I am big fan too was born in 90 s but discovered his movies at young age he is irreplaceable that's why he became the heartbeat of fans is the biggest and first superstar of cinema. He just mixes with ones blood the acting charm expressions in every scene every dialogue just so realistic as if RK is that character. Koi aisa kabhi ho nahi sakta . He lives in our hearts

What a excellent movie....hats off to Basu bhattacharya who made this type of cinema in 1974 which can relate anyone also in 21st century.....creative visuals.... excellent screenplay & dilogues.....and what a beautiful silent end which gives us a fragrance of rajnigandha.

I love all the movies of kaka ji, but aavishkaar is very special to me, I have seen it more than 20 time, but each time feel the same, his smile, eyes, voice is magical,, sharmila tagore also did justice to her role, but I am fall in love with badu bhattacharya ji, what thinking, how naturally and practicality he depicted the story,, and manna dey , asha ji s voice gave special charm, and two poems, how outstanding, specially mannadey sang and kakaji lip sing so nicely,, rajesh ji truly deserve the award,, I fall in love after watching aradhona, amar prem, anand, and safar, but aavishkaar is the most admirable movie I must say.....

The source material might be related to the director Basu Bhattacharya's abuse of his wife, Rinki. Which makes it sad. Though they had three children, Rinki didn't continue her marriage. Bimal Roy also didn't approve that his daughter Rinki married Basu.
Though the movie is artistic in its vision, abuse and love don't go together. A true man never hits a woman nor allows his life condition to reach a point where his wife has to fight with him.
This comment has all my respect....... Though this movie achieves the artistic high it aspires for..... But still justifying domestic violence in the name of love is not the answer.....
I even found some dialogues in this movie to be misogynistic, such as the one where Amar says, " Main ye manta hoon ki ek aurat mard se har mamle me kamzor hai, par phir bhi main har aurat ke prati shradha rkhta hun kyuki vo maa ban sakti hai jo ek mard kbhi nhi ban skta h "
This shows that a man thinks women are inferior to him in every way but he should respect and value her just because she can be a mother. Utterly sexist and misogynist potrayal of a man's inner thought process. This dialogue saturates the whole female existence to motherhood ......
Indeed. Some things don't age well. That dialogue is bad because it was written by a person who didn't achieve the highest stages of personality development. Almost all neurotic men have problems with the female image. (Mother, wife, daughter, sister, prostitute etc.) One can refer to Carl Jung's anima or Freud's comments on sexuality.
Basu did seem like a neurotic man if his wife left him because of domestic abuse. If all humans achieved highest levels of personality development, then this world would have been a heaven. After all, Carl Jung figured that evil arises from inferior personality elements of humans. Many men treat women in an inferior way. The dialogue that you are angry about is also related to this inferior side. Infact, patriarchy is not the actual problem as to why women have historically been delegated to lower levels in every sphere of life. It is the inferior side of men. You can see that women are also generally agreeable as Sharmila accepted that dialogue to be said and completed the film.
Building a better world depends upon individuals. It is a personal moral effort. May we have the strength to achieve our highest personality development.

30/12/2020: Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore, Basu Bhattacharya and Kanu Roy - a rare combination. The film lives up to it's expectations. The presentation is offbeat and analysis of the relationship , between husband and wife, is relevant even today. The film ends on a reconciliatory note which, unfortunately, is not happening in today's world. A lot to learn from the film. Kudos!
