Sezane please!!! Their product photos are so artsy it's so hard to tell what the clothes are actually like.
Can confirm the clothes are amazing, though pricey. But would love to see that review too!
Seconded - but the bottoms are all cut very straight for narrow hips. Nice quality
Yes! Love to see that!
Their products vary so much in quality! The belt and shirts I bought are still lovely and good quality but both pairs of pants and a viscose blouse I have are so overpriced for how they feel on the body and their fit is not that flattering for a slightly curvy body 🥴
I've bought quite a few things from Sezane - really lovely stuff! Totally worth the money! And if I may - their shoes are surprisingly good! I didn't expect their shoes to be as comfortable as they are
$428 for viscose is criminal!
I agree it's too much, but I was in a pinch & bought one such dress 2 years ago. It was $378 then, now it's $428 (before tax). I've worn it to 3 important events, felt great each time, still in good condition and will wear it more (it's a style and colour that won't go out of fashion). So yea I over paid, but I don't regret it.
and polyester?? straight to jail 👉
@@Ahdrianos viscose isn't polyester
@@jojomarchright, it’s a semi-synthetic (structurally identical to cellulose-a natural fiber), and usually derived from wood/bamboo pulp. It breathes, it’s lovely, but (unlike polyester!) it can be one of the most bratty, unpredictable fibers around :)
@@heatherfinch2367 yeah I know what it is, but wouldn't rate it below polyester!
I don't think your expectations are too high. We're at a point where so many things are expensive even though they're not quality. It's really hard to navigate shopping and to find those pieces that it's worth spending your money on.
This is a great video if you have a similar body type to the presenter. But I can see these dresses looking amazing on some people and boring on others. I’m a kibbs classic and when she said it was snug in the hips I knew it would fit me perfectly and really pop. The flimsy (light, sexy) fabric with just the right tailoring is what makes these dresses special. It is the girl that makes the dress and not the dress that makes the girl.
It do think with reformation it really is fabric-dependent! I have a linen ref dress that I wore as a bridesmaid that I love and feel was worth the value, but I have a viscose one I got second-hand that I'm SO glad I didn't pay full price for. (Still love that one but I paid $80 and that's what it was worth.)
I think Jamie is kind of finding the same thing -- the denim and the linen dresses had the most positive reviews here :)
@@maggiegowland6606 heavier fabric will suit some body types better than thinner. But that doesn’t make it better quality. That’s like not looking good in the color red and saying that it’s “cheap” someone else might look very “expensive” in it
I grew up with a dressmaker mom who worked for Dior at one point. We would never spend anywhere close to this on any of the cost of these dresses. Personally I’d send them all back because even if the first two are beautiful, they have some wear issues. Couple tips I’ve learned shopping and wearing them from her I’d share:
- buy a silk slip skirt and a full length one is great to have underneath. Helps smooth the silhouette and undergarment lines. Thrift stores are great if you’re able to find your size.
- pay attention to the style of tops or dresses in your closet that you feel the best in, take those proportions into account when searching
- of your favourites, look at the fabric and materials. Even if you spend $400 they are using often the same material as an HM. Cheap ones can work, just look at your closet to see
- if you are lucky to be a straight size, try the thrift and vintage stores
- consider dropping your budgets on the piece to allow for tailoring, you can buy a size up if able to and they can help create a perfect dress for you that can help address your insecurities. We take it to a local person. there are often talented affordable people locally- shout out to my Indian and Chinese aunties and uncles 😊
Plus once you have dress or pieces that fits you perfectly you can use it as a pattern to adjust to various styles.
thank you for the tips!!
Please do this with house of CB! I love their designs but they're soo pricey and usually made of polyester so I've been hesitant
Unfortunately they look great 😭😔 I have few of their dresses and if you get the sizing right they look really good on
@@discardme222 oh no this is the worst news ever 😔 i’ve been eyeing them forever 😭😭
I love house of CB. One of the few places that does feel
Worth the price.
the worst is “dry clean only” so not only you have to spend THAT much on a dress, you will also have to PAY to CLEAN
I noticed that after the fact 🥲🥲 not ideal
Yes this! It makes it harder to justify especially when it's like a more casual type of dress. Now you have to worry about dry cleaning 😩
Unless you’re wearing SUPER fancy items, an at home dry cleaning kit usually does the trick. I use the dryel ones off Amazon and they work like a charm on my dry clean only items.
Honestly, most of those items are probably machine washable at low temperature in a wool. Programme. I've never had any issues
As for the linen dress, linen is expensive by the yard, $40-60 per yard and a long dress would need 3 yards. It justifies the price tag way more than polyester or viscose. Personally I say no to polyester at any price point.
this is good to know!!
Jamie the way I died at your face on the girl frolicking OMG LOL
hahahhhah my fave part of the vid tbh
I think where Reformation excels is the fit and feminine cut of the dresses. The really fit well and make you look great. However they overcharge for most of their fabrics. I had to return my last two orders because the just felt "cheap" however they fit great. Now I just wait for their sales to purchase dresses that I have had my eye on. I just got two dresses for 50% off which makes it much more palatable.
I own a lot of reformation pieces that I truly love, but I go out of my way to avoid anything that is “dry clean only” or made with materials I don’t like. Linen for me is nearly always a safe bet and I’m always happy with those pieces from Reformation.
next: realisation par; sezanne; self-portrait; elliat collective
I just bought one of their linen dresses for a wedding and it was not overhyped at all. It was double lined and structured really well. I went down a size and it really flattered me. I was shocked.
I understand wanting the shapewear under the silk...but honestly your shape looks like a goddess without the constricting undergarments. There's something about the way the fabric clings to the stomach that makes it hyper feminine. Gorgeous 🥰
Please do anthropology dresses next
they’re gorgeous! Need to know if they worth the price.
I have a couple. IMO they run a little big (I’m usually a size 4/S but can go down to XXS for their house brand, such as the somerset dress) but the ones I have are super cute and comfy! I would love to see Jamie review them as well :)
Please do Aritzia next!
oooooo good call! so many pieces to try!
@@JamiePaige yesss and I feel like it’s super hyped and expensive but also some complaints about quality sometimes so it might be interesting!
As someone who gets overheated very quickly, linen is one of my favorite fabrics in the world! I especially love it for my Renaissance Faire garments. The two main frustrating things are the way it needs to be washed and the way it wrinkles DX
I started sewing so I can make my own reformation wardrobe with minimal cost (but it does take thousands of hours 😅). Having started this process, you begin to really think why they price things the way that they do. The labor is intense and should be expensive. It took me about 50 hours to make a wedding guest dress. However, if you ever dabble into sewing, you can make these dresses to fit EXACTLY how you want them to and with the fabrics you love. 10/10 recommend making your own reformation inspired dresses.
Hi Marisol, what templates are you using ?
I love the cherry dress and the Cari dress on you. The color of the Cari dress is stunning on you
I love those two, too!!
The mahogany Cari dress was my favorite on you! The color is perfection with your hair color and skin tone! And yes, the cherry dress and red/tomato dresses were AMAZING!! 😍
your doing the lords work with these videos jamie! thank you for your service
The first two are absolutely stunning on you, but the rest are underwhelming for sure. Reformation really taps into your fantasy self dream. Most people do not go to a winery on a regular basis (as you yourself said) but you suddenly envision yourself doing just that 🫢 after you frolic in the field of course 😜
youre so right haha
Thank you Jamie! I usually hate and skip hauls, as i always feel like the person pretends to love everything to push me buying it. This was very refreshing and honest and i loved it! Sending love from France ❤
Fun Ref haul and I learned a lot. The red linen dress is most flattering on you and versatile. It’s also most worth the high price of the bunch because of its fit, style and quality.
Houseofcb next 🤭?
Oooooo👀
Some of these are very pretty but overall the fabric seems too flimsy for such high prices. To spend almost $400 on a dress that isn’t even formal /black tie seems kind of crazy to me.
Loving this series! As a fellow Canadian, would also love you to include your feedback on the shipping, duties, and returns processes as well!
The first two were so stunning on you and even though I think the prices are criminal across the board, at least it's a "treat yourself" moment - the rest were definitely not worth the price at all. The black mini dress & denim dress were cute, but you could find the same thing for much less elsewhere. Love these videos 🙌🏼
Not me clicking on your new video about Reformation so fast! Surprisingly the duties were “just” $28 for such a big order? Looking forward to hearing what you have to say cause us Canadian girlies know the struggle between ordering online, sizing, etc lol Thanks!! 💕 I shall continue watching now… 😂😅
Their shipping is honestly a pleasure! Super quick and great return policy
The mahogany dress color on you is so stunning ✨ I also love the lil denim dress on you too! I think styled it will be adorable! ✨id love to see how you style it❤️have fun 😊
The mahogany dress is gorgeous!
The Irisa dress is my favorite! Oh my goodness it’s screams summer and I just adore the fit on you!
Things learned today: Reformation sell cheap dresses for not cheap prices. Don't keep any, they all look like they cost £25 😂
🙃🙃🙃🙃
OK, I loved the first two dresses and the last one. The dress that was long with the deep V could be gorgeous if altered to make it more comfortable but understand that would add cost. Thank you for the try on haul❤
the two first dresses are amazing i want them 😍
The cherrie dress is very cute and fits you beautiful. However in my experience if I have 'a remark' (the restricted hip in your case) it will bug me while wairing. I feel soooo confident when I feel free to move. 🙂
The red linnen dress has so many positives: adjustable straps, POCKETS, corset look without restriction and quality fabric => that's a keeper 👏
The olive silk dress and the crossneck dress really don't do you justice and thats a crime.
I think the mini black dress with open back and the denim give really cute vibes but i did also notice that hem 🤔
If this wasn't clear I LOVE this series. It's like shopping with you. Being brutally honest because for those prices we expect perfection.
I enjoyed this video so much 🩷.
Have you heard of the brand Meshki? Would love to see you try their dresses/clothing as part of the series! Really enjoying this series, super helpful 😊
Like, how can a 100% polyester dress be almost $500 🥹🥹
I’m not thrilled with many of the dresses. The only one I thought was amazing on you was the silk, but as a sweaty gal I was wondering how that would look and then it happened to you! Haha
I did like the 2nd dress as well! The denim, is quite versatile, but it doesn’t seem the best quality.
The sweat penetrated that dress so quickly I barely even had it on for 15 mins 😂
Silk and sweat are no match !, I never buy silk way too many issues with that fabric
Loving this series - I have a similar body type and it's SO helpful to see these pieces on real people. The Baila linen dress was my favorite!
The Reformation price vs. quality is absolutely insane. I don't mind paying good money for good materials and construction. I think good clothes are worth their price tag! Reformation is a very specific look - not only with their clothes, but with their models to trick you into thinking it is more chic than it is. Cheap materials sold for way too much.
This came at the perfect time!! I was eyeing the Jeany, Avielle & Cari dresses and really appreciate seeing them on you.
the reformation linen pieces are SO GOOD. the linen is so thick and some of the dresses have boning in them and it provides a ton of structure. i also get lots of compliments on them
I love love love this type of video omg!!! I think and other stories could maybe be a good next one for this video series?
The tomato red dress you got is reallyyyy tempting me but the price tag is so insane. It’s so so so gorgeous though. And like has such a vintage regency glam
The first cherry dress is so stunning on you - I am glad you are keeping the 🍒 👗 ❤
EcoVero is a trademark and refers to the viscose produced by lenzing (an Austrian company). Lenzing says it is an environmentally friendly viscose because the wood from which viscose is made is said to come exclusively from controlled and certified sources.
Would love if you did Sezane!!
I looooove the denim dress on you ! It pairs really well with your red hair in my opinion !! Very 60s / 70s inspired 🥰
Thank you so much for this review! I've been on the fence about buying anything from Reformation. Spending $400-$500 on a viscose or synthetic material dress is A LOT, so no, your expectations are not too high
The first two and the denim! Also get these on sale it’s so much more reasonable.
Would love it if you tried the knitwear from reformation!!
And I love the potential for this series, like the wanting to get spendy on nice brands to see how they actually are.
I think it is 100% acceptable to have high expectations for clothes at that price point. I have high expectations for viscose dresses I pay $60, let alone $500. I also find we tend to be more critical of less expensive brands, but make excuses for higher priced ones. You were right to feel disappointed.
Baby girl next time wait u till August! Just got them 50%off! I always shop a few nice pieces at the end of summer ❤
I love fashion videos. Yes keep the series going. I can’t recommend a brand but I will watch the video.
The cherry dress on you is stunning 🥰🥰
This was so helpful!! Love this series 😊 this has been my exact experience with reformation but I keep coming back because the cuts are so flattering
Please do Rouje and Sezane next!
For brands to try maybe Eterne, Nili Lotan or Doen? I own some pieces by them, but these brands are still newer to my wardrobe, so I'd love to see some try-ons! ♥
Red dress in linen looks the best on you❤
The Cari dress and the 1st dress look amazing and the denim dress is adorable.
I know someone said this about the linen but what they said was kind of misleading-you can get good quality linen for $20-30 a yard (Canadian)-but it’s actually true for the silk, which is why it’s so flimsy (whereas the linen was lined). Good quality, opaque processed silk (as opposed to raw silk or some of the thinner weaves) really is $40-80 a yard, so even with mass manufacturing discounts and economies of scale, you’re still a little below the price point where it will be more substantial and lined in a long silk dress (that uses at least 3 yards). If you ever do subscriber specials where you go up to the beginning of high end ($700-$1000+ CAD a piece) you should make sure to get a more basic 100% silk item (ex pants, skirts, blazers, a knee length bias dress, etc) so you can compare the construction details. Feel free to ignore this (super excited because I’ve been waiting for more realistic videos that people can use to make informed purchase decisions) but it’d also be super cool if you worked with an independent stylist who could take you through materials and garment construction, like in Elizabeth Cline’s “Overdressed”. (Sorry if this is rude or overstepping.)
For suggestions you actually asked for, I would love to see your breakdown of Banana Republic’s silk basics and also try out independent designers like Samantha Pleet.
In my opinion the denim dress is the only one I could consider buying at this price point. The second, linen one was the most flattering on you but I know I wouldn’t wear it that often.
The mahogany one has such a weird shape that it will look good only on few silhouettes.
The first two dresses (the cherry and the bright red) are amazing on you!!!
My faaavorite kind of video!! More, more, more!! You’re stunning. Loved the first two
Have you tried Lilysilk, yet? It looks like they have actual silk dresses for way less.
For these prices the dresses should AT LEAST be double lined, so much more wearable and flattering
I 100% agree with your choices. They look great on you. Would love to see more like this with more brands!
Odd Muse and House of CB would be good to see! Loved the cheesecake dress and the red one. I do feel Reformation is sometimes like an over priced Zara and their prices points are way too high for quality/fabric….
omg that cari dress is giving me homecoming flashbacks 💀 no no no lol esp for that price!!!
The Cari Dress is the best one: for weddings, picnics, for just looking gorgeous with flip flpos. To me, worth every penny! 2nd by the Cherries one. The others I don't really care for.
I love the red dress and the denim dress! They're both so cute on you
i'd say a NO on the maghony Cari dress :P
Would love to see you try Sezane and Free People! Love this video series :)
I stopped shopping at Reformation recently because the prices keep going up and the quality is going down. Prior to 2020, most of their clothes were made in the USA and now it’s all “sustainably made” (questionable) in China. Also, I bought jeans from them 2019 for 98 USD that now cost 168 USD. That’s insanity, not just normal inflation.
I have such a hard time nowadays justifying even THINKING about spending that much money on something that ISN’T completely comfortable and without flaws. Like, if I drop $400 on something, I better be able to drop it low on the floor and not find a single crooked seam or loose thread.
Loved this deep dive 😍 could you do House of CB next?
Jamie - please keep the denim dress :) its a vibe on you with your hair up for sure!
I love this series!! Please do selkie next I’ve been wanting to try one of their dresses for the longest time but I just can’t bring myself to bite the bullet
I love these types of videos! Love your opinions on the dresses. The silk dress, I hate the way the back is like flipping around, the seams are turning inside out
Thank you for testing out various styles from various designers/shops. i agree with many of your comments. Quality is not reflective of the high pricing. The first two dresses look great on you. The solid colored one, as you noted, is more versatile. I am dismayed that dresses not made of better quality fabrics are priced so high.
Devastated that the linen dress is out of stock in the white & blue pattern, you sold me on it!
i dont like the burgendy cross neck one. there seems to be a unintended spacing in the center caused by you moving around. do not like the green silk ones.
the first two are keepers. i do like the denim mini dress.
re the Velda dress, it actually does look great on you - but as my mother always says, its about how you feel!
Can I just say that the green dress is like Cinderella’s shoe a perfect fit.
I’m honestly shocked with these prices along with the type of quality! I can get a Mac Duggal formal dress with beading at that cost 😭
I understand it’s not the same style of course but it’s crazy
The tomato linen dress was my favorite!
I love the mahogany Cari dress! The fit is so nice on you and the color is beautiful
You look beautiful in all of these! However, they are way too simple for those prices… I learned to sew because quality continues to go down and prices are going up….now I can make gorgeous clothing at a fraction of the price and much higher quality. It is time consuming but the process is fun. ❤
Love your video, lots of great information.hopefully you can do asos dresses ❤
The first two dresses and last two dresses were my favourite!
I could never spend that on these dresses. They have a few stunning pieces but I can find other eco-conscious brands for a lower price.
The red dress in the only one i would keep
We have a very similar figure and i absolutely love the first 2 dresses and the top of the burgundy dress.
The short dress is shapeless and the back it too widely open on the back and doesn’t suit your beautiful shape.
If the black one was more structured it would be gorgeous! The only way i can see the silk one work would be with a belt maybe? But i think what kills it is the high neckline.
I loved the denim dress! Think it looks beautiful on you!!
Everytime you say but-ton. I have to say it too 😂. I have never heard someone enunciate their T’s like you.
Can you please do House of CB next please???
Ahh I’ve been eyeing that EXACT Balia dress but the price is just so prohibitive. It is just so pretty
Love this video! For the next one, maybe do some clips showing the details up close? xx
I love the Cari dress, the silhouette is interesting the color suits you too
4:46 O.M.G I’m in LOVE with at dress!! A dress is pockets is worth $400 ❤️🇨🇦🤣😘
Honestly I’d only keep the red dress. But even then you can actually find custom made to order in your size and fabric of choice, dresses from Etsy sellers like hearts and found that are similar to the more retro inspired designs that reformation offers for a significantly lower cost. I spent $155 on a custom made dress from hearts and found and it fits me perfectly. Ref uses a lot of viscose and the cuts aren’t really working for my bigger boobs. I love ref designs but not for the price and fabrics they use
love the fashion content!
