Sheldon was being completely reasonable here, this was a huge opportunity for him and all Connie had lost was just some physical possessions, it was terrible that it happened but it had happened, nothing could be done, no one was hurt and she had family there to comfort her.
Not to mention meemaw TOLD HER NOT TO COME BACK. And her Mom dug her heels refusing to admit that they were not needed. She wants to feel needed and in control.
Right? I don't understand people saying, "But she's just worried about her mother!"That's understandable, but then again Connie says explicitly that she didn't need anymore people to take care of her. The cooper house is already crowded as it is. She is fine and she understands that Sheldon needs that higher and more advanced education. And sheldon is right, she is okay, her house is destroyed, but she's okay. Going back is not gonna change anything, it's not really urgent. If she wants to support morally, she can do it by phone asking her mother's update conditions and situations to prove that she cares and be there for her mother. She doesn't need to go home.

She was the villain in the Big Bang Theory too. It's just the natural continuation of her horrific person.
She genuinely seemed to disdain anyone from her family doing things that gave them autonomy or personality in everything i saw.
I wouldn't call her a villain 😭 she isn't praying on her family's downfall 😭 she's a well-meaning woman who is misguided and has some control and guilt issues. But she does care for her family in very respectable commendable ways

That was clearly not the plan as evidenced by Sheldon being the one with the lost room. She actively went against the plan even though every single person she knew was telling her not to go against the plan and that there was no reason to go against the plan.

There’s really no reason to go home here, absolutely nothing he nor Mary or anyone back home can do. Be there for his grandmother?? To be honest she has a whole family’s worth of people there anyways. Plus didn’t Mandy move in too? There’s hardly any room for anyone in that house. (Yes I saw the clip when they come home and Sheldon has to go to the garage, which the comments there are all against Sheldon but I’d be pissed if I came home from a trip to learn I’m getting kicked out of the bedroom I’ve been in all my life)

Sadly my mom (God rest her soul) was exactly like this. It was her way of the highway, and she refused to let anyone try and challenge her. Sheldon was entirely right here. If it's not someone dying or something like that you can't put off classes especially when you're just starting. Losing the house was a tragedy, but it would have hurt Sheldon and his college career immensely to have left.
