  • Jase’s use of the “crickets” button leads to a debate over the use of excessively simplified or complicated rhetoric when studying the Bible, and Phil becomes the referee. The guys point out all the instances of simplicity in the message of Jesus, as well as examples of deeper philosophical arguments within the text. Jase and Zach agree that Jesus belongs to everyone, whether they’re intelligent or illiterate.
    In this episode: Ephesians 6, verses 1-12; 1 Corinthians 1, verses 17-30; 1 Corinthians 2, verses 4-16; 1 Corinthians 4, verses 18-20; Mark 9, verses 38-39; Galatians 3, verses 26-27

Zach you be YOU! Don’t let anyone dumb you down! You are a smart man and that is how God created you! Continue to walk in that. Some people are just jealous. 😊 My husband is someone who is an eloquent writer and speaker; he is a very intelligent man, a former attorney and he reads ALOT. It’s who he is - And I love him for it. ❤

I think Zach nailed it. DIVERSITY IN LEARNING. WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT.
The Gospel is simple!! Broadening ones vocabulary is good. Some folks thrive in that ability some folks are left scratching their heads.
I love the podcast. ALL OF IT!!!

I grew up studying the Bible & I am familiar with most of the "big words" Zack has been using. I'm glad to learn more vocabulary that expands my understanding. Jase doesn't like to hear it because he thinks he knows it all & new words (which are not new, they have been used since before Jase was born) reveal that there's more to learn.
I don't think restricting language is healthy. Ignore it if you want but stop trying to restrict Zack's language. I wish Jase would embrace the new words instead.

Please pray for me, I’ve always been a “Christian” but never lived my life for him and recently decided to change my life in every way possible. And I pray everyday just as much as I sin but I’m trying to change. For him and for myself. I’m struggling in every way in life atm and I feel as if he doesn’t hear me sometimes but I know I’m truly blessed to even be here I try to be grateful for everything but I know I’m greadyy at times. I think that’s the reason I’m still so stressed and worried so that’s something I’m trying to change. I recently found this podcast and I’m truly greatful as I learn a lot about our lord but I still have a lot more to learn so I can understand more and will hopefully help me be a better Christian and a better man in general. So please pray for me as I dedicate my life to Christ and learn and be better. Thanks you

You can express the word as simply or as creatively as you wish...as long as you are scripturally accurate
.. If your words change the intention of the scripture, that's when it's wrong... PERIOD... Jase and Phil aren't wrong, we don't need to add to or take away from the word which I believe was Jase's intention.... Zach isn't wrong either as long as his words convey the scripture accurately....I respect all their opinions, and appreciate the conversation...All opinions are valuable, and I don't think we need to bash ANY of them...

A suggestion for Zach. Read AW Tozer. He was nothing less than a master of the English language, and brilliantly communicated in simple terms. What you have to share is good and valid, why not learn how to convey the same truth in words that are more easily understood and put your gainsayers to silence. The important thing is that the truth is shared and understood. Teaching is not the display of knowledge it is the transfer of it.

    @GoTellJesusSaves 5 годин тому

I think there's a real disconnect here... intelectual doesn't require big words that most people don't understand.
Intelectual simply requires a deeper understanding of a matter. Bigger words does not equal greater understanding.
When speaking in a public forum, what is important is that those who are listening understand what is being communicated. Therefore, using words which all the listeners will understand is quite important, unless you are intentionally wanting some people to not understand.
This happens often when people know a different language and they want to have a conversation that they do not want others nearby to understand. Same principal.
It's much easier/ efficient to say things in such a way that people understand without having to stop mid-conversation to define a word. Not only that, but doing so causes a break in following what's being said and cause some people to tune out.

Instead of eschatology, just say the study of future things, instead of soteriology just say the study of salvation ... Instead of propitiation, simply define it: God's wrath towards men has been satisfied by Christ's sacrifice ... Convey the truth as simply as possible. I have quite a bit of theological training I understand the big terms and theological arguments, but we don't have to use those words when our audience is not a seminary.

Great perspectives from all & some truth to each of the positions but the "Just me & my Bible" approach is unbiblical. There are godly people who aren't intelligent, & I believe God gives grace in those situations, but the way it applies to the norm: "And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,"

I can’t stand football or any sport that has turned into a reson to gamble and the waste of time even making it part of the podcast and just like this topic of big words this is a waste of time I just want to hear about the Gospel and how it applies to their and our lives.

Jase, You are very arrogant in your desire to be a simple minded hayseed. That does not bring any glory to your God. I think you underestimate the intelligence, God given intelligence, of your audience. Constantly putting Zach down because of his use of “large words” is not becoming of someone who professes to love the Lord & his fellow man!!!

I couldn't even understand why I kept trying To I prayed and I started getting pictures then a movie came along BAM💥my eyes were opened I could finally understand🙏
I truly appreciate this podcast because I can see the Bible play out in my mind I see Paul I Jesus I Peter I am so Grateful for God's Simplicity of His Word
But if you don't have the Holy Spirit It Honestly is a Crazy Book to Read I am so glad you explained that to that Inmate Zach 🥹🙏

From these comments I have to agree with Phil. Seems as though this " bible study" has turned into division. Stay focused on Jesus and God's word NOT how intellectual Zack is. God is NOT the author of chaos. Be careful about truth out of balance. The evil one likes people who are arrogant and full of knowledge. That's not who Jesus chose to follow him, He chose those who humbled themselves. A trait all of us could work on.

The simpler the better I say but it’s good that some of us can deal with every one as Paul could.
For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more. 20To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law; 21to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law. 22To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some.
    1 Corinthians 9:19-22

If you say someone can say the sinners prayer then get dunked, first of all there’s no sinners prayer in the Bible! Second, that sounded like a baptist doctrine with the sinners prayer then dunked? You’re not saved until baptism! Phil is correct 👍🏻 It’s not that hard to understand the Bible if you have the faith you will understand it! I also do not think the kingdom has room for diversity. Are you (Zach) saying there is more than one doctrine God allows? One God, one Faith, one Baptism Ephesians 4:5!
