I'm from Mexico and I believe the fruit is native to Mexico and other central American countries, it might be native to Jamaica too but I'm not sure if it is or it was introduced some time in the past.. Anyway , we call sapote negro , we also have a fruit called salute Blanca that is kinda similar, that is said to help you have better sleep at night...love from Mexico , Jamaica is such a beautiful country with beautiful people!

This fruit seems a variety of the "persimmons fruit". The wood of this plant was, in the past, used to make the golf club shafts and also the head of Drivers and Fairway Woods. This should be a good export fruit. Mr. Mc, probably does not know, that by pruning the top of fruit trees letting them spread produces more fruit, the fruit is now lower to the ground and facilitates easier reaping.
You may contact your friend Ron T. to get in touch with me. I would not mind that at all.

Yes. I have seen this in slow motion. In Jamaica, the wild breadfruit trees usually grow very tall. When my dad planted one at home. He would be continually cutting the growing stalks. The result was that it was different from the wild growth. At maturity, it was shorter, had a wider spread and easier to reach bounty.

This fruit and its leaves look similar to the Apple. The core is the same this looks similar to the Apple species GRANNY SMITH. It is the same colour green and very tangy and crisp. This fruit us smaller than the Star Apples I have at home. You can see the iron in it once the air gets to it. The same happens when you cut apples of any species.

We’re blessed with 4 trees on our property in Malvern. We have always enjoyed it in our smoothies with just a banana and almond milk, and occasionally we add a half bottle of Malta. But last year we started adding it (while it’s still firm) to out fruit salad every morning. What a blessing! We share with our neighbors and friends.

It is a fruit that has a smooth silky taste that is not very sweet. It's exceptionally delicious when it is very ripe. When I showed it to my husband he said there is a tree where he came from and no one ate it because they called it duppy fruit. After he saw me eating it he tried it and now I can hardly get any for myself. The casing which contains the seed tastes like star apple

I live in fortlauderdale and it grows here . Its origin is South America. There is onother fruit that I have bearing in my backyard that I never knew in Jamaica it is called Canestil or egg fruit when it ripe the inside is like a ripe orange looking like a egg yolk. See if you can find that fruit in Jamaica.

Black sapote eats up free radicals and protects against cancer, and stroke. Never seen it before but will definitely try if I come across it. But I would be careful of diluting the benefits with loaded sugar and fructose from condensed, and those milk and sugar.
