzen APU tuning programs. They seemed to have been designed for mobile APUs, not desktop ones on locked BIOSes.

    Though it's not officially compatible, would a 5700G work on this?

    • @IcebergTech
      @IcebergTech  2 роки тому +1

      Definitely not the Gen 1. There is a G2 version that mentions several Zen 3 APUs in its compatibility chart, though it only references the low-TDP 5700GE variant specifically. Whether that means it will detect the 5700G or not, I'm afraid I don't know for certain.

    Shame that manufacturers make you do so much work to get the most out of these machines. I know they're not really meant for gaming, but at least offer a model that comes with the extra stick of RAM and bigger PSU. Also, fuck soldered RAM sticks.

      Yes, absolutely. I tested the 3400GE in GTA V using my Asrock X300 for another video. It managed to run 1080 normal settings at 43FPS. With the slower RAM in this PC, I'd expect it to run in the high 30s on average.
