ATCEMS Cadet Swift Water Nov 2018

Commander Heather Phillips, and other ATCEMS Special Operations Rescue Medics provide a look at a swift-water awareness level class that all of our academy cadets receive as part of their initial training. Each year, as the "Flash Flood Capital of the World" Austin and Travis County experience flooding of some kind and at times that flooding can be very dangerous and even deadly.
As part of the Public Safety community, our medics may find themselves responding to these incidents and we want to prepare them to be aware of the power of flood waters as well as being able to perform their jobs in the safest manner possible.
