  • It can be so hard to find solid information on anything these days. There are thousands of video • Main Succulent Plant T... on succulent care out there and some can have very conflicting advice.
Please note that this video is an opinion piece. I've had a plant nursery and have been growing succulents for over a decade. I've also been making videos for a while and know a bit of 'behind the scenes' info when it comes to content creation.
I will try and identify why there is so much different information on succulents and how to find advice that will suit you best.

You’ve been nothing but extremely positive in your videos and ridiculously informative, transparent and I truly value your personal experience with certain types of succulents and your fearless dedication to being clear, realistic and extremely knowledgeable info on these wonderful plants.
Between you and The Jungle Haven (tropical plants) I feel like I can grow nearly anything successfully, even if it may take me a few attempts at it.
I know what to look out for, what’s important and even the actual biology and how the plants function, which allows for growth alongside the new plants I add into my urban jungle.
My plants and myself would love to thank you!
If I lived in Australia I’d happily make you my primary source of succulents.
PS you even added in info to those that may not like your channel on how their engagement on your channel only helps you get more exposure keeping them away and actually getting your fans to engage more, allowing for a healthier community for your channel. Prime example of your wisdom that keeps me coming back each weekly, eager to learn and view new plants I didn’t know existed!
    Ty for everything you do

Ooo, i have to check out The Jungle Haven. I love growing tropical plants! 😀
Tysm for your encouraging comments- they are so, so very much appreciated. I also love reading about the progress you're making!
You are 100% correct with the haters and the irony of them boosting my engagement is kinda funny 😁

Hello from Tennessee🙋 I started growing succulents less than a year ago and I am so obsessed! I recently came across this channel and I have learned so much about tending to my plants from this channel in particular. I like the way you explain all the details and you really have helped me understand so much about how to care for my young little succulent garden. I just want to say thank you for sharing your wisdom and helping beginners like me. I appreciate it immensely!! 🫶🫶🌵🪷🪴🫶🫶

I can’t believe I didn’t find your channel sooner even though I’ve been using UA-cam for 6 years and mainly look at plant and succulent videos. The algorithms can be strange but it’s so nice to find another Aussie channel even if you’re not a West Australian grower I still am finding all your videos extremely informative. Tysm 🙏🏽

The algorithm sure does work in mysterious ways 😅 I even had locals here in the Blue Mountains only coming across my videos in the last month or so 🤷‍♀ So glad the videos are helpful and thank you for following along 💚

Thank you! Kat for this great video which a crucial one in my opinion coz it's not only educational but is about spreading awareness.
People are oblivious as far as the Succulent world and are willing to except any information just because of ignorance ...my self included (People would rather hear what is pleasing rather than the facts...)
Till I came across your channel which has been a real blessing furthermore, not a spew for view type which is rare to find these days.
Thanks a lot Kat for all the care, your precious time🙏

Soil is the hardest thing to master then pest management (for me anyway). I am still changing what I do trying to find the easiest, cheapest ingredients and methods.. great video..

    • @ForeverASucculentAddict
      @ForeverASucculentAddict Місяць тому +2

Agreed. Soil is one of the most important factors in growing succulents. It took me a while to figure out what to use for my succulents. And your environment and weather plays a huge role in what you put in your soil mix. When I put succulents outside during my humid summers the soil mix is so gritty compared to what I use for my indoor growing succulents. If I used too gritty indoors I would have to water way more frequently. But on the opposite end if I used what I do indoors for when I grow them outdoors it would be really bad because it would rot my succulents because the soil being not gritty enough would retain too much water. Soil mix is EVERYTHING. And again I agree it was the hardest thing to figure out for me as well when I started. 😅

Right. This is also why I started my UA-cam channel. But it’s a slow going for me. It’s a work in progress. 😅
It’s harder than I thought it would be. But I started it to help people like me with growing succulents indoors because from my own struggles there are not that many indoor succulent growers that share tips and tricks on successful growing indoors. I had to learn a lot on my own with my own trial and errors. And I agree that the reason there is so much differing advice is location and different temperatures. Weather affects everything for succulents. So for me growing indoors is the only way for me living in MinneSNOWta USA. And it’s more stable. The weather is not a factor for me which makes it easier IMO. I have found terra cotta pots is great for beginners who tend to overwater. But once you know how to take care of these wonderful plants you will appreciate ceramic pots because you don’t have to water as frequently. At least for me it helps me so much. But I still like terra cotta pots. I just prefer buying ceramic “pots” I find from thrift stores and drilling my own holes.
Great advice! And you are so right about copy cats that just steal information to make money. Sad but true. Another factor is to see what their own collection looks like. If their own succulents look healthy and happy they probably know what they are talking about. It all takes critical thinking weeding through the internet in general.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.❤

It sure is a difficult journey and it can sometimes be frustrating. But hopefully, it will one day get a bit better.
When it comes to plants and a niche topic like indoor growing, i think there's nothing like practical experience. I can't recall ever coming across a horticultural book that goes into growing succulents indoors. So that info right there will be incredibly valuable to a lot of people with harsh winters.
Wishing you all the best with your channel 💚💚💚

I agree with you that its mostly due to different climates making the info confusing and difficult to sort for beginners. As always tyfs. You ma'am are a wealth of information 💚💚💚 i do get frustrated when I see a faker who can't even spell the words or show pics of something else trying to pass it off like they know it all. 🫤
