I started stitching in 1982 or 83, and was gung ho until the mid 90s when my son was young and I returned to work full time. I began quilting and did so for years. Started knitting when my son left for college. When COVID and social isolation hit, I stumbled on Floss Tube and enjoyed the chatting, etc. After a bit, I was inspired to haul my stitching goodies out and am now hooked all over again. So glad I didn't get rid off everything in a recent crafty purge.
Great video! You could make a three hour video and I wouldn’t be tired of watching! Deb, your deer and cardinal finish is stunning and Liz, I love your little Kringle’s Crow. The Sampler Wreath is going to be awesome! I remember seeing a model of that years ago and it is amazing. It will be fun to watch you two stitch on that design. Happy stitching til next time!! ❄️☃️❄️🤍💜💙🥳🎉
I am fairly new to floss tubes. I have been watching past episodes. Love seeing all the things. I just watched episode 97 that Liz mentioned that when she lived in California she lived in Lompoc. I live in Lompoc. We've been here since 1991. My SIL lived here in the 1980s. I am looking forward to watching more of you two. Thank you.
Thank you for this very informative video, watching from England , newish subscriber/embroiderer really enjoyed how you bounce off one another a great friendship. Liz Thompson
Oops! I hit the thumbs up before you mentioned it! I started stitching in the 70’s. My kids came along in the late 80’s and life became busy . I did a little stitching here and there, but really got back into it last year. Great video!
With me its owls that have meaning.. Hope Logan is better soon. I am paying a visit to Amazon and going to order the glasses and the sticker book for my daughter for Valentines....thankyou for helping me spend money.....
Just got back to stitching last year after a multiple year break. I started stitching in 1980. So happy to see some of my favorite designers like Sue Hillis still designing.
Finally watching on my phone so I remember to comment. I loved listening to you two talk about your stitching. You are so blessed to have each other as the needlework community is to have you both! As always, lovely projects. Thanks for sharing. ~ Barb
I love you two but Im sure I've said this before. I AM a new stitcher and am so overwhelmed by the stitching options!!! I love all patterns, samplers, Quakers, BBD and Carol Manning and HAED starting with mini first! NEW STITCHER HERE am a quilter who needed a diversion to keep my hands busy when watching TV (instead of eating)SO much to learn still OMGosh such fun. 😍😄😍🤗
I just found you both and I am enjoying and learning so much from your videos! I’m back into stitching after a roughly 20 year break and boy things have changed. Thank you for sharing your love of all things needlework. What you both have been sharing is simply gorgeous.
I found this info about the symbolism of the pear: In many cultures spanning thousands of years, we can find references to the fruit of the Pear tree as a symbol of divine sustenance, abundance and longevity. The shape of the pear has represented the female form in the art world for centuries, creating a strong symbol of fruitfulness and femininity. Hope this is of interest to you x
I love the finishes both of you had. The way you personalize each piece is amazing. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. I learn something new each time.
So glad I found your channel, I am new stitcher started in August 2020 and am so glad I found it needed a hobby to clear my mind after work, I was very quickly hooked, I have started a flosstube to document my journey and to try and encourage others to cross stitch no matter what age you are.
Just when I think I got plenty of wips, I watch a floss tube and find more to stitch!😁 I enjoy your videos immensely. It’s actually very kind of you to help beginner stitchers...we were all there at one time. I am continually learning something new. I will be showing up at my LNS with a list in hand! Love your idea of a remembrance piece. That is definitely a chart I will be getting. One of my daughters actually rented a house because while she was taking a tour of it, a cardinal came to the patio and stayed during her visit. She loved that house and had very nice neighbors who she still keeps in contact with. Only reason to move was expanding family...She and her husband now have 3 children and two dogs!😁😁 Thanks again for sharing your time and talents.
I enjoy getting all the new ideas you two are such fun to watch , thank you for all the sharing , I love your stag work Deb how beautiful and thoughtful everything is wonderful , always enjoy
A first - time visitor to your channel . I love Cross Stitch 💕 and I love your Beautiful Channel. All your work is very Esthetic and Elegant.Thank You Very Much ❤️
What a joy to see you in this New Year 🥰 And your stitching is so lovely 😍 I hope that we can share the joy of needlework together in 2021 !! Thanks Liz en Deb ♥️😘
Hi! Great video! What a beautiful Idea to stitch the friendship sampler together. You both have gorgeous finishes and projects that your share, such an inspiration. So I have in and ordered G. Leger from my local store. It may be a while before I get it but it's something I know I'll enjoy. Stay safe and happy stitching! Lori
Your cardinal Stag piece had me in tears. I truly believe cardinals are a sign of someone we are missing is always with us. Thank you so much for this ! ❤️
I have always heard that about a cardinal, but for me, it was a pigeon that visits. My father raised homing pigeons for years and the week after I returned home after his passing, a pigeon was in my backyard; I truly believe it was my dad "checking in".
Deb, as a Labor and Delivery nurse, my heart aches for your tiniest cardinal. Heaven and Nature Sing is beyond stunning!! As a memory keeper, I am playing with a sticker to put on the back of my framed pieces with all the information about the piece for my nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews for the future. As always, I have absolutely LOVED listening to you two chat and giggle. You two remind me of myself and my best friend, we both love to craft, and I hope to teach her to cross stitch someday. I cannot believe that stocking was not claimed!! It’s such a treasure!!! Have a great week, ladies, and I look forward to seeing you again soon!
Hi Ladies, I'm new to cross stitch and started with small HAED called Lila. Enjoying the process of creating a picture from thread. I'm participating in the beside the sea SAL. Loving yours...such beautiful stitching. I love that your bothe doing it differently and making it your own. Thank you most enjoyable🙋♀️
Oh my goodness, ladies, I've been looking for the Sampler Wreath pattern for ages! I see the pattern occasionally on Ebay for high prices. I went to Mary's site, ordered, and downloaded before your video was finished! I'm totally thrilled! Thank you!!
Afternoon Ladies.. playing catch up oan f/t... I so love how you finished your Cardinal stag.. I believe when I see a Robin someone is visiting with us... Love the pear and all of this sampler... Dennis loves them too... I must behave...Happiness is stitching./ singing... I am now singing let heaven and Nature sing... .. stay safe... xx Louisa..
Just wanted to thank you for the basics. I have been stitching for a long time, but starting from scratch was great to reinforce what I am doing well and areas that I can improve. Look forward to more.
You all are such a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. Deb, I love the Heaven and Nature Sing personalizations with the cardinals - how special.❤️ I also love the piece y'all pulled from the vault and am excited to see your progress with it. Blessings for a wonderful week. Enjoy every stitch!
So good to see you two back together. I enjoyed your video as I stitched. Love all the beautiful pieces that you showed, can’t wait to see your progress. Hope you both have a wonderful week.
Enjoyed your FlossTube as always! Liz - thanks for sharing the StarBarn Design. I had to order immediately from the designer. My Aunt (80 yo) grew up in Elizabethtown, went to Eliz. College, and I used to travel by the Star Barn a few times a week when I worked with dairy farmers in Lancaster and eastern counties. Love that barn and can't wait to stitch it. Deb - love your Kathy Barrett Design finish!! I have that pattern and hope to start it this year. I love the Cardinal idea. I also had to go to Martina's FlossTube and bought her pattern...And also bought the motifs book (not Deb's copy... from another source). I hope to live to 200 so I can stitch all these designs. I wish I hadn't lost the last 5years when I wasn't cross stitching. Colorado Stitcher just showed library cards she bought (Amazon) to put in an envelope on the back of her samplers to provide details. However it is done would be great to share the details with future generations. Thanks again for all your ideas. I really enjoy your videos! Sandy
just amazing video. loved everything. i am sure i have some mary beale stockings. i want that wreath you little enablers. love you both so much. thanks bunches, lynette
Every night around 5pm a red cardinal visits my Mom. We have always said its Dad as he passed in 1999. He was such a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and is missed so very much. Thanks for the story of the red cardinal as we thought we were the only ones who had ever thought of the connection. This validates what we always thought. 🌷🌷
I'm new to cross stitch. I'm a quilter but saw Kimberly show how to cross stitch. My mother embroiderys. I'm still slowly working on my first one. It's a true learning as I go.. Feet first.
Thank you for your video. My faves are back! Love seeing you guys, visiting with you, and seeing your lovely stitching. Liz, that little bird on Santas hat is adorable, and I like your choice of stitches, it really gives it interest. Deb, that piece with the Stag is gorgeous and I love your idea with the cardinals. It doesn't always have to be initials, and I'm going to steal that idea for my projects. Thank you! Until next time, take care and happy stitching!
Oh my golly gosh! Thank you soooo much for mentioning me & my first of 2 designs I've done. Knowing you like my flosstube (done 2 videos so far) & first design is such a wonderful compliment & feeling especially from you both, one of my all time favourite flosstubers. This must be how people feel when they get an Oscar! 😂😂 Had to say this, now brewing up a coffee to keep me company while watching the rest of your video (it's early morning here). I always drop everything to watch your fab videos. & yes, those silks look perfect for SGG Liz!Thank you again, hugs & luv, Martina 😍
Deb, you Heaven and Nature Sings is stunning! Thank-you, both, for another great floss tube. I enjoyed your vault segment. I’ve been stitching for years and look forward to seeing pieces from the past.
So glad to see you both together again and you’re both healthy! Your videos bring me so much joy not to mention seeing your beautiful needlework. Thank you for continuing to inspire those of us that love cross stitching ❤️🪡🧵
Hi I just found you ladies..I cross stitch but really never watched videos about the cross stithing...I think y'all are great...can't wait to watch cross stitch friends
I love what you did with the cardinals. I have heard that when you see one it is someone who has passed coming to visit. We don't get cardinals here but I love them! They are a beautiful bird. I have a few patterns to stitch of cardinals. I am not a fan of samplers myself but I enjoy watching your videos immensely. I like to stitch while I listen to your videos and I really like that they are long videos, like this one. I am looking forward to your next video! Take care & happy stitching.
I'm a new cross stitcher. At 61 I've discovered this amazing world and started stitching a year ago. I've stitched about 25 projects so far. I order online since the closest shop is 2 hours away and we are in lockdown. I love your videos!
I always smile to myself when you talk about Elizabethtown. In 1975, after I graduated from physical therapy school, I did a 6 week clinical internship at the Elizabethtown Hospital for Children and Youth. I didn't see much else in the area, because I was working there all week, and on the weekends I went home to Philly. That rehab hospital for pediatrics was a very old facility when i was there, and I don't know when it was closed, or moved, or merged with another center, but I did learn quite a bit about pediatric PT there.
Love the deer and cardinals piece. Yes, they say cardinals come to rest on a chair outside that a departed person always sat on or rest in a special place of a departed loved one.
I’ve been stitching since 1980 and the designs have surely changed as you said. But I still have them and there are certain ones I still think I’d do, I love the Jacobean and I now visualize how beautiful it could be on the new dyed linens!
My favorite cross stitch UA-cam program. So fun to watch, relaxing and respectful. Love Deb and Liz!! Thank you so much for sharing your projects and life stories and experiences. You’ve inspired me to start cross stitching again after nearly 40 years (1980’s) !! 🤪😜. You’d be my “best friends” if I lived closer, but Iowa is a bit far away. ❤️🙂❤️🙂
As always, a wonderful video! I stitched the Mary Beale wreath 2 years ago from the PDF chart. The symbols were hand done. It was a bear at some points and I had to have it "blown up" by my local Staples. And I mean giant! They used the printer for architectural printouts! It is a beautiful piece and I did make the wreath but I love your ideas of monograms, etc. Happy Stitching!
Thanks for taking the time to do a show and tell! I am an old switcher but still love to see how others stitch and treat the floss. I appreciate you both
I truly think it was meant for me to see this video. About an hour before watching the video I was going through my mother’s embroidery iron on patterns and fabric squares she had cut. My mom passed away in February 2020 and I thought it would be nice to finally trying to take out some of her work and use it to incorporate it into my sewing and quilt gifts I give to others. I haven’t embroidered in quite awhile because my mom had gone blind and it was something we did together. I’m looking forward to finding peace and enjoyment in it again
To answer your question, I returned to sewing in February last year and bought a bunch of sewing machines. It was right before the pandemic, and I have not owned a sewing machine in maybe 35 years. So I returned to stitching last year. However for needlearts, I learned to embroider as a child and probably haven’t embroidered in 40 years. As for Crosstitch, I have never done it before! I am on my second piece and I started cross stitch mid January, 2021. So I am a brand new Cross stitcher. Just trying to teach myself on UA-cam! Thank you for your inspiration and tips.
Hi Liz and Deb. Loved this video. I also love designs by Mary Beale. I have the collection of Christmas Remembered cross stitch books and a couple of those books have some very beautiful designs of hers that I have wanted to stitch forever. You have inspired me to look through the books to find the charts and possibly start them. Thank you for reminding me of her gorgeous artwork. Until next we visit, I hope you have lots of relaxing stitching time........Crystal
Great video as always, I love Deb's Heaven and Nature Sing. I had to smile when you where talking about first cross stitches, mine was Teresa Wentzler's The Castle. Talk about leaping in with both feet!
I thought you ladies might be interested in how Sue from Floss Toss # 14 is marking her Book of Days.Sue has an hp brand sprocket photo printer and she’s printing pictures of her work/progress and putting in the book. Very clever and personalized idea. It’s about half way thru the video. It’s good to watch all of them anyway they are so entertaining.
I am currently working on 7 vintage labels. I have completed Morton Salt, Arm & Hammer Baking Soda, Old Dutch Cleanser, Towles Log Cabin Syrup, and Nabisco Uneeda Biscuit. I bought the counted cross stitch patterns around 1980!! So, I am a returning stitcher.
Deb, your stag sampler is gorgeous. What a wonderful remembrance for your family. You are very creative. I also liked your idea to add onto the wreath sampler. Wonderful episode ladies.
Always enjoy your flosstubes, ladies! I went to Strawberry Sampler twice, but years ago. It is a nice shop and I believe they just moved. I must go back!
Deb your Heaven and Nature Sings is absolutely beautiful, love the all cardinals stitched as remembrance of family members that have passed!. Enjoy watching both of you .
Hello girls, I’ve been trying to get through your video all morning, but I have to keep pausing and going to look for all the goodies you keep showing. Great video, love you girls xxx
It was such a joy to see/hear you together again! I so enjoy all your floss tubes and am so glad you and your families are doing well! I got so excited when you went in the vault and started talking about Mary Beale’s stockings! I bought 5 of them “back in the day”! Was smart enough to also buy all the same fabric for all of them way back then. However....I’ve only stitched one so far, but have them in my Sunday rotation! They are truly beautiful! You have re-ignited by desire to keep going until finished as I’m sure it will be an heirloom! You both make my heart smile!!
Love Deb and her shop Stitches n Things. She runs a great shop and forever ago sent me a tiny piece of linen with stitches to show me “how to”. She is great.
About the cardinal and the remembrance of a passed person, be sure and read "A Redbird Christmas" by Fannie Flagg. It's a sweet story that will touch your heart. Loved seeing your "Heaven and Nature" finish! It's breathtaking!
So great to see you two together again. I've watched Deb's home tours so many times that I can actually spot where you are sitting :) Thanks for all the stitchy inspiration.
I just came across your channel and I just begun listening and I’m really enjoying it. It’s nice that you have each other and you share your wonderful talents and time with us. Thank you
I'm a new cross stitcher & love it! I feel I could sit for hours & stitch. It's so relaxing & satisfying. I love your videos & learn so much. Thank you!
I am a returning cross stittcher, and I love it! I started in 1983 when I got a job in a cross stitch shop. Everything was either very country or Precious Moments back then. I wish I would have liked Prairie Schooler when she first started out! I was lucky to attend many Spirit of Cross Stitch because almost everything was available in the vendor mall.
So good to see you ladies back together again! Deb, I love the changes you made to Heaven and Nature Sing...so beautiful and personal. Cardinals are my favorite bird also. Liz, I have the same top you are wearing and love how comfy it is.
I've just come across your channel and after watching the first 5 minutes, I immediately subscribed. I have been looking for a stitching channel without much success so thank you for being on here. You have kept me company while I stitched (I embroider, as well as crochet). I have some cross stitch kits, which, after watching you both, you have inspired me to pick them up again and finish them! You are truly inspirational and a joy to watch. Have a lovely day 😊 xx
Loved the idea behind the cardinals! Beautiful! I also love that wreath sampler, and even more the idea of not making it an actual wreath, but putting initials in the circle and both ideas of making it larger with motifs or putting it on a box! 😊💗
I've been looking forward to seeing you again. I have been following you for a few months and enjoy seeing your beautiful work. Years ago I cross stitched but now focus on wool applique. I live a few miles from Primitive Gatherings Quilt Shop here in Wisconsin and they have so much to offer for stitchers. I wish I could find more people that stitch on wool but not too many in my area. I would love to have a group to stitch with and share ideas. You have so many good ideas and advice.
Thank you for sharing your changes on the different icees. Such beautiful needlework. I love the relationship between the two of you-so calm and uplifting!
Thank you, Liz, for revealing your struggle with the border! You seem to just stitch away without problems!!! I have made the painful decision to start over the “Kringles” toy store. I did the building first, not the roof, but the building. Now going back and filling in the windows my count is off. SO....I am going to start over doing one window at a time. I want this piece framed and on my wall. LOL. Take care you two.
Lovely work ladies, a bit of a concern you two must be in your own bubble to protect your family's from covid. Be safe wear a mask when you go out. We all worked hard to free of covid in our country,New Zealand, take care!🌻🏖
Yes we were definitely in our own bubble while waiting to find out if everyone was virus free, that’s why we were apart for so long. Thanks for watching. ❤️
GREAT video! I identified with Liz's struggle with the border after just finishing a piece that I frogged a lot! I love what Deb did with the Kathy Barrick piece and may do that too. Our family lost 5 people in September and October, none of which were the virus. We lost my husband's brother to cancer, his father,my 31 year old nephew,a cousin, and my mother. Tough fall! I also love what you two are doing with the Sew by Row. Although I like the original colors, they are not my decor. I like the sizing adjustments too. The Mary Beale segment-❤❤❤! I have added lots to my stash this year but still have pieces from times past like Mary Beale's that still call to me. Again, all around enjoyable video! So there's my comment 'letter'! 😂😂Thanks ladies!!!

❤️Deb&liz
Deb, you Heaven and Nature Sings is stunning! Thank-you, both, for another great floss tube. I enjoyed your vault segment. I’ve been stitching for years and look forward to seeing pieces from the past.
So glad to see you both together again and you’re both healthy! Your videos bring me so much joy not to mention seeing your beautiful needlework. Thank you for continuing to inspire those of us that love cross stitching ❤️🪡🧵
AWESOME video. Deb, great idea with the Cardinals.
Hi I just found you ladies..I cross stitch but really never watched videos about the cross stithing...I think y'all are great...can't wait to watch cross stitch friends
The wonderful energy you radiate... I subscribed instantly. I'm so glad I came across your channel. Thank you!
I love your videos!
great video! Thanks ladies. Love the gadget corner. I learn so much from you two ladies. Have a great week and happy stitching!!!!
You 2 are a breath of fresh air. Such a joy to watch, or listen to while stitching. Have a great week.
Thank you for sharing your story with us!!
Hugs to you!!!!
❤️Deb&liz
To answer your question, I returned to sewing in February last year and bought a bunch of sewing machines. It was right before the pandemic, and I have not owned a sewing machine in maybe 35 years. So I returned to stitching last year. However for needlearts, I learned to embroider as a child and probably haven’t embroidered in 40 years. As for Crosstitch, I have never done it before! I am on my second piece and I started cross stitch mid January, 2021. So I am a brand new Cross stitcher. Just trying to teach myself on UA-cam! Thank you for your inspiration and tips.
So lovely to see your gorgeous faces. Another wonderful episode x
I would love to see your old things. Would you consider doing a video of the jar toppers, etc? Love your chit chat.....
What a great episode. Heaven and Nature Sing is simply magnificent! 💝
Julie Nicely is the young lady you mentioned! I follow her too! She’s amazing and a breath of fresh air! Such a talented new stitcher!
Beautiful finish on the heaven and nature and love the personalization. Enjoyable video as always. Blessings
Enjoy you ladies, happy to see you together and healthy.Deb,the heaven and nature piece is outrageous, such a wonderful touch you have added to it.
Thanks for your lovely time that you both shared with us,,, my bests regards
So great to see you two together again. I've watched Deb's home tours so many times that I can actually spot where you are sitting :) Thanks for all the stitchy inspiration.
I just came across your channel and I just begun listening and I’m really enjoying it. It’s nice that you have each other and you share your wonderful talents and time with us. Thank you
I'm a new cross stitcher & love it! I feel I could sit for hours & stitch. It's so relaxing & satisfying. I love your videos & learn so much. Thank you!
I absolutely love your black glasses frames!
Thank you Liz and Deb, my head is filled with your beautiful stitching and ideas. God bless.
I stitched over 20 years ago and just came back in 2020. I was shocked with all of the new goodness and it is addicting!!
Enjoyed seeing you back together after the holidays! Great video, as always. Love Mary Beale designs and both of your finishes!
I love your relaxed, fun friendship that you share with us! One of these days I will attempt a sampler. For now, I enjoy yours.
So good to see you ladies back together again! Deb, I love the changes you made to Heaven and Nature Sing...so beautiful and personal. Cardinals are my favorite bird also. Liz, I have the same top you are wearing and love how comfy it is.
Beautiful stitching, ladies! Deb, I love the added cardinals and the meaning behind them. What a wonderful keepsake to hand down to your daughter.
👍🏼 I took a 30 year hiatus from cross stitch. So many things have changed! Yes, I’m a newbie.
Deb, I love how you personalize a chart! Thanks for the inspiration.
Your finishes are both beautiful! I love the addition of cardinals representing family members, making this an heirloom to be passed down for sure!
You 2 have way too much fun. Oh I have to order that sampler motif book soon.
Thank you for sharing your changes on the different icees. Such beautiful needlework. I love the relationship between the two of you-so calm and uplifting!
Thank you for helping us with everything. I love that you are willing to teach us.
Love your Heaven and Nature finish. "When a cardinal appears, a loved one is near". I have that chart, thanks for such a great idea.
Thanks Katheryn❤️
I too noticed you wore the same sweater. Love it. 💕
I love 80s cross stitch. The more Geese and fromage, the better, in my opinion. I just bought a kit from 1981!!!
Loved watching you both it must be great to have a good friend that shares your passion for stitching.
