    Hey friends, I’m Jason Ross, the lead screenwriter and co-author of the series. Thank you for your review. This film has been 10x more controversial than we expected, and we’re pretty thrilled with that. As you say, it is a thinking movie.
    If you have a chance to continue with the TV series that picks up right after the film, on Angel Studios streaming. The first two episodes are up now with six more coming next spring.
    Prepper controversy: Jeff Kirkham (co-author, 28 year Green Beret) and I stand by the film-and that’s not to say that Jenna Ross does it right. We have no idea what would be “right” in that situation. Jeff and I stand on this: we cannot possibly know what to expect and how to react in a way that maximizes survival. We can probably count on a strong community, and we can likely count on shared faith. Beyond that, we need to be wary of our certainty. Our experience, skills and humility are all powerful “weapons,” perhaps far more so than our blasters.
    Thank you all, so much for getting your opinions and thoughts out there. We wanted to move the world toward homesteading and preparedness, and we’re so happy that people are sinking their teeth into it-if they agree with the film or not.
    Lots more to come!

      Great movie! Thank you all for all your hard work in bringing this movie to theaters. If we all do our part to be prepared, we won't need to steal from each other ❤

      @@jasonross8368 It was a good movie and a lot of criticism is really “I would’ve done it differently.” As a conversation starter, the movie and I expect the series to be a good starting point. Peace.

    I have not seen the movie yet, but maybe the best way to dissuade unprepared people from targeting your resources during a catastrophe is to ensure you do not appear to have resources. I have seen tons of videos on gray man bug-out or get-home scenarios, but have never seen a video about a gray house. If you have food supplies, but your plan depends on outdoor cooking, you are probably advertising to the whole neighborhood you have food. If you are running a generator, you have gas and most likely food and other supplies and everyone in the area can hear that you do. If you cut your lawn when no one else has power, they will come looking for your stuff. I have been wondering if it would be worth the planning and effort to make the house appear deserted or looted, in other words, a gray house.

    • @NormalPrepping
      @NormalPrepping  19 днів тому +1

      We have thought about that, but you are right. Not many people talk about it. We did a video on how far away our generator can be heard but we assumed people knew the reasoning. Thanks for another video idea!

    I could & would most definitely turn away strangers showing up at my house if shtf.
    I don’t know about family. I have my dad and brothers next door (we own homes & land), and daughter and grandkids 1 mile away (renters). They would come here and be welcomed. But I have family I hardly ever see and don’t really want to. They are like stray dogs. Stay long enough to drain resources, contribute nothing, then leave.
    Ummm, seeing it in writing, makes it pretty clear which way I’ll swing.

    The one genre I avoid is post-apocalyptic, (books, movies, shows). HOwever, my husband would love it and after listening to you, I might. I am against the idea of trying to run out and be totally self-sufficient. Actually, I think many of those make your average person throw up their hands and say, "Well, we can never do THAT, so why bother?"
    That there ARE bad people already out there and then when we have the desperate folk, being out there is just a real problem for me. We ran into hard-core survivalists 35 years ago and I can tell you, they are already there, entrenched and they are not loving, giving, helpful folk! They stopped me cold from considering a bug-out location with others, as we had been pressed to get involved with them. The more I see, the more I realize that things can get terribly bad on purpose, to get us to beg for "help" (martial law, which I truly believe is coming), and no one is going to be able to part those people like the Red Sea and pass through. You can't fight off all the bad and desperate people no matter how much self-defense you have or know. I do not believe we will go all Mad Max; I am certain that the government is more than ready to step in BIG TIME.

    • @NormalPrepping
      @NormalPrepping  19 днів тому +1

      Yes, pepping and the thought of what could happen does make a person throw up their hands. There is no perfect way to be prepared. We just have do what we can and know what may happen. As we said in our review, we saw what happened in 2020 and other disasters.

      @@NormalPrepping always had extra and saw us through everything thrown at us, weather-wise, economically, physically. When the pandemic hit, what I was seeing made no sense, so I went looking into what in the world was going on.Well,I found out what was going on in the world, and started seriously prepping.
      All we can do is do all we can do and hopefully, it will be enough. I fear for most people. May God help us all.

    We saw the movie opening night and were disappointed. You should know before going in, that it’s not really a movie it’s a series.
    Essentially the entire movie is a setup to get you to watch the series. In order to finish the movie you have to scan a QR CODE at the end of the movie and purchase another ticket. So basically $35 bucks.
    We had a party of 7 people and everyone agreed they felt disappointed by how the movie strings you along to an unfinished ending. Everything you think the movie was going to be about is supposedly in the next episode.

    Neal McDonough's character seemed to be the rich prepper stereotype. Buys a lot of stuff, but doesn't think it through or practice their preps.
    The rest of it was believable. Though training a 50 cal to "keep their heads down" seems like a waste of expensive ammo.

    • @NormalPrepping
      @NormalPrepping  17 днів тому +1

      I noticed both of those points you made. For them not being prepared was a good lesson because I see this in real life. It is surprising how many people do not practice their preps. This includes practicing a bug out and know how to use their equipment. I hope when people see others make mistakes they learn from them.
