In the final Big Ten quarterbacks rankings, I expect Edwards to be 7 plus or minus 1. That is pretty good, and a big upgrade. The Illini experience with Luke Altmyer and his improvement in one year makes for a good potential comparison of what Edwards should do. Badger O line in 2025 will be significantly better than Maryland of 2024.
Notre Dame in the semi’s with dual threat Riley Leonard, a 86/mid 3 star out of high school who developed at Duke. ND chose this guy out of portal last year rather than paying up for the future NFL guy. And 3rd one and done guy out of portal in last 4 years including our guy Jack Coan. So lots of ways to do it, has to fit your offense. I think a healthy all season, tough veteran Big 10 player like Edwards in a dynamic running game focused offense is going to be a huge improvement. Insane schedule again, so just get to a bowl and build towards much more reasonable ‘26 and ‘27. On Wisconsin!
Always root a bit more for my last name - namesake - players. I do think Fickell has gotten a better feel for what is needed in “this” Big Ten and what can work for Wisconsin in it. He’s had the chance now to evaluate and tweak both staff and players with schemes. I’m hopeful. But, we do need above average quarterback play to go with a return to a good running attack, and receivers that can get open and catch balls. I like how we are bolstering the d-line while maintaining a stable of linebackers, but, we need to seriously strengthen the secondary which wasn’t so much a problem before. Also, we need guys from his first couple of recruiting classes to contribute. If all that comes together, we can be better in 2025.
I actually wonder if there was talk that the staff preferred Trech's game and thats why he came back and Pauling left. Trech is less proven, but the better player imo. I'm actually glad Pauling left as Trech now can be the clear #1. Good luck too Pauling tho and hopefully, his career continues to go well.
I think Billy Edwards can win you 5-6 wins with this schedule. Middle Tennessee, Miami Ohio, Maryland, maybe Minnesota, Illinois, Washington are winnable games. But Wisconsin secondary could be Maryland Oline bad.
Matt Jung I think is not talked about enough either. Dude is from Wisconsin, will play with GRIT. Tore it up at D3

Last year, Tressel still thought he could use linebackers as lineman. With him being on the hotseat, I think he learned his lesson.

so his greatest asset is hey he's not Locke. QBs and transfers o UW... Hey if he can just be serviceable... Warm and fuzzies...

Do you think Billy's ceiling is higher for where he can bring this team or was van dykes higher?
Billy - far better legs - equal arm
Does Edwards = Mordicai
The Badgers will be fine at corner in 25. It's January 3rd already relax.
The new qb is just an upgrade not an exciting get. If Wisconsin is going to be elite. Then need a higher end qb. Spend on a QB it's worth the money
no high end qb aspires to become a Badger...... yet
@CraigFissel pay them and they will. It's the one position that's worth paying for. Pay them and they will come
