    My iPad Pro got wet the year before last in the same cases. Keyboard ended up failing. Now aside from the sleeve, I put it into a 2.5gal zip lock to ensure protection from the elements. Nice set-up!

      I haven't had any water get in mine, but the ziploc would be good insurance!

    Thanks for the information. I especially appreciate your info on the Wild Heart bag. How easy it is to tie down and how much it holds. Useful item.

      For the price, they are amazing bags! Their saddlebags are also a great option. I have a set I use for shorter trips when I'm going to be riding offroad. amzn.to/3vi3uqx

    I love using the shoe boxes to keep organised. Only thing is if it would be pouring and they’d get soggy. I normally pack in packing cubes and pouches but I’ll give this a try.

    • @mustachemoto
      @mustachemoto  11 місяців тому +2

      Yeah, if they got wet that would be a problem. I've looked for plastic boxes, but haven't found any the ideal size... and I'm a runner, so I've got shoe boxes for days. I can just swap them out when they start to fall apart!

      hahahaha, nope, just me. I definitely could have pared it down, but it was my first long road trip and the temps went from below freezing to the upper 90s, so I had quite the range of gear. I get by with just two soft panniers when I'm on a shorter camping trip.

    Thanks for even more cool ideas/tips! About that fly rod/reel ... which set is that & how do you like it? Thx!

    • @mustachemoto
      @mustachemoto  11 місяців тому

      Glad you liked it (subscribe for more if you haven't already). The fly rod was a 7-piece version of this one, but it looks like they quit selling it: amzn.to/3ZzU4RH It doesn't cast very far, as you can probably imagine from the price, but it's easy to carry.

      @@mustachemoto Sweet ... thank you! I have zero fly fishing experience and a 30+ year hiatus from spin casting, so I'm looking into options. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't TRY to do some fishing in CO/some of the surrounding states that die hards pay good bank to travel from around the US/the world to fish.

    • @mustachemoto
      @mustachemoto  9 місяців тому +1

      Sure. I’m a Fujifilm guy. On the trip I took the X-E3 (the smallest camera I have) and the 18-55 “kit” lens. I wish I had also taken a telephoto lens and will definitely take one on my next long trip.

    Great Vid - Question - the link in the description points to the Big Agnes Rapide SL, not the Q-Core? Which did you use? I love the idea of the mini inflator too, alas it's one more thing to keep charged.

    • @mustachemoto
      @mustachemoto  11 місяців тому +1

      Good catch! I have the Q-Core SLX which they quit making. I think the Rapide SL replaced it. The mini inflator is amazing and actually holds a great charge. I think I only recharged it once on the three-week trip, and you can always blow the mattress up by mouth if you had to.

    Ben, do you attend the BMW rallies? What are your thoughts? I see a North Florida (LIve Oak, FL) BMWNEF Winter Rally in Jan. 2024. Never been to one.

    • @mustachemoto
      @mustachemoto  9 місяців тому +1

      I've been to one BMW rally a long time ago, but I only went to meet up with a friend and stayed just a few hours... it didn't do much for me. I'd rather be out riding by myself or with a friend or two than hanging out at a rally. BUT, I do have a friend that absolutely loves them and goes all the time, so I guess it really depends on your personality.

    Are you saying ROK Straps that are like bungee cords but better? He said so quick I wasn’t sure.

    • @mustachemoto
      @mustachemoto  Рік тому +2

      Yes, Rok Straps. Here's an amazon link to them: amzn.to/43ClUgr They're super secure and easy to use. I keep them in my pannier all the time and use them when I have to carry light stands or anything else large on the bike. They have loops on the ends, not hooks like a traditional bungie cord. They are also mostly webbing with a short section of flat bungie and they have a fastex buckle that clips them together.

      I did skip over that because there wasn't much... I showed the puffy and the extra pair of pants. Other than that it was three pairs of socks, three pairs of underwear and a couple t-shirts. That's it.
