@@hughwood1 I like the simplicity of the new version of the moore unidrill. For that reason we bought it for our farm after trying it first by drilling covercrops into barley stubble with all straw left on the field. Crop emergence in No-till, min-till or planting green as I tried it, works well. But i guess in comparison with the older version that you owned, depth control is Not the same because the new version is built even more simple by using rubber suspension. It can be seen as a pro & con as well. I think with the nee versión that I own it is more important levelling the fields well before starting No-till. Especially if you want to Go from Plow-till to No-till one or two years of minimum till could be helpfull levelling the surface of the fields well.
If you put weights in the drill and fill up the tank the machine weighs ~4000kg. I have the 24 Coulter version so I think 160kg per Coulter is possible. This year I want try using only half of the coulters to double row spacing and lower soil disturbance. In this case i would drive the drill without extra weights. Then I think down pressure of 275kg per Coulter or with extra weights 330kg per Coulter is possible. The question is whether the components can withstand this load.
