    Came across this today and could not believe how appropriate of a subject this is for the economic hardship/food shortages we are in. Thank you.

    Community gardens is a big thing that will help in the future. More people must get rid of grass & plant food & collect seeds for times when there isnt any sold.

    My wife has become expert in foraging.
    Hedge food is so abundant here in southern England that it is possible to collect enough to add to our garden, polytunnel & food stocks to increase our supplies enormously.

    I wonder if this video, which now has 14 comments (the first of which was almost exactly 365 days after it was published), I wonder if it is “discovered” because someone started searching for this topic two weeks ago or because UA-cam is saying get prepared (since these cruel elites like to say they gave us a warning for what they are about to do)?

      The ol' YT algos have been showing me all these type videos, very spot on titles and topics... most are generally ' how to survive a Great Depression' themed and from 10 or 12 years ago. If I don't click on them, they keep showing me the same ones over and over.
      It's starting to feel like YT is really starting to care about my wellbeing... ❤ lol

    I am going to have to look up Nancy Turner in regards to her preservation of indigenous knowledge since she is in my part of the world. We are going to need to know what native plants are good to eat. Keep wanting to know more about them.... of course, they are starting spraying programs for willy-nilly threats, so foraging is going to become toxic.

    Next time save the credits for the end. Not everyone needs to hear all the antics, just the information. Yet we never get to hear about any actual foods. Just people blowing their horn about past famines. The video is just to sell the book.

    The body has ways to lower metabolism and live off of stored body fat. The fat people much maligned and hated in modern society are specially adapted to survive famines.

      Not really. They have not learnt to control their bodily drives. To them not eating will be more mentally devastating. Though they may live longer, they are more prone to despair in absence of food. Think ab the half a ton people. What chances of survival is that? To them starvation is only a prolonged torture.

    • @ThePinkBinks
      @ThePinkBinks 2 роки тому +1

      Nope. They have no micronutrients to work on. There’s good fat and bad fat and they’re bad fat.
      They don’t walk to food, they don’t get food.

I also don't think very obese people or people who sit most of the day will have the muscle tone and stamina to make it lon if shtf. It is unfortunate, but all actions or non-actions have consequences. Eat real foods (I suggest lots of meat), use your muscles, build a like-minded community, and use critical thinking when making decisions.

    It gets "lowesome" and "disgusting" when talking about animals as famine foods? What are you talkin about! We've been primarily eating animals since the beginning of time. True academics, spending way to much time talking about your accolades. Native Americans thrived on following the Bison across the plains. Goats have fed countless humans over eternity due to their ability to live just about anywhere, in particular, arid and sparse terrain, dual purpose, used for both meat and milk. You might be able to "survive" on just plants, and that's up for debate itself, but you certainly won't thrive. Meat/poultry/fish/ clams /mollusk products dwarf plant products in their bioavailability of vitamins and nutrients, it is settled science after all. Eating bugs, huuuummmmnnn, where have I heard that before. Academics such as you yourselves get your marching orders from other so called "global elites", and the global institutions from which they serve. Whom are all unelected corporatist in the end. They don't care about people, all they care about is consolidating power and profit margin. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to eating fruits and vegetables, primarily vegetables. But your dogmatic views truly shameful. You'll fit in well at the world economic forum.
