Hey mate! I was just wondering, would you ever make a video outlining how you city ride? I noticed your body was quite often on a angle, one shoulder forward and the other backwards. Is this on purpose, in case of a fall? And also raising your arm to protect from unexpected doors and so on, its so smart. Just the way you rode was very confident but also extremely active and aware of your surroundings and i'd love to learn from you about this. I've only seen a few people ride like this.
Thanks for noticing!, and yes, I have a slew of technique videos planned for 2019, just have to get out of my own head to up and finally make them! You're very observant, all what you say is by design for multiple reasons / benefits IMHO. On EUC, we have the benefit of both hands free at our disposal, so the higher I accelerate, the more my hand will go up, in order to safeguard from a fall / decreased reaction time. But there are also acceleration benefits from swinging your arms in general too. The shoulder forward thing is also for multiple beneficial reasons as well, but I could probably write a short book about all this, so please stay tuned and I promise to share all my observations and learnings soon!
Thanks Chris !!! I cannot wait. Sitting on my pc in NYC I have some old footage of us in the early days in nyc when we were still kind of in the learning process :-)
Chris- Really cool video and great soundtrack to go with it. I didn’t realize the GPF had the invisible selfie stick feature like the Insta 360 one too! Hopefully the new Insta360 One X video quality will be just as kickass as the GPF. BTW, you are as agile with that Z10 as you are with the MTen3!
Thanks Adam! The "invisible selfie stick" phenomenon is true of all 360 cameras because anything along the plane between the 2 cameras that is either right close against the camera, or thin and directly under the camera gets hidden. The demos of the Insta360 X look pretty damn close enough for me to be tempted to get one, for the faster and more versatile workflow, in particular! I feel many of us NYC riders will end up owning one, if not already haha
LOL, not sure which video you refer to, as I don't usually film group rides (although I've been in other guys' group ride videos), but also I took an unintentional break from UA-cam I guess ha, making the same type of videos everyone else seems to be doing was getting a little boring, but I'm working on getting back into video making soon!
Yup, some of his stuff was used in Casey's vlog, Soundcloud is like a go-to for UA-cam background music apparently! Haha, and yeah, just got my stupid long selfie pole off Amazon! This included GoPro one would actually be more usable if it were just a foot longer *smh.
I'm curious: The Z10 is a heafty wheel, do you ever worry that it's weight and speed might make it difficult to avoid sudden traffic surprises when riding in the city?
The heft is a plus IMHO so long as you know how to plan for it. City riding in general requires you to anticipate for all surprise situations, regardless of the wheel weight. As can be seen in this vid, I employ a bunch of city riding tactics: 1.) elbows out to guard against opening car doors, etc, in slow traffic 2.) never speed past stopped / slow moving traffic, due to possible crossing pedestrians 3.) tail cars only to the side, to prevent "rear-ending" the car at sudden stops 4.) never pass a car at an intersection due to the potential of a cut off. ... and so and, and so forth. Employing all this, you can use the heft of the Z as a plus, particularly when changing directional riding planes, because you can shift your body in a new directional plane while the wheel is still traveling in the old plane.
OMG That looks fantastic! I'm trying to figure out what tire pressure that works best for me on my Z10. What is the Psi on your Z10 in the video Chris?
Thanks! Dunno if it’s because of the sunny but mellow fall day, or the natural lending of the GoPro Fusion color palette, but I somehow subliminally color corrected in Premiere Pro to slightly blue I guess 😂
Merci!
This is my second time seeing one of those amazing things, last night I ran into a video of a guy riding one in helmet & all, he was in another country, now this, how much do those things cost if you don't mind? Oh yeah I'm about to sub , I hope u have more vids. 👍🏾
Because this was before the One X had come out, and I preferred the Fusion over the regular One's resolution. Now, I've long sold off my old Fusion and have the One X for the superior everything.

Nice video. Yeah, there's nothing like watching a video of yourself to discover all kinds of annoying mannerisms :-) I do like the quality of the Fusion video. The post-processing is what steered me away from it. After just buying the Insta360 One, now I get to buy the Insta360 X (which may match the Fusion's quality).
Thanks Marty! I like making fun of myself in general haha. Yes, this "no stitching" claim for the Insta360 X has me intrigued... will buy one if it's not BS. But the GPF is worth the pain I think, for the quality you finally get... just need to figure out a faster graphics card solution. 360 Guy claims the GPF still looks better than the new Insta360 X, but I wonder if the gains are enough to justify the pain in workflow: ua-cam.com/video/onIul5t0mxo/v-deo.html
@@houseofjob Thanks for the link to that review - I'll watch it when I get home tonight. Just sucks that I dropped $300 on the Insta360 One a week ago :-( What really impresses me with the Insta camera is the incredibly easy and fast workflow. I literally play the video on my iPad while standing, and move the iPad around to direct the view that I want the final video to show. Exporting the video is about real-time speed, i.e., 5-minutes for a 5-minute video.
Yes, I'm very envious of the Insta360 workflow, but once you stitch the Fusion footage down, it's manageable. And yeah, too bad you can't just return the Insta360 One for a credit towards the X... or can't you?
Thanks! I'm a little mixed on the scenery bending / fisheye, but yes, a bit less would be ideal. I will be getting a longer stick for this, as the included GoPro Fusion stick is too short, thus requiring the "bending" in order to get my whole body in frame.
Better than those idiots who can't stitch. They should be dragged out into the street and shot. Don't use a 360 camera if your pole is too short I think.
Huh. Guess I misread what you and Eddie Moy wrote in the Unicycle forum. You were really hard on a guy who didn't have control of his stitching and had scratches on his lens. Thought you thought like I do. Oh well.
Read again. I'm using his video and all other early Insta360 One X videos to argue my point that there are still bugs/issues with the early firmware; it's not an indictment of this particular guy's videos or video shooting skill, the language is carefully put this way.
Very nice video!!!
Thanks!
