    woohoo vocal longevity! i wrecked my vocal cords two weeks ago for a gig from being sick then overpracticing to compensate for the lost rehearsal time, but i was out of commission for a week. now i know better and will use this to give my voice some extra tlc. thanks!

    I sing in a metal band and I did this right after practicing fry/false vocal fold screams and it really helped to reset the voice. Especially when you use the right muscles. Great cooldown!

    I honestly really gotta thank you whitney. I dont use the singing straw exclusively, but the benefits I see when I do all my regular daily workouts, and then use your warmup video with the straw right before singing? Absolutely amazing. I hope your channel continues to grow and you keep making videos because they truly are gems.

    I definitely am adding these vocal Cool downs to my routine. Thank you so much! I I'm working on becoming the best vocalist I can become so I can get my first gig. using your techniques and warm-ups etc being added arsenal for my training toolkit on top of everything I'm already working on. So thank you so much I have already watched five of your videos and I Incorporated your cool down. I noticed that I definitely need that because right in where my larynx and down in towards where my Adam's Apple is it's extremely tight I almost sound nasally now I wonder if that means I have a cold I think I might have a cold I don't know 🤣🤣🤣 but I definitely found out that my range is absolutely insane I'm actually a tenor but I have tenor/base voice type... Thank you Whitney! 🙏❤️

      Cool down would come at the end of your day or after your last performance. Just a few easy glides/slides downward to let go of any tension you're holding onto!

    If you've been singing really high, do you recommend starting at a higher pitch for the slides and descending scales?

    • @SingingStraw

      Yes definitely Maya. I'd start right smack in the middle of where you've been vocalizing and work your way down. Great question!

    Are there any specific exercises that I can do with my singing straw that help with staying “in the right key” or help train your ear to sing in the desired key (within reason) or pitch? I do believe the singing straw is making my voice stronger and I believe my “internal pitch” (what I think I am hearing versus what is actually coming out, lol) is improving as I continue to strengthen my voice. I record myself sometimes to see if what I am hearing (internally) is what my desired sound is on the recording. It is sometimes hit and miss. I try to perform songs (acoustic guitar solo gigs) that are reasonably within my range. However, even then, sometimes I’m a little flat. Thanks for your help with this. I love my SInging Straw!

    • @SingingStraw
      @SingingStraw  3 роки тому

      YES! All ear training exercises work really well with straw phonation and can be even more effective than your usual vowel/consonant work because you are getting the extra ease from the straw. I'll make a note to cover this in an upcoming UA-cam!

    This is gonna be such an odd question, but sometimes the muscles around my mouth twitch and "shiver" involuntarily when using the straw... is this normal??

    • @SingingStraw
      @SingingStraw  3 роки тому +1

      Not odd, that can happen sometimes - I would encourage you to experiment with puffing your cheeks, and maybe also try blowfish (straw without straw) to get more relaxation in those muscles. Could also be good to alternate straw and lip trill until it gets more chill. Good luck!

    What can we do between songs and
    between sets to save and recover
    our voice during a gig (rock) , just rest
    it or do some cool downs?

    • @SingingStraw

      I got a better handle on what it is that
      I was trying to ask;
      -
      When I have 8 or 9 second breaks (a couple
      bars) in the middle of songs that have very high
      notes, are there studies showing that it
      helps to sneak in some quick mid range sighs
      for example , to recover, for the next line
      or is it better to just do nothing for those few seconds ?
      -
      Also during 1 to 3 or even 10 min breaks between
      songs or sets, are there studies indicating
      that sighs or descending exercises of any sort,
      are better than just not using the voice, in order to
      be best prepared to continue singing?
