Creating The Mona Lisa With Rubik's Cubes | Rubik's Cube Art | Euromaxx

- After setting multiple European and three world records in solving Rubik's Cubes, Italian artist Giovanni Contardi decided that instead of just solving Rubik's Cubes in seconds, why not create art with them. So he took things up a level and started using the multi-colored cubes to create his personal versions of famous artworks, like the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.

You see that triangle on his arm?
Those celebrities
Yup illuminate confirmed
6 sides on a cube... 5 are wasted since you can only see 1! Why rubiks cubes? This is a pointless waste of plastic which will probably end up at landfill...
Your a waste of plastic
@@valerieconrad679 ahh the mature response... Are you about 12?
I don't think it's all that high a probability that someone would throw a portrait that sells for thousands of dollars into landfill. As far as plastic pollution goes I'm more worried about systematic global problems like single-use packaging than about one person's decision to make pictures out of Rubik's cubes. If there is a problem it's more with the fact that Rubik's hasn't come up with an alternative material for their product than with the artist who uses them.
How are you going to use 5 sides
I'm guessing he reuses these. Also, art gets made in all sorts of ways, just for the sake of it. Creating this with rubik's cubes is a much different experience than just making it out of tiny squares. It adds the awe of the ability a person to solve rubik's cubes so quickly and the amount of time and effort that a person has spent setting up the correct patterns. It adds another dimension to something like this which many people appreciate. Also, if you're really into rubik's cubes, this is a fun way of interacting with them. As you have to think about how to solve them a completely different way than normal. In the end, most art is a pointless waste of resource as it doesn't do anything productive anyway. I think you're being unnecessarily harsh here.
