  • Estuary fishing is so much fun but something "new" for me. Jan has some experience and with the help of UA-cam videos and some research we managed to get some fish. Nothing massive but when you fish with lite tackle each hook-up feels awesome. Unfortunate we could not record the grunter due to the poor visibility at night. This is something we will start exploring more...

Lovely video. Is there a reason why you don't grade the prawn size at the point of pumping them and do your count then instead of disturbing the estuary with excess pumping?

🦐 there is a limit of 50 prawns per species a day, -
Sand prawns: Mud prawns: Cracker prawns: Swimming prawns. Swim prawns are free swimming, get them with a throw net usually in submerged grass etc in rivers.
Male sand prawns have one nipper much larger than the other.
Many of us put small prawns back and female prawns back, that have a cluster of orange/dark yellow eggs on their underside,! 🦐

🎣 estuaries are not really damaged by pumping for prawns, worm species and razor clams - pencil bait.
Storms and flooding cause more estuary damage,!
Also, there are poorer people who have to pump baits as mentioned to catch fish, to eat,! 🎣
