Very nice! I have a 65 442. Scored a NOS left hand side chambered tail pipe at the Oldsmobile Nationals in Pennsylvania years back in the swap meet. Its got correct part # for my car. Many sources suggest they were not available from dealership back in the day but that info is obviously wrong.

Yeah, you could get them on a 442 and Turnpike Cruiser option Cutlass. They sound great. Google Walt Valleluga in Michigan - he makes the exact chambered pipes and he made mine.

I did chambered exhaust with my 66 F85. LOVE that sound. Especially with the wicked cam I'm running.

What made Oldsmobile V-8s from '64 till early 70s sound different from other V-8s ? Even after original mufflers were long rusted out and replaced by regular mufflers, I'd roll down my window during the 80s and 90s, and they still had that distinctive Olds sound. The center exhaust ports don't have a divider, I've noticed, on many V-8s, but I still don't know. The chambered exhaust tips on your car don't account for the fundamental difference, because so few Olds cars had them. On my small block Chevy, I put a cam with the same overlap as a '65 Olds and with stock 442 Olds replacement mufflers, and it still did not sound the same.

Rex - the Olds V8's you mentioned have cylinders firing at 90 degree intervals regardless of degree of camshaft, giving all these engines an irregular exhaust interval or bump. Add the center ports, low restriction mufflers and chambered pipes and these engine's exhaust notes are uniquely incredible. To me, the best-sounding Oldsmobile engines are the 1968-1972 350, 400, 425 and 455 V8's.
